How to Choose the Correct Weight Distribution System for a Jayco 33RLDS
Question:
I have Jayco 33RLDS that loaded weights 12-14k lbs., and has a Tongue weight of 1,500 lbs. Having Class V Receiver hitch put on lifted GMC 2500HD, but need a Weight Dist Hitch. I see the Blue Ox BXW1500, that says 15K lbs., 1,500 Tongue Capacity, but what I see as an item doesnt look half as beefyinch as my current WDH. The one I have says 10k lbs on the head and on the arms but looks twice as Heavy Duty as Item BXW1500. What am I missing? Will the BXW1500 handle my Trailer? In the video, the guy says the Blue Ox Arms are rated to 2,000 lbs.… ? Trailer weight? Am I misreading my existing WDH where it says 10,000 lbs.?

In order to choose the correct weight distribution system, you will need to find the total tongue weight (TTW) of your towing setup by adding the tongue weight (TW) of both your loaded ready to tow trailer and any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
An easy way to find this would involve using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044. When choosing a weight distribution system, you will want your TTW to fall in the middle of the weight distributions weight capacity. For example, the ideal weight distribution system for a total tongue weight of 600 lbs. is one that is rated for 400-800 lbs. of tongue weight.
The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution part # BXW1500 is rated for a TTW between 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs. If the TTW of just your trailer is 1,500 lbs then this system would not be ideal for you. Instead, I recommend using Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution part # BXW2000 which is rated for a TTW between 1,500 - 2,000 lbs. The spring bars on either of the above systems is what gives it its weight capacity. I do not know which system you currently have to compare the two but I can assure you that the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution is a lot more stout in person in comparison to the photos/videos you are seeing online.
The 2,000 lb weight capacity listed in the video is tongue weight, not gross trailer weight. The capacity of your current system should be stamped into the spring bars.
