Are Pin Holes of Curt X5 Adapter Supposed to be Oblong Shaped

Question:

Our measurements from side to side of the hole ranged from .675 to .682 in places. Did some measurements and seeing about 4 to 6 thousands variation in the hole. Would like to know the hole size from the factory and the B&W pin size if you can share that. Thanks for researching.

That's maybe not a great sign. Is there anyway I could get pictures of the wear you are seeing so that I could forward to the manufacturers and see what they think?

Thanks for getting me the pictures and dimensions! So I checked with Curt and you are totally fine and don't have anything to worry about. Here's what our tech at Curt sent me after sending him your pictures and dimensions: The edge of the holes in the X5 plates, are beveled from the factory to ease getting the pin into the unit. Secondly, .040 of an inch is the thickness of 14 sheets of regular notebook paper. This is not going to cause any sort of chucking going down the road. Our pin hole size in a brand new unit is 0.688. What I am seeing here is not a safety issue or any need of concern.
