The door spring works well. The installation instructions were awful. Fortunately our shop is full of mechanics who could figure it out.

by:

Very heavy duty spring, would not bolt up to my trailer as is l had to drill 2 holes in each bracket and bolt it on to my existing bracket, this spring is much more thicker and wider in diameter that's why it doesn't bolt up directly but it is a very easy modification.lm a bread man and l have a hallmark edge trailer with and extremely heavy door the spring it comes with works good but they only last about two or so.l don't think l will have to worry about changing the spring for a good long time, based on the size and the way it effortlessly handles the weight of the door.lf you will notice one of these springs way smaller and has a smaller bolt pattern notice on the other photo the ramp door is open anthe spring is barely stressed but the door is very easy to pull down and you can raise it up with one arm.

The coil spring works great. I saw a ramp door online and copied it for my shed. I built the ramp door from the shed double opening doors and used most of the parts from etrailer.com The dual spring is used to assist opening and closing the ramp door. I calculated the weight and called etrailer.com and they helped me size the dual spring.

  • How To Choose Correct Ramp Door Spring for a Nitro Toy Hauler Trailer
The Conventional Ramp Door Spring part # CB250D96SHD is designed for a trailer door measuring 80" to 96" wide with a hinged weight up to 250 lbs. In order to confirm fit, you'll first need to measure your door end to end. Then, you'll need to find the hinged weight which is calculated by placing a scale on the ground in the center of the landing path of the door edge (no cables attached). If the weight is between 230-250 lbs per se then this would be a great option for you. If you have...

  • Recommended Ramp Spring for Toy Hauler
I'd recommend a heavy duty ramp spring like part # CB250D96SHD. The unit is 96 inches wide, but could be cut down to a minimum of 80 inches if needed. It's recommended that these springs be professionally installed, as torsion springs can be extremely dangerous to install unless you're familiar with how to tension the springs.

  • Enclosed Cargo Trailer Ramp Door Lifting Capacity Determination
The Conventional Ramp Door Spring # CB250D96SHD on your trailer is similar to that of a home garage. The best way to determine how much weight your current system is capable of lifting you can find calculators online or contact a garage door service company. The weight that the springs can lift are determined by the length of the springs, diameter of the coil, and thickness of the coil material. The kit that I have referenced is capable of lifting 250lbs of door. This means if you were...

  • How to Determine Right Spring For Ramp
Hi there John; I'd love to tell you exactly what you need but you have to know the weight of the door, there just isn't any way around it. There isn't a product or kit to completely eliminate the spring and cable so to find the right one you need the weight of the door (which the trailer manufacturer should be able to tell you) and the width of the door. For example an 80" to 96" wide trailer door that is up to 250 lbs would use the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer...

The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD are just like garage springs. There is nothing really required to maintain them other than visual inspection and light grease on the moving parts. If they lose tension or require cable maintenance, it is recommended to have a garage door professional do the work on them due to the high tension.

  • Trailer Ramp Spring Recommendation for a 66 Inch Wide Door
As you mentioned, we do offer the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring - 81 Inch Wide, # ERS120D81. This ramp spring needs a minimum of 56 inches in order for the drums and cables to wind properly. With your rear ramp door being 66 inches wide, this ramp spring would work for your trailer. The weight capacity is 120 pounds. I pulled the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring - 96 Inch, # CB250D96SHD, from our warehouse and also spoke with my contact at M-3 to see if there was any way that this would work...

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 6x12 Enclosed Trailer
When selecting ramp springs for a trailer ramp, you will want to know the diameter of your hinge pin and how much space you have available in the hinge. A typical enclosed trailer ramp uses 3/4 inch hinge pins and would require two ramp springs with a 3/4 inch inner diameter. The ramp springs that we carry fit 1-1/2 inch diameter hinge pins and are designed for use with heavy-duty steel ramps like those on equipment trailers or car haulers. The spring slips over the hinge pin and requires...

  • Ramp Spring For Rear Door of 2015 Forest River Vengeance 5th Wheel Toy Hauler
We do offer a ramp spring that would work for you. According to my research, your Forest River Vengeance Toy hauler is about 8-1/2 feet wide, which means that you'd need an 8 foot spring. The exact spring needed would depend on exactly how heavy the door is. We offer a 250 lb spring as part # CB250D96SHD, a 230 lb spring as part #362SA8HD, a 150 lb spring as part # 362SW81 or a 120 lb spring as part # M354FR. • Could the Ramp Spring Part # CB250D96SHD Replace a Smaller Ramp Spring
The closest ramp spring we have to what you have is the part # CB250D96SHD that you referenced which is slightly larger than your current setup but could still be made to work. It can be cut down to a minimum length of 80 inches. We strongly recommend having a professional overhead door technician install the spring for you. The spring needs to be tensioned, and if it lets loose accidentally it would fling tools at high enough velocity to easily kill someone.

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 8 Foot Wide Enclosed Trailer
You'll want to choose a spring that's the same width as the ramp door. I'm afraid that the # ERS120D81 you mentioned would be too narrow. You'd want to use #CB250D96SHD, which is 96 inches wide. You'll have to take about 2 inches off each side of the pipe, but this would be your best bet. We HIGHLY recommend having the spring installed by somebody who's experienced with torsion springs. Tensioning the spring is a dangerous job that shouldn't be undertaken by somebody who's not familiar...

  • Can Mounting Brackets be Moved on Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring
It is not recommended to adjust any of the parts attached to the main tube of a spring like # CB250D96SHD because of the tension on the springs. Only a certified garage door installer should make adjustments. While it is possible to move the brackets it would be easier to just move the top L-brackets to point out instead of in or just replace them with longer L-brackets to fit the mounts you have.

  • Overhead Ramp Spring for Rear Door of 2005 Featherlite 1648 Snowmobile Trailer
The spring needed will depend on the inside width of the trailer and the weight of the door. I looked online found that the Featherlite 1648 is 8 feet 6 inches wide. I'd recommend the # CB250D96SHD from M-3 Industries. The assembly is 8 foot long, and has a 250 lb capacity, which should work well for your trailer. Unless you have experience installing torsion springs, please leave the installation of this spring to a professional.
