When choosing a Weight Distribution (WD) system you will want to find one with a Tongue Weight (TW) range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find the TTW of your towing setup you will need to add the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer.

Since you are already are estimating your TW to be 1,700 lbs you are definitely on the right track. Since your TW can vary though, I definitely recommend loading your trailer up and then adding the weight of whatever you are going to be putting in the bed of your truck to the equation.

As long as your TTW falls between the range of 1,500 lbs - 2,000 lbs I recommend going with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW2000. This is a clamp on application that as an integrated sway control to help fight any sway that you might experience from crosswinds or wind from passing vehicles.

It comes with a shank that fits a 2-1/2" trailer hitch so the only other thing that you will need is a hitch ball like the Draw-Tite # 63840 which is a 2-5/16" hitch ball rated for 20,000 lbs towing.

Another great thing to keep in mind about the Blue Ox SwayPro systems is that the WD head is compatible with any of the SwayPro arms. If you were to purchase a lighter trailer down the road you can just swap out the arms to fit your application.

The problem with using the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest # TLWD1000 with Shank # TLM9010 in the Gen-Y Mega Adjustable Receiver # 325-GH-1624 is that the SuperHitch Everest WD system was not designed for the Gen-Y. I spoke with my contact at TorkLift who said that since they have not tested and confirmed these two systems together there is no telling how each would react if the WD system were to start twisting. Instead you will want to use the TorkLift SuperHitch in one of the SuperHitch trailer hitches that will install on your 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 as it was intended to be used. If you have a 6-1/2 foot bed you will want part # TLC1212-30 but if you have an 8 foot bed you will want part # TLC1211-30 instead which are both rated for up to 3,000 lbs TW when used with the SuperHitch Everest WD system and 2-5/16" hitch ball # C40085. Since this is how the Everest was designed to be used you will need to uninstall your current trailer hitch and replace it with one of these options to safely use the WD system with the larger TW. You will also want to be sure to check the weight capacities of your Silverado and make sure none of them are being exceeded.
