Installation of Tekonsha T-One Connector

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your rear cargo area. You will have to remove access panels, storage trays, and some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the body harness up to your car battery, and route the blue wire up to the grommet that leads into the cargo door. Then connect all of the wires per the included instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a 2-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's 3-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Installation of Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter

This adapter hardwires to the body harness that is included in this kit. Just connect the black wire from the brake controller adapter to your car battery, and connect the white wire to a suitable ground. The remaining wires can then be easily spliced into the body harness with the included butt connectors.

This adapter is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller. Because the harness does not hardware to your controller, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

  • Is The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99FR A Fit For A 2023 Toyota Highlander
That's totally fine, it's just nice to have the ability to use a weight distribution hitch because if you ever do trade up or tow a trailer to move some stuff around and you get in the 3,500-4,000lb range these start being pretty useful to help with sag and keeping the trailer tracking straight. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99FR is a confirmed fit for your Highlander and will offer a much more hidden look with the crosstube being completely hidden behind the bumper. The wiring and...

  • What Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2020 Toyota Highlander while Towing a 4,000 lb. Camper
I did some research on your 2020 Toyota Highlander L, and it looks like your vehicle is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds. With this tow capacity, you will be able to safely tow without the need of a transmission cooler for your 4,000 pound trailer. As always, I recommend confirming with your owner's manual for the most accurate weight capacity rating. However, if you wish to extend the life of your transmission, I do recommend a transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin...

  • Comparing Curt Trailer Hitch Receivers # C99FR and C45CR For a 2022 Toyota Highlander
The main difference that you will see is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C45CR has a visible cross tube where the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99FR has a hidden cross tube. So when you have these mounted on your 2022 Toyota Highlander Limited you will either see just the receiver slot and chain loops that hangs down, or you will see the receiver and cross tube that attach to the mounting plates on the left and right frame rails. I have included images so that you can see the difference...

  • Installing Brake Controller on 2022 Toyota Highlander with 4-Way
The easiest way to install a brake controller on your 2022 Toyota Highlander with a 4-way is to first install a 7-way kit with the part # TK57VR which includes brake controller wiring as well. Then for a brake controller the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 would be a great option as it's wireless and once synced to your smart phone and plugged into a 7-way is ready to tow with.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For A 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD
For you 2023 Highlander Hybrid you'll need some different parts in order to tow you pop-up camper. For the hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT65MR. This hitch will allow you to use a weight distribution hitch, which might not really be needed with a pop-up trailer but we would be helpful later on if you ever sized up. This hitch also won't interfere with the spare tire, as some will require an 18" or smaller spare. To install a 7-way on your Highlander...

  • Recommended Tekonsha Brake Controller For 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
I recommend going with a Tekonsha brand brake controller. Especially if you will be installing # TK57VR as this kit comes with all of the necessary components to plug in a Tekonsha brand controller. Tekonsha is considered the best brand for brake controllers as far as quality, durability, and functionality. If you want a great all-around dash-mount controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This will work great in both Hybrid and non-hybrid models. This is a fully proportional...

The only hitch that is compatible with the full size 20" spare tire on a 2023 Toyota Highlander is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # EH35VR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Highlander with included hardware. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a 750 lbs maximum tongue weight.
