Does Hitch Ball Height Need to be Factored When Picking Out Rise/Drop Ball Mount

Question:

Hello, I have a question about the hitch I’m looking to purchase. I have a hitch that he 17.75 inches off the ground and coupler that 18.5 inches from the ground. I’m guessing I need a raise of 3/4 but if I purchase it and install the hitch ball, wouldn’t the height be greater than 3/4? I’m guessing with the ball installed, it will be 2 3/4, given that the height of the hall is 2 inches. Also, can I get away without installing the 3/4 raise and just installing a flat hitch no /raise? Does such a thing exist? Thank you!

Expert Reply:

Our ball mount rise/drops listed factor in the height of the hitch balls so if you pick out the ball mount with the correct 3/4 inch rise that you need the ball mount height would be spot-on.

So we have the Convert-A-Ball part # AMSC2 which fits a 2 inch hitch and has the 3/4 inch rise that you need.

Oddly enough there isn't a ball mount that has a zero rise/drop.
