Not Getting Power to Lippert Ground Control 3.0 After Replacing Trailer Batteries

Question:

I have been sitting in the same park for the past 2 1/2 months on shore power. Went to check the Lippert 6-point leveling system to see if I was still level just had front two legs replaced prior to coming here. When I turned on the control box, it displayed a faintly lit “low power”. In checking power, I determined my batteries were suspect. Removed them and had them tested. Results confirmed my suspicion so I bought two new batteries and installed them. Checked the batteries to be sure they had power and they did. Checked the Lippert master control and it showed 13.5 charge to batteries. But, the leveling control panel will not come in at all. An intuitive guess would be that the Lippert leveling system - or, at least the control box - is not getting power, but why? I can’t locate its power source to test.

It does indeed sound like you are not getting power to your system, especially since you had power before changing your batteries. The power source can be difficult to locate, so the best way to find that will be to contact the manufacturer of the trailer. As long as you have your VIN, they should be able to tell you exactly where it is. If for some reason they cannot, I'm sorry to say that you will need to follow the wires to find the source.

One thing to check is the power source at the back of the controller # LC421484. This could have shorted out when the batteries were installed and just needs replacement. If you are not getting power though, it is deeper than the control panel being bad.

I would also make sure you double check that all wires were reinstalled on the batteries, as it is pretty likely one connection got missed causing your issue.
