Sturdy cradle and easy to install. Difficult to keep tie down strap looped over top of "U" bar while trying to get it over the kayak, keeps slipping down. We made a channel out of foam to keep the strap in place and now it is easy.

These hooks have been great. I've used them with my 65lb kayak for over 1 year now. They've been on different cars and different types of roof racks and always holds up great. I really like how the padding all the way around the cars protects your boat. Highly recommend!!

We purchased two sets of the Rhino Rack J Style Kayak Carrier since we have two kayaks. They work great and were easy to install. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the tie down straps. We bought them a year ago and used them quite a bit since then with no problems.

Product is as it says it is. Fast, free shipping from etrailer.com too! Haven't had chance yet to take the kayaks on a trip yet but don't expect any problem as these are meant for wide and heavy kayaks. Also before i forget, etrailer.com did answer my question before purchase online...basically confirming they'd hold my wide fishing kayaks and its max weight limit of 99lbs.
I've attached pictures to show my setup...sweet looking with two pair of these J-Carriers, my Yakima rack and roll 78 trailer plus the Thule Medium Sonic Carrier in between the J-Carriers. Looks nice!

2013 Ford Escape- Factory Raised Rails with Factory Crossbars
I'm overall satisfied with the looks and the overall functionality of the Rhino-Rack Kayak Roof Rack (J-style) and would have given the product 5*, however, the install on the factory crossbars did not work due to clearance issues between the roof and the bottom of the bar, the thinness of the crossbars, and the teardrop shape of the crossbars. Because I'm pretty happy with the overall functionality of the Rhino-Rack Kayak Carriers, I am opting to remove the factory crossbars and replacing them with the Inno Aero Crossbars/ Flush Feet in order to give me the clearance and piece of mind while traveling with our 2 kayaks.

These mounts are great! I bought two of them to mount on the Rhino-Rack RS 2500 Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Vortex Aero Crossbars (RRRS118B) along with one set of Anchor Straps (RRRBAS-2). I really like that the angle is adjustable with markers to be consistent. It makes mounting your paddle on the upright bars before placing the kayak a piece of cake. I dont normally leave them on if not in use because it wouldn't take much to steal them and the added drag isn't necessary. I considered only getting one and buying the extension piece (RRS512X). However, I was concerned about where I would put the second paddle and having the ability to mount 2 kayaks at angles less than vertical seemed like a bonus. Considering the small price difference it was worth it to me to get two. The straps that come with are more than sufficient for any car and probably most trucks. The blue ones are a bit long for my application. I had an issue keeping the excess length contained on the freeway, probably going to cut them. All together, these mounts are very sturdy and give a great deal of confidence even with a crosswind on the freeway. Note on the photos: I have a hitch on my car with chain loops so I only needed the anchors for the front.

I've mounted both the Rhino-Rack RS 2500 Roof Rack and these S512 J-style Folding Kayak Carriers that I purchased from etrailer. Everything was easy to install, fits well, looks and works great! I am extremely happy with the products, the deliveries and the customer service rep was friendly and helpful when I had a question about the fit of the kayak carriers. I own a 2009 Honda Ridgeline and the carrier rack looks great with very little wind noise while driving. I'm taking the kayak out for a trip tomorrow morning.

These racks are so great! The option to fold them down means I can leave them on the car for a few days between kayak trips. They’re very sturdy and we love that they come with the tie down straps, but I wish the hood/trunk anchors were included. Just another order I guess!

I chose these because they lie flat against the roof the vehicle when you don't need them or you want to load your kayak. I built a fixture that goes into the receiver on my trailer hitch, so I can place one end of my kayak on it and roll in onto the roof. So having the kayak carrier fast makes this so much easier. The cam action of the fasteners to that allow you to lay it flat work well. I do wish the T-bolts were included!

Purchased these alongside a Rhino Rack roof rack system and love them. The paddle holders are great, and I enjoy how these fold up and down and can be calibrated to the width of the vehicle. These feel very sturdy. I recommend Rhino Rack!

The Rhino Rack is excellent. Solid and sturdy and comes with quality ropes and tie downs and clips that won't ruin your car during tie down. A great buy that will last and will keep the driver without worries.
