Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Hitch is awesome. Very secure with no noticeable chucking. I can remove and install this hitch by myself. The two pieces are very manageable.
My fifth B&W hitch over the years; 2 turnover ball goosenecks and 2 tow & stows. Quality hitches which I recommend highly.
Packaging could be better but was still all intact, just the boxes aren’t quite heavy enough to shipping company’s to throw around (like they do)
I have a fuel cell in my bed as well, hitch fit great and I just cut down the front locking twist handles to clear my tank

Works as it should! It come apart easy, is light weight and all-over great! Highly recommend.
Very happy with the B&W hitch we received. etrailer and their staff were excellent to work with. Shipping was sooner than projected. And the installation was extremely easy. Would absolutely use etrailer again as well as B&W products. Thank you all!

After getting to use the B&W hitch several times now with our 5th wheel this remains a great product. Very easy to take in-and-out of the truck when not in use. Easy hookup and disconnect to the trailer. Very smooth ride with very minimal chucking. We pull a 40 5th wheel toy hauler. As noted in original review, I would definitely recommend this hitch as well as purchasing from etrailer!
Easy to assemble and install in my 2023 GMC 3500HD Long Bed with the OEM Puck System.

It’s been a year since purchasing this system and it works great. It works great with the puck system on my 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD long bed.
Excellent product. Put it in my 2022 SB HD Duramax for my new fifth wheel. Good price and great company to deal with!

This has been a great hitch! Still looks and works like new!
I think the product is great and will perform well for a lot of traveling!
However the packaging was in really bad shape when the hitch arrived. I am very, very surprised that nothing was scratched or missing!
Assembly was easy after watching the videos.

The hitch has worked out well. It’s Easy to hook up and remove and reinstall in the truck! It looks really good too. We’ve gone about 8000 miles towing with it.
We just purchased a new 42’ fifth wheel and had to haul it home about 200 miles. Hitch was easy to assemble and install. It looks nice in the bed of our 3500HD Dually and even better … the ride with the new fifth wheel was very smooth! We would highly recommend. Also a side note, we did order the B&W Graphite Plate versus using grease … would highly recommend using the plate.
Etrailer quick delivery 3 days to Cali. Hitch is Very stout construction excellent welding, very easy to assemble!
My only negative response is that the packaging. Hitch had a couple scratches due to it bouncing around while in transit. B&W should improve their packaging.
Easy installation - 2024 GMC HD3500 - follow the directions on part 2 there is a right way to install the mounting bars. The bottom piece 80 lbs and the top was 70 lbs. I needed to go buy some dry lube for the towers. Bolts torque to 110lbs. No issues.
Second B&W hitch to own. The new truck came with the fifth wheel puck setup. Quality is second to none. Form fit and function as I have come to expect from B&W. Etrailer shipping was super fast and arrived in good condition.
Received my B&W fifth wheel hitch today from Kansas to West Virginia in 2 days pretty remarkable. Just took a few minutes to install, everything fit perfectly. Very happy with my purchase Kansas made hitch in my Michigan made 2024 Chevy 2500.
Well I have only received half of the order and it showed up damaged and box torn wide open. All the parts were thrown around inside the box. The part of the hitch I did receive was all scratched and multiple chips in the paint very disappointed when this thing cost almost $[XX] not what I was expecting from e trailer. Packing was horrible. The ups driver just dumped it off and said why do they ship things so heavy and left as fast as he could. I didn't even have a chance to file a damage report with him nor did he offer.
Heavy duty with quality construction. Heavy but very manageable for one person to install and remove due to being a 2 piece design. Be aware that the lube is not in the instructions but in the info packet. That’s where you will find the B&W sticker. The powder coat is very thick and high quality as well but due to shipping I had a few spots that were chipped off and scrapped. This is installed on a 2022 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Reg Bed with OE 5th wheel/gooseneck prep. My install setup is the middle setting high and rearward (towards tailgate.) this places the pin directly over the gooseneck ball opening so feel this is where GM thinks it’s strongest and the rear setting allows extreme turns with my 2013 Montana 3625RE. No slider required!!! I will attempt to add shots of my trailer hooked up so an idea can be had if you will require a slider or not.
Well made hitch. Easy to connect and disconnect. Can separate base from top to make it easy to handle when taking in and out.
Some assembly required, but drops right into the GM puck system. Readjusted the puck latches after the first trip.
Best hitch I have ever owned. It's solid with no chucking. Easy to connect and disconnect my trailer.
Was as easy to install as shown on the video. I was impressed with the apparent quality of the construction. Everything fit together as it was supposed to do. Very pleased with my purchase!

One year update: weve had no problems at all! The hitch works great and gives us a smooth towing experience. Definitely recommend this product!
My second B&W hitch. Superb quality and finish. Made in USA. 10/10
Worked out great I have a brand new 2022 GMC Denali with a 6 foot 10 bed I positioned the arms so the fifth wheel sits to 3 inches back I have more clearance now than I have ever had with my fifth wheel trailer I used to medium holes and have seven and three-quarter inches between my trailer and the truck bed it works out really well

Just bought same truck and trying to figure out the next part with proper hitch, never trailered 5th wheel so definite learning curve, can you specify the part about the holes and 3 inches back??. Thank you
After a lot of research I still had many questions about which hitch to install in my new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 single rear wheel with a standard (6 3/4') bed and the factory puck system. Did I need a slider as everyone suggested or would I be fine with a fixed hitch and save some weight and money in the process. I called B&W Hitches to find the exact location of the king pin receiver compared to the gooseneck opening in the truck bed so I could take an exact measurement. They were eager to assist but I couldn't get an exact number. I then called etrailer and they were extremely patient and even put on hold a couple times to try to get solid answers to my questions. Both places said the fixed hitch may work but recommended the slider. I decided to go with the fixed base hitch and in my situation I'm very happy that I did.
The hitch arrived in two days in two boxes and was in great shape. I spent about 1 1/2 hours installing it and all went well. Each piece was easily handled by myself.
Now for the number I could not find anywhere. With the 3710 hitch mounted in the rear most position the measurement from the center of the kingpin to the back window in my truck is 45 in. My camper is exactly 96" wide (radius 48" from kingpin center to trailer side) and the front is heavily radiused which will not allow for an absolute 90° jackknife but it comes pretty close. if your trailer nose isn't radiused or the kingpin sets back further you will not have the turning radius that I do. this fixed base hitch will not work for everybody but in my situation it did. I haven't road tested it yet but I expect that to go very well.
Both B&W hitches and etrailer were extremely helpful and very professional. Hope my pictures help.
As always the best experience a customer can expect from an online business. Amazingly fast shipping. Got it the day before we are taking off to Boise Idaho tmr. The amount of information that’s provided before purchasing a product is also a huge A+++++. Carol even followed up with me to make sure my fifth wheel hitch arrived in good condition. Overall a 10 star experience and this is why I keep coming back. Oh and the instructions were also great and plenty of videos on their website to assist with install. Installed took me about 10 minutes and we were ready to hit the road. Keep up the great work etrailer
Did lots of research and bought this one. I am very happy with this hitch. Delivery was quick and installation was a breeze. I pulled my 34 ft 14k trailer and was very happy. Reading the reviews I was a little concerned about it not being a sliding hitch and I have a 6 1/2 ft bed on my Silverado but testing it after installing I can almost jackknife without hitting window. I did install on the highest setting which proved to be too high so I lowered it by 1 set of holes. I would definitly recommend this hitch!
Truck is a 2024 Silverado 3500HD Crew cab with 6 1/2 ft bed and the step tailgate. The trailer is a 2009 34 ft Hitchhiker.
After buying a 2021 Silverado 2500, we decided to purchase a new hitch to replace the sliding Reese hitch we have used for the past 10 years. Our truck has a 6'9" standard bed. With the rounded front caps on newer 5th wheels, we decided we could use a fixed mount hitch instead of a slider. After reading reviews online, we purchased the B&W Companion Hitch with the puck system. It was quick to assemble, and with the ability to separate the plate assembly from the base it is easy to take in and out of the truck. This hitch also allowed the option to set it up so the trailer pin sits 2" behind the back axle. Every trailer is different, but this feature allows us to jackknife our trailer to 90 degrees with 1" clearance from the back of the cab. The hitch has three different height settings and we chose the middle setting. This gave us 7 1/4" clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck bed sides. Once we added our Tonneau Cover rails we still had 6" of clearance. Hooking up to this hitch is a great deal easier than our previous Reese hitch. It also pulled much smoother and quieter with the dual jaw configuration. Additionally, the smaller footprint in the bed of the truck should allow us more cargo room if needed. We are very happy with this purchase and expect to use this hitch for many years. Buying through etrailer was a positive experience. Besides having the best price and free shipping, we relied on their sales team to answer our many questions and help choose the right hitch for us. Once we placed our order, we had our hitch in 2 days.

After using this hitch for the past year, we are still very happy with our purchase. The hitch has been trouble free, easy to put in and pull out of the truck bed, easy to hook up to our camper and it pulls great. Having used different hitches over the years, this is the one I would recommend.
Not my first B&W product
I purchased and installed a gooseneck receiver in a 2015 Chevy The only problem I had with it was rust
I am sure this fifth wheel companion finish will last longer being above the bed
The hitch is built very well and is very easy for 1 person to install
i’m looking forward to many years of dependable service with this hitch
Installed on a 2023 GMC 3500 HD Denali SRW with puck system. Website could not confirm fitment, but it does fit. Easy install, seems to be sturdy.
