Video Transcript for Review of Curt Wiring - Wiring Adapters - C96KR

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the CURT Adapter 4-Way to 7-Way Blade RV wiring. So this allows you to have that 7-pole wiring in the back of your RV so you can connect to a towed vehicle or to another accessory that needs that wiring connection. So it's going to connect to our 4-pole on the RV. You do already have to have one installed. If you don't, you will be able to find some options here at etrailer.com to get that wiring in place. Then our other connections are going to be there as well.

So we can have all the functions necessary to run our supplemental braking system or diode wiring, and all that fun stuff for our flat tow.So let's take a closer look at it and make sure that this is going to be the right fit for you. The nice thing about this particular harness is that it does come with it a built-in tester. So on the side here are going to be some indicator lights. If something is happening with one of those, it'll let you know that the wiring is not connected properly. So normally you should have a signal from all those wires, and you can test everything out to make sure that it's functioning properly.

On the inside you can see we'll have our seven blade connector, that is a spring-loaded lid there to keep that secure and covered whenever we're not using it. Then on that lid there's also a little tab to hook into our 7-pole wiring so that helps to keep that in place and keep it from falling out.For our connections to our RV, again we'll have that 4-pole wiring, so it's going to give us our ground, the running lights, and then the right and left turn signal. We'll have an additional ground to make for the plug itself. Our 12 volt power wire, which is going to be the black wire. Blue will be our brake signal or our auxiliary brakes so that our brake controller or supplemental braking system.

Then the yellow wire is for our auxiliary or sometimes our backup signal. This does come with a mounting bracket, it does not come attached, you will have to put that hardware in there. It comes with the hardware to put that onto the metal bracket. So you'll have a bolt and then a flat washer lock washer and nut. It does not come however with the hardware to mount the bracket to your RV. You want to make sure that you find a nice sturdy spot for that.

You don't want to drill directly into your hitch, that can damage the integrity of your hitch. So maybe find a long bracket or something that can attach there. That's pretty much all there is to it for a look at the adapter's 4-Way to 7-Way blade RV connector with test lamps. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. Again, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

This part installed easily and looks like to a quality part. The built in LED's allowed me to verify the installation and gave me confidence that things will be correct when I pick up the trailer.

I use it to replace an old one whose ground wire was rusted. It fits perfectly in the same place. There is no problem in installing. Please remember to attach the thick white wire to the frame of the vehicle. The thick white wire is the real ground wire. The thin white wire is not being used. The test lamps make verifying the installation very easy (because I don't have a test wiring tool).

  • Are Test Lamps on Curt Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector Always on
The test lights on the Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector w/Test Lamps # C96KR will be lit up when those circuits are hot on your 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. So if your vehicle is always pushing power out to the connector the lights should always be on, yes. Any draw by these lights will be minimal and the only time you'll need to be concerned with them drawing enough for your truck to die is if the truck isn't being used for a few weeks at a time.

  • Recommended 2 Wire to 3 Wire Converter for Trailer With LED Lights
For your 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, all trailer wiring harnesses will give you the combined wiring. This is the traditional configuration for all trailer connectors. Then to separate the wires on your trailer you will use # PP20-702 which will work well with LED lights. This will allow you to separate the turn signals from the brake light so when you put your flashers on I believe it will utilize the amber lights on your trailer. The replacement adapter you are seeking is the Adapter...

  • Are Test Lights Always on For Curt Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade With Test Lamps
That's a good question, and when installed correctly, the lights will be on when the vehicle's circuit is functioning properly for the Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector w/Test Lamps # C96KR. The test light does NOT indicate there is any issue with a trailer bulb, just that the vehicle wiring is complete and accurate. So the # C96KR does not give you a status regarding your trailer, just the vehicle.

  • Is There a 4-Way Vehicle to 7-Way Trailer Connector Adapter
What you are describing is your vehicle has a 4-way and your trailer has a 7-way so you'll simply need the following adapter: - Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector # C96KR You'll just plug your Honda's 4-way into the # C96KR and then plug the 7-way into it and you'll be set. Since you won't be using the extra functions of the 7-way you can simply tie off the wires coming off the adapter.

  • What's Needed To Add Reverse Light Function To Curt Adapter 57676 On 2021 Kia Telluride?
You've got it. You'll need to run some # 16-1-1 from the blue wire on the Curt 4-way to 7-way adapter # C96KR (57676) to the reverse light circuit on your 2021 Kia Telluride. A circuit tester like # PTW2993 will help you to find the correct wire to splice into with a quick splice # SWC501746-1.

  • Can the Ground Wire On the Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector Be Attached To a Smaller Ground
The white wire on the Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector part # C96KR is the ground and needs to be attached to a bare metal surface. The frame is best but the underside of the body will work as well. This can be done with a self-tapping screw. I recommend not extending this wire or attaching it to any other wire as the size of the wire is important and will play a role into proper operation.

  • 4-Way For 2016 Toyota Highlander w/ Factory Tow Package & 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter
Odd that your trailer has hydraulic surge brakes and a 7-way, but you do not need a trailer brake controller unless your trailer has electric brakes. So all you need for your 2016 Toyota Highlander with the factory tow package is a 4-way and then a 4-way to 7-way adapter: - T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 56042 - Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector # C96KR You'll just plug the 4-way into the 7-way, and you can just cap off...
