Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement breakaway cable and the lever for the Dexter Model 6 brake actuators. Now this part here will replace a broken or damaged breakaway lever or the cable on your Model 6 brake actuator. Now basically this breakaway cable is what'll activate your trailer's brakes if the trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle. The lever right here will attach to the top of the brake actuator with the included pin. You can see the pin installed in here.
Basically when this is installed, this bottom portion right here of the lever will attach to the push rod inside the brake actuator. And this top portion, as you can see, has this cable, the breakaway cable, with, on the other end, this carabiner clasp all attached. And this is what'll connect to the tow vehicle. So basically, it's to prevent a trailer runaway situation. Basically, if this trailer comes detached from the tow vehicle, the lever is activated with this cable.
And then this part here you can see will activate the push rod into the master cylinder and bring the trailer to a halt. This part will include one lever with the pin, the breakaway cable, and the carabiner clasp all included. But that should do it for the review on this replacement breakaway cable and lever for the Dexter Model 6 brake actuators.

Perfect like for like replacement for my Military light tactical trailer.
This Breakaway Lever installed perfectly into my Titan 6 Actuator. It's a safety cable, and fortunately I haven't had to rely on it, but it should do the job of stopping my trailer if it ever breaks away from my Suburban.
Customer had a 1986 boat trailer with water damage to the brake system and wheel bearings. And of course they needed the boat the next week, which created a time crunch to get parts and do the repair. A call to etrailer was very valuable to ensure parts availability and shipping times. Everything went perfectly. It was a breeze to replace the Titan M60 master cylinder, push rod and breakaway, as well as old drum brake assemblies with the new Demco galvanized units. Replacing and repacking wheel bearings just takes time, but all parts worked perfectly.
Fits fine. Haven't had to rely on it working yet (thankfully).
Still working. All good.
