Recommended 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness For 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Question:

HM42190 Hi this is showing as being plug and play compatible with the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. My 2013 Wrangler Rubicons OEM hitch wiring is 4-pin and has a long lead that goes up into the passenger cabin area. Watching this video it appears that the OEM connection is on a short cable and is a different connector. Can you verify that this is compatible with the 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon?

The Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector, part # HM42190 is compatible with your Rubicon if it has a factory tow package and a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle.

Since you said you have a 4-way connector at the back of your Jeep, it sounds like you want to add a 7-way connector. If you do not plan on adding a brake controller, you can use part # 37185. This will attach to the 4-way on your Jeep and you just attach the white ground wire to a clean metal surface. You can tape off the balance of the wires if you do not need 12V power or a brake controller.

If you are adding a brake controller, you will need part # ETBC7. This connects to the 4-way connector and with some additional wiring you will have a 4-way and a 7-way connector at the back of your Rubicon.

The brake controller I recommend is the Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This is one of our most popular because it is easy to install and operate. I have attached a link to an installation video for a brake controller on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler unlimited you can check out. For additional wiring I recommend part # 10-2-1. This is 10 gauge jacketed 2 wire that is sold by the foot.
