n/an/a

Create a stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

Unique Features of Blue Ox SwayPro

Blue Ox SwayPro Rotating Latch Brackets

Other weight distribution systems have lift brackets that require you to apply a good amount of leverage to get them to snap up, which can be difficult and frustrating. With the SwayPro, all you have to do is insert the lift chain into the bracket slot and rotate the bracket with the included wrench until the lock pin engages.

Another feature of the SwayPro is the easy-to-use head. The required pitch is already built into the head, so the only adjustment that may be needed is the placement of the head on the shank. Move the head up or down along the weight distribution shank to achieve the proper height. No additional, fine-tune adjustment is needed, which means no hard-to-access washers or difficult-to-use thumbscrew.

Built-In Tension Stops Sway

Blue Ox SwayPro System with Built-In Sway Control Hooked Up

The SwayPro offers four points of built-in sway control. Within the head assembly, the trunnions are designed to hold the spring bars securely in position, placing just enough tension on them to cause them to constantly force your trailer in line. At the other end of this weight distribution system, the rotating brackets ensure that the lift chains are pulled as taut as possible. In addition, the basic design of the brackets keeps much of the length of the lift chains wrapped up inside of the brackets. Typically, only a couple of links hang down from each bracket. So each chain is held more stable than in traditional weight distribution systems, where more than twice as many links are exposed. This tight, stable design limits the movement of the spring bars so that they can exert more force on your trailer to effectively keep it from shifting side to side. Furthermore, unlike many friction-style sway controls, the SwayPro allows you to back up your trailer without having to remove or disengage the system.

Bought a 30’ enclosed race car trailer with 1.5’ extra height and pulled it back from Dallas, Tx. with my 3500 DuraMax with no weight distribution hitch! It was not a pleasant drive. I weighted the tongue when I got home and came in at 1650# empty. Got this hitch, BX2000, loaded trailer with car, tools, fuel, generator, and did not re-weight tongue but estimate to be at least 2k. Pulls completely different! Sway is almost nothing. My old trailer was a 50’ goose neck which pulled better but was much heavier and harder for the truck to pull. This hitch will make the difference in a heavy tongue weight bumper pull trailer

Bought a 30’long 7.5’ inside height, bumper pull race car trailer in Dallas. Driving 8hours back home with my dually and no weight distribution hitch, trailer empty, sway was terrible. Weighted tounge and was 1700# empty! Ordered the Blue Ox Hitch with 2k bars and problem solved

by:

This Blue Ox sway control hitch has works well on our trailer. It's heavy, but easy to hook up and use.

My only complaint is with the external finish. The finish on the bars began to flake off almost immediately. Other areas are also showing signs of surface rust.

That said, it does the job it's intended to do, with ease

by:

I’ve been impressed with customer service. Answer every question quick response. Biggest reason I buy from etrailer the staff rock!

by:

Used on a variety. Large and small..light and heavy...glad I had it to haul little house's.

by:

The hitch works as designed and for that I would give 5 stars, however the manufacturer claims their hitch is powder coated? Must be some really bad powder coating since the finish flakes off easily much like regular enamel paint. Everything I have ever had powder coated was a hell of a lot more durable than what's applied to this hitch assembly. If you don't mind the powder coating (paint) flaking off and rusting then it will be a non-issue for you.

I recommend touching up the WD system with a rust resistant paint. Over time the system will experience nicks and scratches from road debris and having the paint on hand will be beneficial.

Great product but showed up missing parts and I had to spend $136 to express ship the replacement so that I could make the trip we were set to go on. Not happy that I had to spend so much money to get a part that was missing from the box due to no fault of my own….

Oh wow, I am so sorry that this arrived missing parts. I have sent a note over to our customer service department to see what we can do as some sort of compensation.

by:

The product is well built, easy to install and tows great. The downside is the chains. Before upgrading to a new trailer, I got rid of the standard chain style weight distribution bars and went to the square bar style. After getting a new trailer, my 14k bar style wasn't rated for the tongue weight and I had to upgrade to this. The new trailer is only 14k loaded but has a 2k pound tongue weight. This is the only hitch on the market that would carry the tongue weight and I am back to chains. They are difficult to deal with and if you dont have the tongue jack taking most of the pressure off of them, the wrench to release the chains can get away from you. If somebody make a chain less unit, I would get away from this.

Great product, absolutely no issues with it. However, the chains still stink and wish they had a better alternative for this heavy hitch.

by:

Was getting yanked around a lot in my F350 towing my 28 ft toy hauler. I purchased the blue ox sway bars and what a difference. The truck no longer squats about 3 inches. It is now level and pulls the trailer very nicely without the previous jerking and jerking. It's a great product that goes on easily and I would highly recommend it.

by:

Looks great , haven't installed it yet but I'm sure it will serve the needs for us. BTW, GREAT service from retailer...

by:

The hitch was delivered today. Everything arrived in good condition and I was pleasantly surprised that the hitch has a 2 1/2" shank.
The hitch seems to be very well made. The welds are nice and the finish (powder coat?) looks great.
I'm looking forward to getting this mounted and taking the trailer out for a trip.

The hitch works very well. Im not a fan of the wrench Blue Ox supplies to rotate the cams. I had a situation where the pin didnt lock the cam in place due to dirtsnow/ice but didnt notice. When I relaxed the tension on the cam, it rotated back down and smacked my had against the frame rail. I now use a 15 breaker bar with a 3 extension to give my hand some clearance- just in case it happens again!

by:

Works fantastic!

This WDH is excellent! Heavy Duty, high quality, and handles my RV (35ft, 10,000 lb Jayco) with no problem. Gives me more capacity than I need and makes the ride great! Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 20,000 lbs GTW, 2,000 lbs TW - BXW2000!

Awesome Control. Robust Product and great customer service.

by:

This weight distributing hitch was easy to assemble and install. Pulling my travel trailer down the road with this hitch is smooth with very little sway, if any at all. I am very happy with my purchase.

by:

In the box are two 12 SWL 3300lbs quick link shackles. Not shown in parts or instructions. Do these have a purpose?
Also the 12mm threads on the clamp-on rotating latches for the tightening bolts were painted, thus the bolts would not screw into the clamp. I had to use a tap to clean out the threads.
Other than the above the unit seem to be good and heavy duty.

Robert

1/19/2020

It does the job but is very heavy due to the hitch being the largest they make. You need to be careful attaching and detaching the spring arms. I found the best way is to raise the trailer as high as possible when attached to the truck hitch. This relieves the tension enough to make install and removal of spring arms easier. The install video showed 3 exposed chain links when attaching spring arms. I have found 4 is better.

by:

I installed the hitch but have yet to have my travel trailer out on the road yet, to test it, hopefully it will be sometime this summer, the installation was no problem.

Brian

The hitch works fantastic easy to hook up and no sway, and it is quiet.

by:

Great customer service! Package was damaged en route and the immediately sent a new one the very next day. I.highly doubt the item itself was damaged however the packaging was and the delivery company automatically returned the package

by:

Love the way it handles and prevents sway. But its pretty darn hard to hook up and unhook if you have any kind of angle between truck and trailer.

by:

I have had the Blue Ox 2,000 lbs WD hitch for a little over 1 year. My previous WD hitch was under capacity based on the tongue weight of my 37 ft travel trailer. This hitch has greatly improved the pulling stability of my trailer over the previous set-up. It has exceeded my expectations.

by:

This hitch corrected my towing issues perfectly. I was ready to buy a new truck but as the tech advisor said, that won't correct your problem. He, Wayne, explained the problem was the hitch. He recommended the BXW2000 or BXW1500. I opted to purchase the BXW2000, overkill, but it works great. I've been on three trips with my 37' rv trailer with no issues. Also, I could have found the hitch cheaper elsewhere but the customer service at etrailer is excellent which is priceless. Thank you to Kaylyn R for all of your assistance and follow-up. Any future towing needs will definitely be through etrailer.

by:

Was the easiest install of all weight distribution hitch that I have ever installed. Very heavy construction and less movement in the receivers than others that I have tried. Hands down this will be the last hitch I will buy.

by:

Katie was so nice you could not ask for a better sale person then her. She got me the right trailer hitch for my 2017 GMC 2500 HD pickup. Telling me about how to get weight the tongue weight on my hitch of my pickup. Katie D. sent me the paper works to do all of that.

by:

Love Blue Ox products. We have to their heavy duty tow vehicle tow bar as well. Simple installation and use. Works like a charm on the road with no popping or orher noises when turning. Didn’t notice any sway on the way home towing a 10,000 lb toyhauler. Love it so far.

by:

Very happy with our Blue Ox. This is a high quality high that is doing its job! We use an F250 to pull a 9k lb travel trailer that has 1500 lb tongue weight. The job gets done! Thanks for the great customer service etrailer!

by:

The Blue Ox Weight Distribution hitch is a great product. It makes towing of large trailers much easier and substantially reduces sway.

by:

Huge improvement over the Equalizer I was using. More opportunity to get lubricant on yourself, but that’s a fair trade off. Just make sure to get a long bar to crank the chains over the frame cams.

  • Pole Tongue Adapter and Blue Ox Weight Distribution that Can Be Used B and B Deck Over Trailer
The Blue Ox Pole Tongue Adapter part # BXW4023 does fit your frame dimensions and capacity so it would work well with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW2000 which has a 20k capacity like you are wanting. The clamps would then go over the top of the pole tongue adapter and clamp to them. Then for a cushioned weight distribution shank you'd want the part # 325-GH-1302 for if you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch.
