2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty

It was an exact fit. I'm 60 and with a couple of jack stands I had it in stalled in less than an hour. Instructions didn't mention it but I also used blue loctite on the bolts and the 7 pin/4 pin connector did not have any holes to connect it so I drilled 2 holes 1/4" into the hitch used original bolts and a nut driver to get them in place. Most people would not have that mechanical knowledge so in future there should be pre drilled holes for that. Overall good experience.

2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I replaced my 05 F350 hitch that had rusted out on the back side, the hitch arrived on time and to my surprise was even better than the one that came with the truck. Great hitch, Great price, Great service. Thanks etrailer

by:

Instal took 5 minutes with help from a friend. The hitch fit perfectly and I would assume this one will last as long as my first one- 20 years. Customer service was outstanding, they had a computer glitch the day I tried to order so called in. Martha took care of the entire order, she did a great job! Great company to work with and will do so again.

by:

Nothing wrong with the hitch but packaging was very poor from etrailer, most of the hardware was missing out of the box

2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty

MOST OF THE TIME WAS REMOVING THE OLD HITCH, THE BLUE LOCKTITE FORD USED IN 2006 WORKS REALLY WELL. I WAS WORRIED THAT THE 20 INCH SPARE WOULD NOT FIT WITH THE MASSIVE SIZE OF THE NEW HITCH, BUT IT CRANKED RIGHT BACK IN PLACE. INSTALLED IN 30 MINUTES AFTER AND HOUR GETTING OFF THE OLD HITCH.
VERY PLEASED.

by:
2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Price is perfect, shipping was fast! As others have noted, the box arrived a little beat up. But that is to be expected with a heavy chunk of steel inside a cardboard box. Contents were packaged so there is no chance of missing parts.

Installation wasn’t bad. Use a large breaker bar or a heavy duty impact wrench to remove factory bolts. 350,000+ mile F350 from the rust belt came off with some muscle. This hitch lines up perfectly utilizing the Ford factory centering nubs.

One thing to note is that this hitch will require lowering your spare tire as it has a straight square tube instead of Ford’s factory bent tube that wraps around the spare tire. See pictures.

Installation for me took a little over 1 hour due to a lost security key for the spare tire winch. Ended up deciding to cut the winch cable and replace the winch. With a heavy duty impact wrench and the ability to lower your spare tire, complete installation should take no more that a half hour.

Very happy with the hitch. Super easy install. So much better than stock. 2003 f350 Crew Cab Dually v10

by:

Box was severely damaged in transit, but the hardware kit was securely taped to the hitch itself, which is good. Not surprising for an 80 lb steel piece wrapped in cardboard. Four stars because, despite being a 'direct fit' for my truck, the hitch interfered with an existing mounting screw on the frame rails that could not be relocated, so I had to grind some clearance in the mounting flange of the hitch. While it was a relatively minor inconvenience for me, it could be a show-stopper for someone without the proper tools to make the modification. Also, this hitch does not come drilled for the OEM receptacle bracket. etrailer recommended a strap-on option in one of the question responses that allowed me to bolt my existing bracket to it, but the band clamp that came with it was not large enough to go around the massive tube on this hitch. I was able to use a stainless steel 6" diameter hose clamp from the local big box store to clamp it on... Just barely.

Half the price of the local shops, super fast shipping, and in the end, it works great!

by:

NOT packaged well, but the product itself is excellent! Installation went as expected.

by:

Very heavy hitch. Original shipment was missing some hardware, missing hardware was shipped immediately. New hitch did not have a means for mounting the trailer connection plugs. Drilled and tapped holes to mount original bracket.
Great customer service.

Hitch has been great, however the typical safety chain hooks will not work on the hitch safety loops. Larger hooks are required.

I couldn't be happier with the hitch and etrailer. I was a bit worried about putting a class V hitch on myself. I thought with the weight I sometimes tow, I really wanted it done right. Every truck I've bought before already had the hitch on it. I watched a video etrailer had that actually was on a 2006 F350 Super Duty and with that being the truck I have I was really lucky to see how easy they made it look. I was a bit concerned about the weight over my head, and thought I'd check the cost of having a shop nearby put it on, before ordering it, and they told me I couldn't even get a hitch since my truck was built as an incomplete truck to be finished with utility boxes by Monroe truck. He was also concerned about the Tommy Liftgate that was added after Monroe truck finished building it. He just didn't measure correctly, assuming my frame was wider than standard.

Anna, at etrailer assured me the one I wanted would fit, helped me with the order and got it to me in 3 days. She was right, it fits great and it was a breeze to install. I used a motorcycle jack, with a bungee cord attached to the jack, holding a ball receiver I put in, to keep it more or less straight as I lifted it into place. I think the actual time it took me, installing it by myself, was just about an hour. I highly recommend etrailer for their service from before ordering, with their informative videos, the willingness to answer all your questions, getting the item to you quickly, keeping you informed about the order's status, and then being pro-active in volunteering to help

by:
2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Installed very easy. Very stout. Poor box it was shipped in was beat up. Could have expanding foam to keep the hitch from moving and beating up box. As stated in some reviews, the stock location for the electrical connection for the trailer could not be used. I just drilled a hole in the bumper above stock location to mount the trailer plug. This will keep the plug out of the way. See picture.

This hitch receiver was a direct fit for my 2000 F250. It took about 40 minutes to complete the whole job, and I definitely recommend having a helper. Other wise the job would have taken much longer.

I was amazed at how much bigger the curt receiver hitch is compared to the factory hitch. Definitely worth the purchase.

2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

This hitch improved my trucks towing capacity by almost double. I also feel a lot safer towing down the highway in my rig.

by:

Installed on 2006 F-350 4x4 6.0 PSD. Had to drop the spare tire first, and the old stock hitch (that was rotting) came off with the help of a 3/4 drive impact. This hitch bolted right up. Easy peasy install. I had to relocate the trailer plug, but with some common sense and basic fab skills, it was not a difficult task to accomplish.
What else can you say about a trailer hitch? It works.

Ford F-250 Super Duty

***WARNING: your stock trailer light hook up will NOT work with this hitch, at least it didn't on my '00 F250 with an OEM bumper and OEM 7 pin trailer light connector bracket. Reading other questions, etrailer recommends the 18136 Bracket, HOWEVER it is too small to go around the massive center bar of this hitch. So etrailer sells a hitch that doesn't work with the factory light connector bracket, and they don't sell a bracket that will fit with this hitch. I find this pretty disappointing. I have ordered parts to rig up something on my own, but it would be nice if this was mentioned on the ad, or etrailer could figure out what parts are needed and put a link on the page. I'm out at least another week waiting on more parts to try and rig it up.

That said, the hitch is super beefy, and it fit great to the frame of my truck. I have a 285/75R16 spare tire, and the spare fit in the factory location with the hitch installed.

5 Stars for the hitch, 1 star for etrailer hanging me out to dry on the electrical hook up.

Thank you for your business and your review, Chad. It is not uncommon when installing aftermarket heavy-duty Class IV and V hitches that some customization such as relocating the trailer connector may be necessary. The primary concern of the trailer manufacturer is that it matches up with the frame.

by:
2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I know this is a Class V hitch because it is built like a tank. I wanted to replace my old hitch because the pin hole was getting elongated from wear. The install went smoothly. If you have a spare tire install, take it down. Other than that it was pretty simple to remove my old hitch and install this new one. I did use a floor jack to help with the removal and installing the new hitch. You will either need a floor jack or a buddy to help with the install, this this is heavy...70 lbs.

Thanks for a great product at a great price...Walt

After using this hitch for a year, I would still give it 5 stars. Great hitch.

by:

After placing my order, my hitch arrived before the anticipated delivery date. Installation was relatively easy. The most difficult part was removing the old hitch! I was impressed by the strength of the structure of the hitch!
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the product, the ordering process or the expediency in which I received it!!
Great job Etrailer!!!!

If you're speaking of a bumper pull trailer, it's likely that the weight of the trailer would exceed the towing capacity of the truck.
