Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Harness For a 2022 Toyota Highlander With Hands Free Lift Gate
Question:
I read literature that this would not work on my 2022 Highlander Limited because it would block the kick sensor so you could not use the kick to open trunk. Would you explain please? Thanks

We do list a note in our installation notes that does warn that there is a possibility that the Hands Free Liftgate sensor functionality may be limited or lost with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR installed on your 2022 Toyota Highlander Limited. We do have reviews where they do mention that they do still continue to have the functionality of the hands free liftgate after the receiver is installed. This will be the same for all of our receivers for your Highlander due to the location of the kick sensor.
There is a 4-Way # TK99FR and 7-Way # TK57VR harness available for your Highlander. You can select the correct harness based on what you may be hauling. Generally smaller trailers will use the 4-way as well as hitch mounted accessories for Auxiliary Lights # C53201. 7-way connections are generally found on larger trailers with either electric brakes or on board batteries. The 4-way Mounting Bracket # 18144 or 7-way Mounting Bracket # PK12711U will be needed to secure the connection to your Highlander.
