Video Transcript for Lippert Ground Control Leveling System Control Panel Review

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 and travel trailer replacement touchpad. Have you been experiencing some issues with your ground control touch pad, maybe your buttons aren't working, which is pretty much the most common cause here on our touchpad issues is just after a while the sensors on the inside of our computer chip here kind of just wear out over time and then just doesn't really want to activate. So, the replacement touchpad is gonna be the only solution that you can really go with. It's just gonna completely replace your whole pad, since there is not a way to just replace the buttons themselves. Here's what your replacement Lippert touchpad is going to look like once it's fully installed. Just like with your original one, it is going to allow you to manually adjust your jacks or auto level all of your jacks.

And, you can also set it to know exactly what height you need to be at when you're trying to hook up your truck. There isn't really that much troubleshooting that you can really do with the system besides just resetting the zero point calibration. So, if your touchpad isn't really working, it probably is time to replace it. Other than that, the only other way to activate your leveling jacks would be to physically get under your trailer and actually manually crank those down with a wrench. And then also, the same for your landing gears, which can be a pretty big hassle.

Installation of your replacement touchpad should only take a few minutes. The hardest part really is just kind of popping it out of the base and then popping it back in, just cuz those tabs really aren't too forgiving. They don't really wanna pop in or out at all. But, let me show you how we did that. Your touchpad for your leveling system is typically going to be up in the front.

If you're replacing yours on a fifth wheel, typically it'll be right up next to your landing gears. If not, it's gonna be in that first cargo bay, usually right on the side. Typically on fifth wheels, it will be on the driver's side. And ours today, it is in that cargo box, and we have it right up here. Clean design, actually made a nice little cutout for it here, so we don't have to retrofit our own or make any additional holes here.

But, we're gonna just take our screws off so that we can gain access to the back of our touchpad. So, if we look on the back here, we have our wiring harness. We can just pinch that clip, pull that out. Now to get to our mounting screws for our little bracket that we have here. We're going to need to take either a little flathead or a pick to kinda pull that pad out. Get down in there. Also, need to slowly kind of pop this out, be careful, these pins aren't really cooperative. Just work your way around it. So, with our touchpad, actually off of our base now, we can take a look at the back. You can get a better idea of exactly how our touchpad connects, just that little four prong connector. Since we're just replacing that, I'm gonna go ahead and just keep reusing our base and the base the grand design gave us. If this was a new install, you would just need to make sure that you had a cutout that's gonna fit this little inner portion so they can sit flush in the wall Then, you'll have four screws that you can use to actually mount it up to the wall of your cargo compartment. So, we'll then begin to pop our tabs into our base. This can be a little bit of a hassle. put new pad on, we can go ahead and reconnect it and then put our base back in place and hide our wiring through that little cut. Now, we can go ahead and start mounting our base back up and we can turn on our touchpad. Now that we're powered up, we can go ahead and adjust our jacks. Do anything we need to look through our settings here and we'll be all good to go. Well, I think that about does it for our look at the touchpad for Lippert Ground Control 3.0 and travel trailer leveling systems. My name's Kevin. Thanks for watching..

Unit was perfect replacement for older touch pad very pleased all work out perfectly.

by:

Just received the new touchpad. All looks good. Fortunately, I watched the etrailer video on touchpad replacement because removing the touchpad from its base was not very easy. While trying to pry the touchpad from the base it is not obvious how thick the touchpad is. Initially I did not insert the pry tool deep enough and it caught the thin (about 1/32 inch) touchpad surface, with writing on it, that is glued to its back plate and it started to separate. I quickly stopped, watched the video closely, and realized the total thickness of the touchpad with its glued on labeled surface and its own back plate is about 3/32 inch. Installers should make sure to push the pry tool in deep enough to catch the true back surface of the plate. Also recommend you start prying at the top middle (knotched) and slowly work around. Other than that all is well.

I needed a replacement control panel for our 2016 Heartland Cyclone. The detailed pictures online made it easy to identify the part and if it was the right one. The part online was slightly different from my original part, but worked perfectly!

I did reach out to the manufacturer and they will be sending out a replacement to you. It is unusual for this to happen.

I was very impressed with Madison. She did an excellent job got me the correct module. I installed it and it works great.

by:

This is a perfect replacement on our 2014 Redwood! I love the shipping process from etrailer. I could track it all the way right to my mailbox.

by:

For this order I used the "Place Order on Hold" feature at etrailer while I worked with Lippert to ensure my old part needed to be replaced. After confirming the conversion to order worked smoothly and promptly with the part arriving one day early. Additionally, etrailer support was also helpful in troubleshooting and getting me connected to Lippert. Part seems to be working great for now. For anyone else receiving this part I tried using the existing base and had some trouble but the new one etrailer sent with the touch pad worked great.

Working well

by:

I haven't received the item. UPS said they left it on the back porch but i have ring video and the truck pulled up in front of my house and left a package over the gate like they usually do. However, the package was from the Veteran Administration for me. Point is, i haven't received the above item yet. i tried to file a claim and ups wouldn't let me do it yesterday.
i still don't have my lippet control board yet

by:

Easy to install. Replaced mine because the display had become very dim and I could barely read it. About a year later and it's still working fine.

by:

Worked out of the box. No issues, will purchase from etrailer.com again.

by:

Great pricing and fast delivery.

by:

Simple installation of the new control completely solved the non-functioning key issues I had with the original keypad/circuit board that was 10 years old. Old pad buttons had required increasing amounts of finger pressure for operation for last few years until certain buttons would not work at all. Wish I had purchased and installed three years ago. etrailer had the best price on this product. Roger at etrailer was a great help and Lippert Customer Service was also very helpful with all maintenance questions for the trailer jack system.

by:

From a prior question concerning the lippert leveling control panel being answered by one of etrailer technicians allowed me to identify the part needed for my repairs. Purchased part, arrived a few days later, installed and now faults is repaired.

by:

We were in desperate need of a new control panel or our rig wouldn't work. Everyone at etrailer was great, even helping get a delivery address corrected!

Just what I needed, solved the problem with my auto leveling system. Quick response, great service

by:

Worked like a champ. Installation was easy and quick. At first had my doubts, but, in examination of the board and saw everything matched up with the old board, I was satisfied.

by:

Ordered entry steps and a controller for my leveling system .controller had a little bubble rap around it and put in the box with the steps didn't tape it down so it just bounced around in the box. When I received it was in three pieces it did work for now. That's why I give three stars because of packaging

It does indeed sound like you are not getting power to your system, especially since you had power before changing your batteries.
