Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for Outdoors RV Trail Series MTN TRX 27TRX

Question:

I am looking at a trailer outdoor 27trx that has a dry tongue weight of 1435lbs. Will this work on it?

The ProPride 3P Weight Distribution Hitch w/ Sway Control # PR47QR works for a tongue weight of 850-1,400 lbs. Unfortunately you would already be over this tongue weight capacity before you even loaded the trailer. When it comes to choosing a weight distribution system tongue weight is going to be the most important factor.

It is safe to assume that you will be quite a bit over 1,435 lbs once the trailer is loaded. From what I have found and assuming this is the newest model, the GVWR is 13,995 lbs. Since tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded weight of the trailer your tongue weight may go up to 2,100 lbs. You will want to measure your loaded tongue weight with a scale like the # e99044 before choosing a weight distribution system.

Ideally you want your tongue weight to fall in the middle of the tongue weight range for the WDH. If your tongue weight stays under 2,000 lbs you would be able to use the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 20,000 lbs GTW, 2,000 lbs TW # BXW2000. This WDH has a tongue weight capacity of 1,500-2,000 lbs.

If you're over 2,000 lbs the only option is the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution System - 30,000 lbs GTW, 3,000 lbs TW # TLWD1000 along with the shank # TLM9010. This would also require adding a TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver like the # TL74FR. The correct hitch would depend on your vehicle.

I have attached some review videos along with some helpful articles on weight distribution and tongue weight for your reference.
