Perfect for light-duty towing, this custom, vehicle trailer hitch receiver features fully welded, gloss powder coated steel construction. Drawbar sold separately.Not sure why but it’s Not 12” from top of hitch to ground like mentioned on install video (see pic). Also from center of hole to edge of bumper is about 5” (see pic).
So either my hitch is built different or my 2015 Jetta tdi with 8k miles has bad springs/shocks or the car used on the install video has taller springs/shocks. And my hitch appears to have the exact same distance between it and the plastic diffuser as the car on the video.
Everything else is good and install was no big deal.

Installation was straight forward. I also got the light hookup harness. The trailer light kit wanted its own 12v power and ground. I opted to power it from the 12v outlet in the back seat area so I didn't have to run to the battery.
Very easy to do with only one person. Watched the video on both the hitch and wire installations and then went to work. Less then 2 hours all was done and worked perfect and looks even better. My complements to a well organized company who has the perfect teams
It was a little harder to put in and what you said, but all in all it went very well good product
I installed this on a 2012 Jetta TDI. First off I think it is a great design as one does not have to make a cutout of the bumper and the hitch is a high as it can be to allow good ground clearance. Depending on your car model year it can require an adjustment. I measured 8.5" to bottom of receiver. It is not hard to install just a tight fit trying to get it up inside the bumper, have to remove the 3 screws that hold the bumper tabs and the exhaust T25 fastener. The problem I had was that there was a fitment issue with the 4 frame bolts. Once I got it tucked up where it should go I could not get a couple of M8 flange bolts started. So I had to pull it out and use my 4 1/2" grinder to take off approximately 1/8" of material from the top of the frame flanges, then I could start all 4 bolts. I did have to trim the center tab some for clearance. Primed and painted the areas and added some rust prevention to mounting spots. The hardware is good quality, the instructions are top notch. Since I heard that this fits other year models I felt comfortable trying it since I am capable in handling issues as they arise. Overall, I would recommend the hitch.

It has been a year since I reviewed this and as expected there has no problems, I use it for light duty like bike rack and small trailer.
Great product. Installed on a 2013 VW Jetta TDI. I use it for my trailer mounted bike carrier. Had no issues with installation.

Been using it for a year now. Hitch mounted bike carrier... I love it. No issues.
Hitch literally took me 16 minutes to install. We timed it after doing a hitch on my Cmax immediately before the Jetta, so we already had all the tools out, but it couldn't be much easier. The hitch is holding up well. My girlfriend often bumps into curbs and things with it and it's still straight and solid. We use it exclusively for mounting a 2 place bike rack and it works well.
Did not think I would be able to get this hitch and the wiring harness because it was for a recalled Volkswagen tdi. But etrailer contacted the manufacturer and was able to have it built. Did not have to wait long eather to get it. The hitch is built very well and was a perfect fit. The wiring harness was also top quality. Now I can haul my atv to my riding spots. Will buy from etrailer and curt the next hitch I need. Thanks etrailer

If you find that your bike rack does ride too close to the ground, one solution is to use a hitch adapter with a rise, such as # HT5R. This adapter will provide the bike rack with a 5 inch rise from the receivers current position. Keep in mind that using a hitch adapter such as this will reduce your hitchs weight capacity by 50 percent and is not intended for use when towing.
Installed the product by myself in about 90 minutes on my 2015 VW Jetta. The videos on Youtube were very helpful.

According to the RV trailer business I used to install the hitch on my car, the hitch was easy to install. I have not towed anything with it yet.

Purchased this for my 15 Tdi Jetta. Installation was a breeze. Don’t have to have a ton of mechanical knowledge to do this project even though I am inclined.
You’ll want some petro lube for the exhaust hanger and go ahead and cut off the plastic center mounting tab for the rear bumper. Other than that, it was super easy by myself.
Great quality. Sturdy construction and solid feel. Installed easily with included instructional video and took me less than an hour. Used to haul a trailer at 1500lbs and performed just as expected/intended
The hitch was a perfect fit. The instructional video was an excellent tool and it was right on point in every step.
Haven’t opened it yet, extremely hectic but l will get back to you once l get a chance to install it.

The difference in distance between the hitch and the ground may vary depending on what size tires are on the vehicle.
