Carrying Kayks On A 2016 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I have a 2016 Sienna with factory rails and crossbars. Im looking to buy 2 light weight = 40lb, ~12 ft kayaks and folding, lockable carriers. Do you suggest I replace the crossbars? If so, with what? And what do you suggest for the carriers? Im leaning toward gear from either Thule or Yakima. Thanks!

Your roof racks factory weight limit is 150lbs. You should not have any problems carrying kayaks on the roof of your 2016 Toyota Sienna due to their weight. Your kayak carriers will need to be able to attach to a factory rack. I recommend the Rhino-Rack 2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Side Loading, part # S512-S512X. It is a j-style carrier that can be adjusted to carry to kayaks like a stacker, or to a more traditional j-style rack if you need to carry just one kayak on the roof of the vehicle.
