What 2-Kayak Carrier do You Recommend for Yukon Angler 116 75-Pound Kayaks?

Question:

I have a 2014 Chevy traverse. It came with what I believe to be manufacturers cross bars. I have two 75 pounder kayaks that are 11ft 6in long and 32in wide. Would like to transport both of them on top of my vehicle but I don’t know what I need. Got a feeling I’m gonna need better cross bars. Which isn’t a big deal just need some detection been trying to find my answer on the web for two days.

While you most likely can use your factory crossbars for transporting 2 75 pound kayaks, we do not currently carry an aftermarket crossbar option to replace the factory bars you have mounted. This is because roof rack manufacturers do not test their crossbar systems with vehicles that already have factory crossbars. With that factor, there is no way to confirm if the aftermarket bars fit.

With that being said, I have a solution that not only provides you with the weight capacity you need without taking up a lot of crossbar space. That is the Rhino-Rack 2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style # S512-S512X. With this carrier, it has a 165 pound maximum weight capacity which is perfect for your 2 Yukon Anglers. You also don't need to worry about purchasing additional straps since the carrier comes with 4 load straps and 4 bow/stern ties. As far as compatibility, the carrier is compatible with round, aero, and elliptical crossbars that do not exceed 3-1/8" wide x 1-3/16" tall. In order to make sure that your crossbars are compatible, I recommend that you measure your OEM crossbars to make sure they fall within these parameters. I attached a video that shows the carrier with 2 kayaks loaded side by side to provide you with perspective.

To add theft deterrence to the cradles, I recommend using the etrailer Cable Lock # e98891. With this cable, you can loop it through the cradles and wrap it around the crossbars/rails.
