I don’t want to deal with returning it and I think I can make it work. I would like to just ask for a partial refund.
Receiver works great. Used it to tow a 5x8 U-Haul trailer from Detroit to Denver. I really like the look too. Majority of the receiver is hidden behind the rear fascia, unlike a lot of other after market options.
I guess I got everything haven't completely stripped the box I don't see any packet of bolts but the receiver looks good.
mounted well. I do wish the carriage bolts and brackets would fit thru the existing hole. drilling the 1 inch holes was a bear. Once mounted the right side hole for the exhaust bolt was off a bit and I had to grind it a bit to allow the bolt to go in. The cut out ii made n the plastic bumper was centered but I had to take a bit more off the right side. might have been my Jeep but might want to verify your dims for Jeep Compass. The video did not mention blending forward the 2 bumper mounting brackets in order to get the hitch in above them then bending them back after it is mounted. Thin metal so no big deal the second time I got it up in there. As a convenience, it would be nice to include an extra bolt fishing wire incase you get the first nut in place and have to take it down again and have stretched out the spring end of the fish wire. Once it was all in and wired up it is real nice. You may want to evaluate that 90 minute DIY estimate for those of us without a lift and helper.
Product seems ok. Haven’t opened the box yet but had a large hole in side of box and was taped over hole. Hope all the mount hardwate is still inside. Going to be a christmas gift so will be at least a month before we open it
The Curt tow hitch was delivered and was well packaged, arrived undamaged. The finish was great and looked durable, nice thick powder coat. Looks like it will last and be rust free, and probably outlast my Jeep. It went on a 2018 Jeep Compass Sport. I could have used an extra pair of hands to install it but I managed by myself using a floor Jack and taking my time, this thing is built heavy and strong. It fit like it was from the Jeep factory. Following the videos online, I would have had questions just following the written instructions, but once I started they made sense too. Like I said I took my time and with a floor Jack it took about 3 hours. It looks good from the rear, the only thing you see under the rear fascia is the 2 inch reciever. Exactly what I was looking for as I was concerned about loosing ground clearance, it is a Jeep after all.
The wiring kit went on again like it was factory, no wire tapping or factory wire cutting. This Jeep uses a CANBUS system and is finicky with wiring changes. This works great, absolutely no issues.

Wanted to give you feedback on your trailer Hitch I just installed on my 2018 Jeep Compass. The installation went very well and took about 4 hours, although I am 77 and did the job without help. The fit was very good and instructions were excellent.
Two comments: You have to be extremely careful when removing the fisheries not to let the bolts slip back inside the frame. Also I had to replace the muffler hanger bolts with longer ones as they have to pass through the thick hitch frame. The old bolts were just short of being long enough. I did remove the complete rear exhaust section which made the installation much easier.I highly recommend this if possible.
Enclosed is a picture of how I raised the hitch using a floor jack with the hitch clamped to it.

etrailer is always my first stop for hitches, harnesses and everything in between. This hitch install took me 2.5 hours from start to finish, only because I removed the bumper trim and crash guard in order to get to the frame so I didn’t have to drill out the frame. It was worth the extra work. Installed the hitch and accessing the mounting holes was a breeze. Only had to use the fish wire for the 2 bolts that are closest to the front of the vehicle. The etrailer video was a nice starting point before diving in. Overall I’m happy with the hitch. Glad I went with this one and not the other one as this one has more ground clearance.
Definitely better looking and heavier than the original Mopar brand hitch. Fit like a glove.

It’s About 1 year later and this hitch still looks as good as new, no rust and no loss of color even though I live in the northeast where winter is harsh and the road salt destroys everything. I’ve pulled over 2,000 pounds on a single load with it and it has been flawless. I did have to remove the entire bumper while installing it rather than drilling holes like the included instructions required, but honestly it was easy to remove the bumper on my 2018 Jeep Compass and a lot less work than trying to drill holes on the heavy gauge steel chassis. I’m glad I made this purchase from etrailer and saved a ton of money compared to the mopar brand. This hitch gets 2 thumbs up from me.
Gave it a 5 star mainly because of etrailer’s service and speed of shipping. They have been very good for me on a few different orders now.
The product was not exactly a “to the millimeter” fit but was able to get it on and tight and am satisfied with the finished product. I DO NOT recommend following the instructions to grind the holes in your frame to be bigger to fit bolt heads through?? Just take the rear bumper cover off (4 screws and a handful of clips) and the rear bumper (6 large bolts which also end up being the ones you use to secure the hitch). It will give you access into the frame to drop the bolts through as needed. This also makes your wiring install easier if you’re doing that as well. So overall I found the instructions helpful (a video would have been nice from etrailer as they do a good job but haven’t produced one for this model yet) but ended up doing some of my own thing which I think made it much easier. I also think the instructions were not applicable in some parts for the trailhawk edition (skid plates made wiring difficult up front and there were bolts/threads in my frame and bumper that were not in the instructions and actually made the whole process easier) which is what I have but I was able to make it happen.

When i open the box even theres a little damage of box but the item inside is in good condition,its perfect,no scratch or damage of item even the paint is good,quite heavy,visually a heavy duty product.i will let know and send photo after install to my 2022 jeep compass.
Works Great!…I took it upon myself to wrapped the tail-end exposed light kit wires with black electrical tape right-after installing to protect them from any water damage later, the light wires also came with a rubber end cap to cover plug-in …
it’s been a year and they work perfectly.
I also like the Hitch Rubber End Cap , it’s covers the ugly hitch opening.
Ordered on Thursday around 4pm, it was outside my door Saturday morning. Less then 48 hours for free shipping to pa, I was stoked. Box was a little beat up but hitch seemed it perfect condition, no scratches in the powder coat. I got really frustrated trying to drill through the frame with a step bit, burned my electric drill out before I even got trough the first one (the bits were new, the drill was old, I've had it forver) and ended up taking the back bumper off. Once I did that it was smooth sailing all the way. All in all I'm Very happy with it.
It has been great so far but we were shorted a flanged nut for the setup and didn’t realize until my car was already taken apart. Finding the right size has been an issue
Ordering and shipping were great, but the product arrived with the paint damaged. That delayed my install for a few days while I paint the sections that were chipped and let it dry. Little disappointed because I was hoping to install it this weekend. Packaging was poor, bunch of crumpled up paper in a box, no protection from the hitch busting out of the cardboard. Will update install pics hopefully within a few days if I remember.
The product is just what I wanted. The product is great easy to install. Customer service is very helpful Tevor was great to deal with. The product was shipped very quickly. I will be getting more from etrailer.
Arrived super quick! Placed it Wednesday night, got an email one hour later saying it was shipped!! Looks great! Doesn’t stick to far out or in! Can’t wait to use it!
I brought it to East End Auto to install and they said it would not fit my car. So It is a waste of time for them and me. I would like to return.

I am not sure as to why they would says it is not a fit. We have installed the hitch here on a 2019 Jeep Compass. I will have our Customer Service team reach out.
It was an easy install. I watched the video on YouTube a few times. Take your time to do it right. Quality made. I like how it looks on my Jeep Compass. I would recommend this to anybody.
Looked up a local installer using the etrailer site, and they did a great job. The hitch looks great installed, and was much cheaper than going through the dealer.
Once again, my satisfaction with Curt products and the folks at etrailer is very high. I can always count on exceptional service (ordering, notifications, follow-ups, etc), and having access to installation videos makes all the difference. This install took me awhile because I did it by myself with the rear of the car on drive-up stands, so not much room and the hitch itself is very heavy. But the end result is exceptional. I'll be using both a bike rack and pulling a trailer. On to the wiring harness install.

Solid Build, was a little more difficult to install than I had hoped, but that is not the fault of the Hitch Receiver. Have used it now to pull a trailer and a Cargo Carrier. Just as a note, this thing rides pretty low and I would suggest a riser extension for a Cargo Carrier as I scraped mine on almost all curb exits.

Oh I sorry to see that the hitch arrived scratched. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. What I would recommend is touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum. It will protect the hitch and you will have it on hand for the future.
