Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Camco Fold-away RV Grab Handle. This unit makes entering and exiting your RV easier and safer. It features a weather-resistant design. It can be installed on either side of your door, and it can rotate to the sides to lay flat against the RV when the handle's not being used. It's got spring-loaded mechanisms here in the bracket, and so whenever you want to rotate it all you have to do is lift up on the handle and then rotate it to the side. And that's what we mean by it laying flat against the side of the RV.
It can also rotate to this side, so you can just lift up, rotate it to the opposite side.So it's a really nice, easy to use unit. Installation's pretty simple as well. It comes with all the necessary installation hardware that you need, which is just four of these screws right here. These screws measure two inches long, and they have a diameter of just a little over 3/16th of an inch, so almost a quarter of an inch, but somewhere right in between 3/16th of an inch to a quarter inch diameter. So four screws are included, two per bracket, and it's got these nice caps that go over the installation hardware, which keeps your hardware protected and it adds a really nice clean finished look to the unit.The handle itself is made from durable aluminum construction.
You don't have to worry about the handle bending or breaking, and you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion. It features a really nice ergonomic design that provides solid, secure grip. It actually has this nice foam handle right here, so it's very comfortable to grab onto when entering and exiting your RV. That grip area measures 9-3/4 of an inch long.It's available in three different colors. What I'm showing you right now is white, so it's available in white with part number CAM42176, black with part number CAM42175, and sliver with part number CAM42177.
The handrail tube, this is a one inch diameter tube. Overall height from the very top of this bracket to the very bottom of this bracket is 28-1/4 inches. The height from the top edge of the top bracket that makes contact with the mounting surface, so this area right here, to the bottom edge of the bottom bracket that makes contact with the mounting surface, that measured 26-3/4 inches. The depth from the wall, so from the wall to the furthest outpoint of the handle, that measures 14-1/4 inches. When it's folded to the side, the thickest or deepest point is right here at the brackets, which only sticks out about 2-3/4 inches from the installation area.Also, when folded to the side, from the edge of the bracket to the furthest outpoint of the handle is about 13-1/4 inches.
Again, that's when folded, so when it's in this position here, from the back edge of these brackets to the furthest outpoint is where we get the 13-1/4 inch measurement from, and then that depth measurement of 2-3/4 inches is from the installation surface to the outer edge of the bracket. The mount holes, again two screws per bracket. Mount holes are separated on center by 23-1/2 inches, and again the hardware is included to get everything installed.That's going to do it for today's look at the Camco Fold-away RV Grab Handle.

Includes all installation hardware.The grab handle had one problem: While trying to install it, the spring mechanism on the bottom part of the bar came apart. The small metal lock washer came off and this caused the spring to fly off. I could not get the lock washer to stay on after that. Went to ACE Hardware to locate another but could not find one that fit. Ended up replacing the lock washer with a nut and and threaded bolt to replace the long metal rod on which the spring is placed. It now works but not as smoothly due to the threads on the bolt which makes moving the handle up and down more rough. It would be nice to receive a replacement for the hardware for at least one side of the bar.
This handle is fine but it is not great. The price on it was much better than I expected something like this to be. The reason for that is that it is not all that some of the more expensive handles are. I got what I paid for and am happy with it. I am disappointed that I did not just spend the extra and get the handle I knew I wanted.

It's light weight and feels a little cheap. It's more of a grip to help stabilize you when going up the steps, I wouldn't put any weight on it.
I chose this one in the hopes I wouldn't have to drill new holes. However, Camco changed the mounting design a little so drilling was required. Now there are only two mounting screws where the old one had four.

Very nice handle and easy to install. It is nice quality and took me less than 10 minutes to install. I do like how it folds away. I have a 29' motorhome and I think if I was to do it again, I would look into getting a smaller one. It works great and the wife likes it, so that is all that matters.
The hand rail is the right size! But the staples used on the shipping box made scares on the handle itself! I should have sent it back but I need it right now! The new rail is more secure than the original rail! So I keeper it! the video for sizing was right on the mark!, send black paint!

Exactly what I wanted to add to the back door of our travel trailer. Product was of excellent quality and installation was easy.
