Three-Point Indicator System

A25 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

I received two packages and one package was damaged BUT no damage to components inside. I put the hitch together and installed it in truck everything was in boxes and there was no damage or scratches on all components. I haven't towed my rig yet BUT I did couple & uncouple it, everything seems smooth and really quiet couldn't even hear when it latched so for very impressed can't wait to tow. I give it a 4 star rating only because I haven't towed yet will be back in touch.

Update on my hitch. I am very please with this product. its been about a year since I purchase, towed my rig several times and the hitch works great. Coupling and uncoupling is very smooth. the hitch is very compact and takes a lot less room the others I have seen.I give this product a 5 star rating and Im very pleased.

by:

Hitch has worked great so far. Install took about 10 minutes in the Ford puck system. Height adjustment took about 2 hours, I started with the hitch at the top position, then moved to bottom, then moved to 2nd from the top for final. You just won't know where you want it until you hook up, tow it a mile, come back on level ground and check where you are at. Don't forget to retorque the bolts once a year, have had zero problems with hitch after a year. One thing of note, if you uneven raise/lower sometimes the hitch latch will not lock/unlock. if this happens, make sure your coach is as level as you can get it at the front. (3,500 miles towed, F450, Pinnacle 18k, tandem tow Seaark 2,400 lbs)

by:
2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed:
1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and
2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution.
This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting.

delivered with no issues. everything intact and no parts missing....thanks...

Ford Flex

Love the hitch it's rated for high strength but isn't overly big and bulky and doesn't take up a ton of room in the truck...it fits into the bed pucks easy and locks down nice and tight with no flex or loosness in the pucks or gaps to create possible vibrations or noise when towing...
Thanks Derek for hooking me after being back ordered but getting it to me ahead of schedule after letting you no I had a prescheduled trip within 2 weeks and you had to me with a week...headed out next week looking forward to see how the new truck and hitch set up works...
Thank you for all you help...

by:

It arrived on time as you said it would with no damage to the product. Assembled and installed in about a hour. Would of been quicker but had to make some adjustment on one of the pucks. Haven't hooked it to my fifth wheel yet but I upgraded for a 16k to the 24k and but the handle works very easy. I had concern if the hitch would go over my goose neck ball and it does with about a 1" clearance. Very happy with this hitch.

Service was excellent!! Packages were delivered in a timely manner! Packages were actually all intact from shipping

Absolutely perfect service and product. I would never buy from anyone else for all my trailer needs.

The chain that holds the locking pin is very weak, I had to change out to a better ring and chain. It kept falling off the ring. It’s a good hitch, my pull right seemed easier to work.

2020 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Well made hitch. Easy to assemble. Easy to install. Mine had a few scratches from shipping process, but none in the vital areas and nothing that would be seen after assembled. Customer service was excellent to deal with throughout the order process. Shipping time was acceptable even in these rough times. I would most certainly recommend this hitch, and to purchase through etrailer.com. They won't let you down.

One year in and hitch is holding up great. No issues to be noted, rock solid as you would expect. During this past year, it has become apparent that there are some additionally useful features that nobody writes about, such as the plate pulls free of the base for easy removal. I have multiple trailers and volley between fifth wheel and goose neck often, so this has been a very good design for removal and installation.

I received the hitch in 2 boxes, 1 was damaged but the contents were ok. Delivery was on time. Assembly and installation went relatively well, took about an hour. I have not had a chance to tow with it yet. Will update at that point. Unit seems to be solid and well constructed.

We have been living in our 5th wheel full time for about 6 months now and have towed it approx 5000 miles. The hitch has worked well so far, except that about 75 of the time I have to move the truck forward or back to relieve the pressure on the coupling to get it uncoupled. This is not a major issue just inconvenient.

by:

Not tall enough for a 2018 f350 4x4...also have had issues with jaws locking in very cold weather...not sure of issue, handel goes into lock position, but when trailer is pulled, it drops right out...will be getting a different set up soon. I have tried all kind of different lubes....all three times the handel was showing latched ....and I also have a issue from time to time getting it to release, I am in the towing business and I can assure you, I'm not the only one with these issues....my next one will be a B&W hands down...I know you deal with a lot of let's say different customers....but I really have nothing good to say about this hitch....other than easy mount, but with the puck system which one isnt....I had used a rease 16k for yrs without the first hiccup also....but bed rails being obsolete now and needing a bigger rating ....made me upgrade, so I thought....but yes the jaws do tend to stck...not a fan...just being honest...

by:

I did a lot of research when looking for a high quality hitch to pull my 13,000 lb fifth wheel camper. I decided on this hitch and couldn't be happier. The hitch looks great and is extremely well constructed. The hitch opens easily, and when closed, locks the camper securely to the truck. I have the puck mounting system built to my truck bed frame, and love how easy it locks into place with almost no effort. If you are looking for a well constructed, easy to use hitch, look no farther...this is your hitch! You will not be disappointed.

by:
2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I bought this hitch to replace a B&W OEM Companion Hitch. When I upgraded my truck from an F350 to a F450 my trailer was riding nose high with the B&W dropped to the lowest 16 3/4 inch setting. This Curt hitch drops down to 13 inches over the bed, allowing me to level out my trailer while still leaving 6+ inches clearance at the tailgate and passing the raised railroad crossing test.

by:

Excellent transaction. I haven't used the hitch yet but it seems like it will do the job. Very easy install.

by:

Very disappointed with this product. The product doesn’t seem to be of the quality that I expected for the price. I have not used this hitch yet, but I can almost guarantee that it will be very noisy while stopping or accelerating. Mount from the head piece to the base seems very flimsy.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. This hitch as an interlocking 2-jaw systems that provides a 360-degree jaw to king pin contact that provides less rattle and more security then the slide bar models. It also has a fully articulating torsion head for controlled coupling and a stable, quiet ride.

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

Really like this hitch. Breaking it down into two pieces makes it much easier to move in and out of the bed by myself. Works well with my '20 F350 factory 5th wheel prep. Need be be pretty accurate centering the king pin to get it to latch up. Helps to have a CHMSL camera on my truck. I use this hitch to pull a 37' Chaparral 5th wheel (10.5 K lbs. empty weight).

by:

Absolutely love this hitch! No more loud clunks and squeaks with trailer attached. Head pivots easily side to side making it a breeze hooking up, even if your truck is on an incline, or tilted at an angle. By removing the head(pull 1 pin), any normal sized human being can easily remove the hitch from the truck. The base is still a bit heavy, but nothing like my previous hitch. I would happily recommend this hitch to anyone!

by:

I have no idea how the hitch performs. I went ahead and purchased because the dealers price gouge everything. I have not purchased a 5th wheel yet, but intend to down the road, so decided I'd rather have the hitch when the time comes. It's heavy and seems to work pretty well from playing around with it.

by:

Excellent product. Easy to order, delivered as expected and performs without a hitch! (No pun intended) …
I transport RVs and horse trailers over 51,000 miles between February - December 2021. This hitch is easy to install and remove when not needed. It is a workhorse and has never failed. I have not had any issues and am fully satisfied with this hitch. I highly recommend if your in the market for a hitch Curt is the brand you can depend on.

by:

Arrived perfect and it's exactly what I needed and expected

by:

This is probably the best fifth wheel hitch I've ever used. It is very solid and has no issues when hitched. I have only two complaints: 1) you are supposed to be able to easily take this apart for removal. I have never been able to pull the pivot pin and separate it. 2) It takes some back and forth to get the lever to release. Sometimes you need to put pressure forward, sometimes backwards. I have yet to figure out the right way to do it the first time.

by:

Pros: fairly lightweight, easy to install / remove, good adjustment capability, easy to know it is hitched with the green indicator, wrap around jaws, affordable vs other brands, relatively small footprint for storage

Cons: none really, I guess if I was nitpicking, the wraparound jaws can sometime make it difficult to disengage the pin when trying to unhitch.

Photos after 1 year of use.

Looks great. Perfect fit. Easy assembly. The hitch is heavy. But that is to be expected for a 25 k hitch.

A well made solid hitch. Easy to install and remove. I use it on a regular basis to pull a 42’ toy hauler with a 2016 crew cab F-350.

  • Curt Q24 Hitch Head Seems Has Metal To Metal Contact On Passenger Side When Towing Trailer
The side to side movement of the head on Item # C16036 pivots on a pin so there is no bolt that can be tightened. I would check to see if the bushing has fallen out. There should be a loop that doesn't allow the head to over pivot and a composite bushing to cushion it so there is no metal on metal contact.

The main differences between the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16036 and Q24 # C16545-16017 for the OEM prep package in your 2022 Ford F-350 is that the A25 is compatible with a rotating pin box by using a wedge # C16992, where the Q25 cannot be used with a rotating pin box due to the unique spherical axial bearing that allows too much movement thus making it not compatible with rotating pin boxes. In addition to that the A25 uses an interlocking jaw design which is a nice improvement...
