Warranty Implications of Installing Trailer Hitch on 2019 Jeep Compass
Question:
Hi, I have a 2019 Jeep Compass 4x4 and was wanting to add a trailer hitch. However I had a few questions. By doing a hitch from you guys does it take away my vehicles warranty? And also how would you recommend it be installed? Should I bring it to somebody to be installed ?

The Curt # C13363 Class III receiver hitch you'd looked at is indeed a fit for your 2019 Jeep Compass.
The short and direct answer: I've looked over the 'Trailer Towing' section of your owner's manual, and found no blanket prohibitions that forbid trailer towing for your vehicle as long as your Compass is equpped with the 9 speed transmission and is a 4 WD model. As long as the stated 2000 lb towing/200 lb tongue weight capacities are observed, you'll have no negative warrantly impliations. If you just need the hitch for a hitch mounted accessory, you'll have no worries regardless of how the vehicle is equipped. Just keep the weight of the accessory and whatever is loaded upon it at 200 lbs or less. If you'll be towing, you'll most likely want to abide by what FCA states in the owner's manual.
Purchasers of aftermarket vehicle products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, which states in part that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty service, the dealer must honor your warranty claim unless they can prove that whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.
If you will be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll also want to obtain a trailer wiring harness like # C56369, a ball mount like # 2753 and for a trailer ball, # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch.
I've linked to installation details and videos that you might find helpful. You can view the videos to determine if the installation is something you'd feel tackling on your own. If not, any trusted mechanic would easily be able to handle the install pretty quickly.
