Rotating Arm with Ratcheting Hook

RockyMount 10007 MonoRail Solo Bike Rack Adjustable Arms

The MonoRail Solo has a ratcheting hook that s your bike firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying a carbon bike or bike with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Pivoting Rear Wheel Cradle

RockyMount 10007 MonoRail Solo Adjustable Ratchet Straps

The rear wheel cradle accommodates a wide variety of bike wheelbases. It pivots front to back, adjusting automatically to your bike's wheelbase - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheel in place with the built-in ratcheting strap. The strap also includes an extender for use with a fat bike.

Front-Mounted Release Lever for Easy Tilting

RockyMounts Mono Rail Solo Tilt Action Lever

When the rack is unloaded you can pull the lever to fold it up for storage. This means you don't have to remove it to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages.

Easy Installation

RockyMounts MonoRail Anti Rattle Hitch Pin

It installs with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Hitch Adapter

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Complete Security

RockyMount 1007 MonoRail Solo Built-In Cable Lock

Included locks secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frame and inserts into the lock that slides along the cable.

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Locking Hitch Pin

The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin and locks in place. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.

Optional 1-Bike Add-On

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Add-On 1-Bike Extension

An optional 1-bike add-on (sold separately) allows you to convert the rack from a single bike carrier to a 2-bike carrier. This is great for occasions when a friend wants to tag along, or if you find a permanent riding partner.

I just finished installing this rack on my 2017 Subaru Outback. I've been researching platform racks for about 2 months now, and the most important things to me (other than a reasonable price) were no frame contact, ease of getting the bike on and off the rack, not too heavy for me to take it off the car, and enough clearance in the back for me to close my garage door. This rack is perfect for me. And I like that it's expandable to two bikes if I want to do that down the line. It came very well packaged. I am a single gal and not handy AT ALL, but I was able to do the installation with no problem. I did put my bike on the rack and took a short test ride, it was very stable. Very solid well made product!

One year later, still loving my Rocky Mounts bike rack. Easy to get on and off when the seasons change, easy to take my bike on and off, doesnt interfere with my tailgate at all. I get lots of questions about it!

by:

could have been so much better if the front wheel backstop had been designed to fold back to allow easier loading of front tire. almost a deal breaker. the install was straight forward, all parts accounted for and decent materials for the price. but like I said with a bit of thoughtful engineering with that front backstop it would have rated a 4 that's if no surprises come up traveling a distance with the bike loaded. My bike is RadCity 5+ and weighs about 55 pounds without the battery. The weight compounds the awkward loading with that tall front backstop in the way. I doubt I would have noticed if I had been loading a light weight road bike.

by:

Easy, clear instructions for assembly. Sturdy construction. Easily removed from vehicle if not using for a while. Love the blue pull handle to change orientation of rack, with or without bike mounted. Bike loading with my heavier hybrid is no problem, even for this "old" lady.

by:

Feels solid, minimal wobbling. Easy to get bike on and off, and to access the trunk with the bike on. Like that it can be expanded to hold 2 bikes, and the relatively low cost. Used with a Curt hitch from this site on a 2017 Miata.

After a year of constant use, its still good, but requires occasional lubrication. Also the extension for the second bike has trouble with bolts coming loose, and requires loctite every time its installed. Finally, the wobble with 2 bikes on the 1 14 reciever is enough to make you drive a bit more carefully. If you can fit it, get the 2. For a single bike use I think this is still best bang for buck.

I'm a repeat customer of RockMounts and Etrailer. You can't beat RockyMounts products and build quality and you can't beat Etrailer prices, shipping and customer service. Awesome!

by:

This was my very first purchase ever of a bike rack and I have to say that not only was etrailer.com the best price I found but also the most helpful with information on the various racks available. I wanted a single bike rack for my new eBike and after looking through numerous possibilities, finally decided on the Rockymounts Monorail Solo as not only did it fit the bill for a single bike but also has the advantage of an add-on rack should I ever decide I need to haul around two bikes rather than just one.

My major priorities were a rack that would safely hold the additional weight of an eBike, be easy to mount as I'm older and have a bad back on occasion and not break the bank with cost. After watching the available online video and using the easy-to-follow enclosed instructions and tools, I was able to install the RockyMounts Monorail Solo rack quite effortlessly by myself in less than 30 minutes.

Loading and unloading my bike (which weighs about 50 pounds) is quite easy and when not in use, the rack folds up close to the back of my car. Should I need to access the back of my Tucson while the bike is loaded, it's very easy to lean the rack forward and open the hatch. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solo rack.

by:

This works really well for my single electric bike. The bike is heavy and this rack handles the the weight well. At first I had trouble lifting the bike onto the rack because I was trying to lift the entire bike at once. I learned that it is much easier to lift the rear tire into place and loosely strap it and then lift the front of the bike into place and clamp the front tire in place. Then you make adjustments to the clamp and strap to fully secure the bike. This way you’re only lifting half the bikes weight and it’s a lot easier to handle. You can remove the bike in the same manner, one wheel at a time.

I’ve enjoyed using this rack. I’ve had it a year and believe it’s a quality product.

by:

The MonoRail Solo is a very good piece of kit that suits my needs just fine. Mounting to the trailer hitch, and dismounting, is straightforward and only takes a couple of minutes - I'm the type of user who uses the rack only as needed, and does not leave it hanging off the back of my vehicle at all times. The tilt-down feature works smoothly and is very welcome for tailgate access. The fit and finish of the rack are good, and the price is a bit more attractive than some of the other options on the market. I'm fully satisfied with the product, and the etrailer service and shipping was excellent!

by:

Product came on the day they expected it to arrive. Was very easy to put together and install. Having the videos and information about product on there website you know what to expect and to do before it even arrives. Bicycle rack seems well built and sturdy. Thanks Etrailer. Will be ordering a trailer hitch for my car in a couple weeks.

by:

The hitch is tight, so it does not rattle. The two bolts holding the wheel cups should be about 1/4 inch longer, as they required a clamp to draw them together enough to get them started into the lock nut. The height of the front wheel cup's rear retainer makes it difficult to lift the bike high enough to set the front wheel in the cup. This may only be a problem for a heavier e-bike.
The folding mechanism works very well to tilt back enough to open the car's rear gate and easily folds forward for tight storage against the vehicle.

Great single bike option.

Absolutely great, flawless performance and superior quality. No issues since installing the bike rack. Just great!!

by:

I am very pleased with the RockyMounts bike rack. The fit and finish are excellent and the anti-rattle mount actually works, NO rattling! I previously purchased the 2” receiver hitch and wiring harness from etrailer and couldn’t be happier. Thanks for fine products.

by:

I love this bike rack. So compact when folded up, and I can open my hatchback with ease. When extended and carrying a bike, it's solid and dependable. Highly recommended. And dealing with etrailer is always a pleasure.

by:

This was the perfect rack for my heavy (60lb) e-bike. Minimal movement while driving and very secure hold. The included hitch lock and cable lock (same key) provide additional security

by:

Great rack! I bought this to take my bike across the country. Needed something that could easily allow me to ride when I wanted. It fit perfect on my Subaru Baja. The tilt function really made this rack functional while en route. I drove on some pretty gnarly roads and the rack held up great. It did get a little shaky and noisy when on loose gravel but that was to be expected. I've had the rack for about a year now and still no complaints.
When I received the rack the box was damaged and the rubber parts had some dings on them. Customer service was super helpful and made everything right.
Definitely recommend these guys over competitors.

by:

Installed easily. Solidly made. Reasonable weight. Ample space between rack and hatch when not in use allows the hatch to open and close normally. Handles work properly. Easy to put the bike on and take off. Wheel tray distance from the ground is manageable, even with the higher weight of an e-bike. Tilt-away feature adds convenience. I use this rack for an e-bike with a downtube battery. By grabbing the front wheel and rear tire, the retention system does not interfere with the e-bike battery in any way (though I routinely remove it for travel) while leaving frame untouched. I only needed for one bike - the others easily go on the roof, but I like the option of adding a second carrier if and when needed.

by:

I bought this rack to carry a Trek Verve+2 electric bike on back of 2019 Tundra. The rack was easy to assemble, only 6 screws and fitting to hitch. Instructions very clear, overall quality excellent. It doesn’t wobble at all because it is bolted to the hitch. Note that bar that fits across front wheel needs to be past top center of wheel, preferably against fork. So, if you have a front fender, you may have a problem. My Trek has a front fender, but I was able to go under it after adjusting it higher. I am close to forks, but not up against them, and it is very secure. On theft security, the two matching locks for hitch and a separate cable work well.

by:

Easy to assemble in a few steps, included all tools necessary, plus locks and keys.
Lightweight but sturdy bike rack. Installed on a 2013 Prius C and the hatchback just clears the rack when not in use (added bonus!). Low profile design but with plenty of ground clearance.
No wobble design is a plus too.
Overall very impressed with the quality and fitment. And once again very happy with etrailer’s service and quick shipping.

by:

The rack arrived on time and was very easy to assemble. The provided directions are well written, making everything simple. The stability of the rack is top notch. I highly recommend both the RockyMounts bike rack and ETrailer.

by:

Bought this Solo RockyMount rack for my E-bike. Not easy to find a bike rack that holds fat tires and the weight of the E-bike.
This bike rack is better than I had hoped for, very well built but light weight and my E-bike goes on it very easy.

by:

The rack is solidly built and hold the bike securely. The reason I purchased this rack is for single bike transport while being light weight and easy to handle. I am reducing one star due to the rather cheap feeling of the hitch pin lock. It feels mostly plastic with the exception of the internal locking mechanism. I would not put very much faith in it's security.

Great, Its what I grab 99 of the time

by:

Rack arrived in perfect condition in manufacturers packaging. Very clear assembly instructions. Arrived quickly. Great support on phone helping to check fit with my car and placing order.

by:

Happy with the bike mount for my new e mountain bike, nice and stable.

by:

I probably should have done a bit more research, but unfortunately I am unable to open my rear doors with mount attached, even in the titled form. Other than that, the bike mount is nice and very well built. It’s quite heavy but not too bad. It’s easy to put your bike on it and easy to remove.

by:

Very happy with this bike rack. It's one of the few single bike racks that can carry my 27.5 X 4.5 fat bike. The tires fit nicely and securely in the trays. I can see that even a 5" wide tire will also fit. Easy to assemble and comes with two locks, one for the receiver and one for the security cable. It's a well thought out design. It's replacing my Thule T-2 rack than cannot accommodate fat tires; I would have had to buy a 2-bike Thule in order to fit the fat bike tires but I don't need a 2 bike rack especially at the price Thule is asking. Much thanks to Joanne at trailer.com for finding this solution for me. I have found etrailer.com has every hitch and mounting part I ever needed. I don't even check the price anymore. I know I'll get what I need, I'll get expert advice (their videos are quite helpful;pful) and shipping is very fast.

  • Availability of RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack with 2 Shank
The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10007-05 is only available with the 1-1/4" shank that comes with the adapter sleeve for a 2" receiver. The section for a second bike can be removed though so that it's the exact same thing as the MonoRail Solo 1 # RKY10007. If your only reservation is about the adapter sleeve then I'd go with this bike rack because all of the other bike racks either can't carry up to two 60 lb bikes, or they can't be converted into a one bike rack.
