Today we're going to be taking a look at the panel lock slam latch. A slam latch is ideal for doors, drawers, truck and trailer bodies, construction equipment, farm equipment, and all aircraft applications. Slam latches are very versatile and can be used for a lot of different reasons. The latch does offer easy operation as well as secure closure. The square shape of the spring fits the square pin perfectly for hassle free operation. The unit is made from a steel construction that features a zinc plated finish. It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion.

We're going to have a rubber cover on the handle. It's secured on there with adhesive so it's going to prevent the grip from slipping off. The handle just offers a nice easy grip design. A few measurements to go over with real quick starting with the body of the latch. It's going to measure two and seven eighths of an inch this direction, two inches this direction. From the bottom or the mounting surface to the top of the body measures about one inch tall.

If you take a measurement of the overall height from the mounting surface to the top of the handle, it's about one and five eighths of an inch tall. The pin itself, overall length of the pin is four and seven eighths of an inch long and you can see here that it's a square design and that's going to measure half inch by a half inch. The extension is how far the the pin extends out from the body. That's going to measure three quarters of an inch on this latch. The mount holes on the unit are separated on center this direction by one and 15 16ths of an inch.

Going this direction they're separated by one and three eighths of an inch. Each mount hole has a quarter inch diameter and mounting hardware is not included. That's going to do it for today's look at the panel lock slam latch.
