Fits perfectly and installation was easy and very well made. Did have to bend back the heat shield slightly for the 2011 kia Sorento. but that was it. Happy purchase

The fit was great and the instructions for installing were accurate and easy to follow.

by:
2012 Dodge Ram Pickup

The trailer hitch fit perfectly. The hardest part of the installation wasn't with the hitch, it was cleaning the 12 years of dirt and rust from the holes in the frame. This is the second hitch I have ordered from etrailer, one for a Ram 1500 and this one for a Sante Fe. If I need one for my next vehicle I will definitely get it from etrailer. Thank you.

by:

Installation was not so easy. Cutting the heat shield was no big deal. My main problem was that the hitch receiver hit the bumper. I had to cut a 3/8" notch out of the bumper so that the hitch could clear. Note from my picture that the notch is not centered - make sure you completely bolt up the hitch before cutting - I used a Dremel and file. Its not critical that its a clean cut - you really don't see it. Also, the spare hits the hitch if it were in its normal position. Probably no big deal, but the spare position is shifted with the hitch installed. Due to having to cut the bumper, I have to rate the install as difficult. If it weren't for that, it would have been a 40 minute job - it took me over 2 hours. The hitch does look good once installed though.

I installed this by myself. I would recommend having someone to help get it in over the muffler that was a challenge to do alone. Everything fit like it should once I got it over the muffler. The wiring harness fit perfectly. I am very pleased with the hitch and wiring.

I have used this constantly without a problem.

by:

Very easy installation on my 2011 Santa Fe. The instructions were very clear and videos very helpful. I have used the hitch a number of times the past year to pull my utility trailer and heavy rental equipment, such as large chippers and trenchers. My Santa Fe came pre-wired for trailer lighting and the etrailer lighting package installed easily and has worked without problems on all the trailers I have pulled.

by:
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Received the hitch in less than week, incredibly fast. Super price.

The videos were easy to understand, it was an easy install (except for the problem I'll describe below that was not any fault of etrailer or Curt). Hitch is exactly as advertised, works great (how could it not?)!

The wiring kit for the lights was literally.... "a snap".

I installed this hitch on a 2 year old 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. I live in the Northeast and we just had a lot of snow which means tons of salt on the road. To install this hitch, there are two bolts which transverse the frame rail, I had no problem with these. There are also 4 bolts that screw directly into threaded mounting points (two on each side). This is where I had the problem.

The prethreaded mounting holes in the frame had rusted over. As I spent too long trying to get the bolts to thread, I was cursing etrailer for sending the wrong hardware. Then it finally dawned on me it might be a rust problem. I took an "AR15 chamber brush" (gun cleaning wire brush, pictured), sprayed it with rust cutter, and chased the holes. After that, the bolts threaded (still a bit difficult) and I was able to finish the install.

My advice is to have this type of brush handy if your mounting points might be rusty, and test fit all the hardware without the hitch in place before you start. This is ESPECIALLY true if your vehicle is not brand new.

If you are considering installing a hitch on a new vehicle, but you put it off, it would be wise to install temporary bolts in the mounting points or art least grease them heavily.

I ordered this hitch on May 07, 14 at 12:48pm CDT this is when my confirmation came in a email. At 3:14pm I get a email from George that my order was pending should ship in 24 to 48 hours. At 11:42pm that night I get a email from Christopher that order was shipped!!!!! WOW all in one day. I told my wife that it should be here Monday the 12th. [since I was suppose to have already ordered it]. Friday about 2:30pm UPS backs in my driveway with the hitch on his truck.. I watched the video online of the installation and 1hour 15min later it was on the car by myself. The guy at the local U-Haul store wanted $329.95 to install this same hitch on my car. You Guys ROCK & made me look good to.
Thank You for the best customer service I've had in a long time. I though companies no longer knew how to give good customer service anymore.
Thank you

2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

2012 Santa Fe Limited, the Curt Trailer hitch C13073 is a perfect fit. Simply and very easy! 35 minute install. No cutting, no trimming. Simply follow the directions. Unlike the "Hidden Hitch" or Draw Tite the Curt hitch is very nicely tucked away giving it that professional clean look. Unlike the others it also has 6 attachment points (Bolts) that I felt made it much more secure. Very well thought out design, even if it "slightly" interferes with the space-saver spare. Simply nose the spare up over the hitch as you crank it up and it pops into place. As for the wiring it was very easy. Rather than pulling apart all the interior paneling as the video shows, I simply fished a coat hanger up through the grommet under the car up to the access panel and simply pulled it down and that was it....done! Either way, the etrailer website is the most informational website I've ever seen.

Saturn Relay

Curt trailer hitch arrived as scheduled. Installation without raising the vehicle was a challenge. Definitely had to release the muffler. Did not have to trim the bumper plastic--there is sufficient flexibility of the plastic to allow placement of the trailer hitch and not overly distort the bumper contour. Did not possess die tap to clear out the vehicle threaded holes, but small metal brushes finally did the job. Make certain that all vehicle holes will accept their appropriate bolt or screw before placing the trailer hitch, otherwise it can be difficult to then access the vehicle threaded hole for cleaning. Alignment of the trailer hitch attachment holes was just a little off-center. As one reviewer suggested, place the bolts and screws to attach the trailer hitch to vehicle, but don't tighten to specification until all have been placed.

After 1 year, trailer hitch still looks great and functions well. Connecting the trailer electrical wiring did impact the turn signal switch relay with an audible clicking sound when operating the vehicle, but vehicle dealer corrected that by just unplugging and replugging the trailer wiring connectors.

Hitch is still working well. No issues with electrical wiring. I do keep the rubber cover over the electrical connector while not in use.

2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

We have a ‘12 model Santa Fe. It fit and looked great, just as advertised. We had a similar issue as I saw some of you had though with the bolts not threading into the base of the frame. At first I thought we were sent the wrong size, even went to the hardware store to pick up a couple other sizes, but it turned out the treads were just dirty and rusted from 10 years on the road. Bought a couple 1/2” pipe cleaners, cut the handles off to put them in a drill, and with some wd40 it cleaned it out pretty good. Was able to get everything to fit. The mount will push up into the bumper a little though, I see why some of you cut it out. That wasn’t necessary for us, and we were able to get it mounted with no issues. An extra pair of hands goes a long way in helping with install. Trimming the heat guard was easy enough also. Left the tacking screw off right there bc it was in the way of the mount.

2013 Kia Sorento

Installed on a 2013 Kia Sorento. After I dropped the spare tire out of the way everything was mush easier. Bolted on good, did not have to do any cutting of the plastic trim on the bumper. Pretty awkward doing it by yourself. Clean out the mounting holes!!! I did not even attempt to install before I cleaned out the holes and a lot of dirt came out.
Overall looks good and very happy with the hitch.

2011 Kia Sorento

Perfect fir for my 2011 Kia Sorento. Used it for the first time on a 600 mile trip just last week. Only used it for a bike rack on this trip. This is a very sturdy and substantial hitch. Instructions were exact and very easy to follow. Make sure you get the rust out of the mounting holes as described to ease the installation. Very pleased with this product.

The hitch is still performing great and the service from your company has been outstanding. Its hard to believe its already been a year! Thanks for the follow up.

by:

I shopped for three days, locally and on the internet. Best quality and price available. Delivered quickly. It was moderately challenging to install alone but not impossible. Align the passenger side as close as possible. Prop the drivers side up with a milk crate. Hardest part was probably removing the three exhaust grommets. One can cut the aluminum shield with kitchen scissors.
Looks good, should easily support 32 pounds in bikes and the carrier....

2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Delivery was on time and no damages.
Install on a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe was as described in the video and went pretty well. I did it without assistance and the comment made by many that "second set of hands would have helped" is an understatement! The worst parts of install were noted by many as well. Clean out the threads with a wire brush. I used a .22 cal gun cleaning brush and a can of WD40 and did a passable job. A better wire brush would have been great. Also be prepared to reach pretty hard for the bolts on the exhaust side as there is little clearance and tough to reach them. All in all not a bad time. Took me three hours-with a friend it would have taken one. That's not an exaggeration.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
If your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe doesn't have a dual exhaust I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75684. It has a 2 inch hitch receiver which means you can utilize more accessories than if you had a 1-1/4 inch receiver. This has a Tongue Weight (TW) weight capacity of 350 lbs and a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 3,500 lbs. If you use Weight distribution with it then those capacities are bumped up to 500 lbs TW and 5,000 lbs GTW. If your Santa Fe does have...

The third attachment point for Curt trailer hitch # C13073 for your 2013 Kia Sorento SX might help to keep the hitch from rotating but it is more there out of necessity due to the L-shaped frame brackets. That design is no more or less beneficial than trailer hitch # 75684 with its 4 total attachment points.
