Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Paneloc Slam Latch with Cover. A slam latch is ideal for doors, drawers, truck and trailer bodies, construction equipment, farm equipment, and all aircraft applications. Slam latches are very versatile and can be used for many different reasons. The latch does offer easy operation, as well as secure closure. I do want to point out that it's got the square shaped spring that fits the square shaped pin perfectly for hassle-free operation. This latch does come with a cover.
It goes over that area there. The mount holes line up perfectly with the holes in the body, and that's going to offer protection to the spring. It also adds a clean finished look to the unit. The entire unit's made from a durable steel construction with a zinc-plated finish. It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. You'll notice that here on the handle it's got the rubber cover.
That's going to be secured on there with adhesive so that's going to prevent the grip from slipping off. The handle simply provides a nice, easy grip design for the latch. When it comes to the dimensions, starting with the body first measuring edge to edge of the body, it's going to measure about 2-7/8" long. Edge to edge this direction, it's going to measure 2" wide. From the mounting surface to the top of the body's about 1".
The overall height from the mounting surface to the top of the handle is about 1-5/8" tall. The pin itself, edge to edge, measures about 4-7/8". It is a square design measuring a 1/2" by 1/2". The extension is how far the pin extends from the body. That's going to give us an extension of 3/4". The mount hole's on this unit going this direction are separated apart from one another on center by about 1-15/16".
Going this direction, they're separated apart from one another on center by about 1-3/8". Each hole has a 1/4" diameter. There's four holes total. Mounting hardware not included. That's going to do it for today's look at the Paneloc Slam Latch with the Cover.

The latches are actually not designed to fit the thickness of the door so you could use whichever size would allow the pin to catch in the door lip. f you were able to make it so the door did not have a gap, then you could use a door latch such as the Paneloc Slam Latch # F708-204P011, which is 2" long x 1-5/8" wide with a mounting hole diameter of 3/16" and a pin width of 7/16".
