Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Unbelievable service and quality, and hey these wheels are made in the U.S.A., that's hard to find now days. I ordered 4-16"x 6" 8 lug wheels at 4:20 pm on Tuesday and received them 11:00 am Wednesday morning. I am very satisfied to say the least. Thanks Steve S.

Trailer wheels still look like new. Very pleased with the product quality. Folks at etrailer always friendly and ready to help every time I`ve called to order parts. Delivery on time as promised.

by:

Needed an additional wheel for a spare as we have had three flats at one time and I didn’t have two at the time. This fits perfect on the trailer. I have not used it on the trailer going down the road so I will update my rating accordingly but if needed.

by:

Exact match to my other trailer wheels.

by:

Rim is perfect for an extra spare on the car hauler.

by:

Rim matched trailer,PJ,
good buy.

by:

Quality control seems to be lacking. Dinged up and abit out of round. Should send them back.

Oh my goodness! We can ship out replacements to you. Please keep an eye out on your email. We will reach out.

by:

It's difficult to rate tire rims because they're metal and one expects them to hold up. I bought mine for a livestock trailer because one of my rims was either lost or stolen. It matched up well with my other rims and has held up just as was expected

by:

The wheels are great. We used them to replace the corroded OEM units.
We have put many thousands of trouble free miles on the trailer with the AM 20750 wheels during the past year. Domestically manufactured by Dexstar to very high standards, they are an excellent product. As always, etrailer is top on value, service and price.

by:

Items arrived on time and in good condition. Was well packed.

by:

Fast and exactly as advertised

by:

Exactly what I was looking for, Etrailer processed and shipped my immediately. Received it in 3days

by:

Overall the B&W Companion seems to be a nice unit, but disappointing that it arrived a little beatup with chips and a nice scratch. It arrived before the truck did so the unboxing waited a couple weeks. Guess I should have unboxed right away instead of waiting until I needed to install it.

The install was fairly easy and uneventful since lifting it into the bed may have been the hardest part. It look about an hour including tie to track down various tools and supplies. With the OEM pucks in our new Ram 3500 it didn't take many tools to complete the install and since the camper isn't here I'll probably get to use some of the tools again when I find out the middle height isn't quite right for the trailer, but at least adjusting the height and position is pretty straight-forward. It's heavy enough (probably good since it will pull some weight) and takes up enough space that it may not get removed very often unless a 2nd strong back is available regualrly. Depending on how often we use the camper, maybe the hitch will only come out in the winter and go back in come spring.

We'll need to add a lock or two so the hitch doesn't wander off since it's so easy to remove that a couple strong backs could easily make off with it.

My husband really likes the new wheels. He said it made his old Dodge truck look great!

Amy’s customer service was Great! I love etrailer! Thank you for the help.

by:

I needed a trailer rim that I couldn’t find without buying a tire with it . Etrailer was the 1st to come up online . I ordered 2 rims (1 for a spare ) and saved probably 400$. And as a bonus they arrived 2 days early.Buying online seems to be the way of the future. I will save this one to my favorites for future purchases. No issues, on time delivery and good customer service.

by:

Got a set for a trailer we built and they are great. Accepted the tires we got from etrailer and no complaints here. Definitely recommend etrailer to anyone in the market

by:

I am very pleased with my purchase and delivery . I put the wheels to good use immediately, and they performed as expected.

by:

Great product, great price

by:

Packed securely and shipped quickly, wheels are as described.

It has been great

by:

Wheels came very badly packaged. The powder coating was chipped on all 4 wheels I bought. There was a mistake on my part ordering as I ended up ordering twice in a half hour because the order didn’t look like it went through. I was charged for 8 wheels even though they only shipped 6. They tried their best to fix the problems. I had to spray paint all the wheels I kept. Shouldn’t have to paint brand new wheels because of their cheap packaging. Very, very disappointing on how the wheels arrived. One of the lug hole had to be filed and repainted on each wheel because of the way the rims were hung during the powder coating process. I was expecting a much better experience then what I got

by: 07/22/2023

Easy to order, reasonable price, fast and free shipping!

by:

Appears to be a very good quality product. it got here in two days which was a great help in getting my trailer back in operation.

  • What Rims Do I Need for My 16 x 6 Spare Trailer Tire?
Without know exactly what lug pattern you have on your tires, I recommend the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 # AM20750 for your Featherlite's spare tire. This rim fits your 16 x 6 tire. Since the wheel comes with a 4.9" pilot diameter, you are able to use a cap like the Lionshead Trailer Wheel Center Cap w/ Snap-In Plug - 4.88" to 4.9" Pilot # LHCS109-SI60C. It is important to note that this rim fits a bolt pattern of the most common 8 on 6-1/2 measurement....

  • Recommendation for 16 Inch X 6 Inch White Steel Wheel with 8 on 6-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern
We do have a nice selection of 16 inch x 6 inch white steel wheels available that feature the 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern you are needing. I recommend specifically looking at the Dexstar Steel 8-Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20750. This 16 inch x 6 inch wheel features a sleek 8-spoke design and a white powder coat finish on both sides of the wheel. Its 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern will match right up to your hubs and is made right here in the USA. I have attached a couple short video demonstrations...

I am sorry but we do not carry an equivalent to the Dexstar 17-163-7. We only carry one 16-1/2" wheel # AM20720DX but this is a 6 lug wheel. We do have the 16" equivalent Dexstar wheel # AM20750 but unfortunately nothing in 16-1/2".

  • Recommended 16" 8 Bolt Trailer Wheel
In regards to a 16" trailer wheel, 8 on 6-1/2" is the most common pattern. The pattern is measured from the center of one bolt hole to the center of its opposite. If this is what you have then we have plenty of options. The best one for you really comes down to style, the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel part # AM20750 is as standard as they come and a great option for most trailers. It has a 0 offset. I have attached a full list of our 16" wheels below if the above style does not match...

  • How to Determine Difference Between Hub Face and Spring Center on Trailer
We do not recommend using automobile tires/wheels on a trailer. Trailer tires are built special with a thicker sidewall that can accommodate higher air pressure and the weight of the trailer load compared to passenger vehicle tires. Trailer tires and auto wheels are not compatible. If you can provide the size of the current special trailer tires, and the diameter and width of your current wheels, I would be happy to recommend a tire/wheel combination for you. Your current 8.75-16.5 tires have an overall diameter of 30.5" and an overall width of 8.75". The closest trailer tire size available to that is 235/80-16 which has an overall diameter of 30.9" and an overall width of about 9.25". So height-wise the tires will be very similar and even though the width is an extra 0.5" it's important to note that as far as clearance goes you're only adding 0.25". For a 235/80-16 trailer tire I highly recommend the Taskmaster Provider trailer tire # TTWTRTM2358016E...

The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20750 that you referenced can fit on hubs with either 1/2-inch diameter or 9/16-inch diameter wheel studs. You will need to determine what size studs are on your hubs in order to choose lug nuts with the correct diameter and thread pitch. • How to Determine if a Tire is Compatible With a Rim
The tire needs to fit the diameter and width of the rim, which for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20750 is 16" diameter and 6" wide. For a ST235/80R16 tire that will fit a 16" x 6" wheel a great option is the Castle Rock Radial Tire # LHCK401; this is a load range E tire with a maximum capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi.

  • Is There a 16" Trailer Wheel with 5 Lug Bolt Pattern?
Nope. For what a 16" trailer wheel and tire would be rated for, 5 lugs would not provide enough support so you'll need to convert to 6-lug hubs and new 16" wheels/tires, or you can stick with your existing 5-lug 15 wheels and tires assuming they're in good shape and rated high enough for your trailer's load. If you can let me know what size axle you have I can recommend new hubs for converting the lug pattern if that's the route you decide on.

Most trailer wheels have a zero offset. This is because a zero offset allows the wheel to handle the maximum load by distributing the the load equally to both sides of the wheel. To determine if your trailer wheels have an offset, you will want to remove a wheel from your trailer and measure from the mounting surface of the wheel, where the wheel mounts to the hub, and measure to the inside bead and to the outside bead. The difference will give you the offset. If you are unable to determine...
