Using a Bottle Jack

Begin using the bottle jack by placing it on solid, level ground in a vertical position under the vehicle or object you wish to lift. Determine the best lifting point to support the jack and line up the piston ram underneath it. Once everything is lined up correctly, turn the lever switch at the base of the piston clockwise to allow you to move the piston up and down. After you have the vehicle or object lifted to the desired height the jack will automatically lock into place. To unlock the jack, simply turn the lever at the base of the piston counterclockwise and the hydraulics will slowly move in a downward motion.

Bottle jack doing what bottle jacks do. Used a handful of times over the last year, worked well.

by:

The jack appears to be a quality item. I just received it today and I haven't had an opportunity to use it. etrailer.com got it shipped and I received it in two days, which I appreciate very much. I hope I don't have to use the jack often, but it fits my needs.

The product works great. Its perfect for the task I had in mind.

by:

After owning this hydraulic jack for a year I've been very happy with the purchase. I've used it several times, both for emergencies as well as regular maintenance.

The jack has held together well and has been up to every task I've put it up to.

I've used this jack to change tires on my boat trailer. My boat weighs about 3 - 4 ton, so this is no easy task.

by:

Used it to install the axle flip kit I purchased at the same time. Worked as expected. Would and am thinking of purchasing another.

by:

Great bottle jack.

  • Can Scissor Jack of Trailer be Used to Change Tire
Scissor jacks are only designed to be used as a way to stabilize a camper to minimize movement when you are parked and camping. They don't have the strength to support the full weight of a camper to change a spare and honestly it would be pretty dangerous to even attempt to do so. Especially if the trailer has a 9,000 lb GVWR. Instead a bottle jack like the part # ALL647501 would be a great option to keep with in the event of a blow out.

  • Recommended Jack to Change Tires on a Trailer
Scissor jacks for trailers or RVs such as # TJSC-24 are not meant to lift the trailer/RV off the ground. They are meant as support only. What I recommend is a bottle jack such as # ALL647501. This is a 24,000 pound jack that has a lift range of 8-1/4 inches to 16-5/16 inches. Need more lift? Bottle jack # ALL647503 is rated for 40,000 pounds and has a lift range from 9-11/16 inches to 17-5/8 inches. The great thing about bottle jacks is they are compact, easy to store, and can also be...

  • Trailer Jack Recommendation w/at Least 10k Weight Capacity for Changing a Spare Tire
For a great jack to change a spare tire, I recommend the Powerbuilt Bottle Jack # ALL647501. This jack comes with a massive 24,000 pound weight capacity, so you don't have to worry about exceeding that limit. As far as lift height, it extends from 8-1/4" tall - 16-5/16" tall. I went ahead and attached a video of the jack being used to lift up a trailer.

  • Recommended Electric Tongue Jack for a 24' Car Trailer with 10,000 lb. Capacity
For your car trailer I recommend the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-3755. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs. and 1,500 lbs. So with the 3,500 lb. capacity of this jack you have plenty of room to spare. Since this question was asked from a A-frame jack, I am working under the assumption that is what you have. This will have a bolt-on...

  • Jack For Changing Tire on Grand Design Reflection
For changing tires on your Grand Design Reflection use a bottle jack, the Powerbuilt Bottle Jack - 8-1/4" to 16-5/16" Lift - 24,000 lbs # ALL647501. This can also work on your Chevy, assuming you have a solid place for it to support the truck.

  • What Would be Needed to Change Trailer Wheel and Tire if On Side of Road
You'd need a high capacity bottle jack like the Powerbuilt part # ALL647501 which has a 24,000 lb capacity. You'd also want a 4-way wrench for installing and removing the lug nuts. If you need a spare wheel and tire let me know what tire size you have and your wheel bolt pattern.

  • Recommended Bottle Jack for Utility Trailer Spare Tire Change
It is wise to keep a bottle jack handy for any trailer tire replacement. The vehicle jack is often designed to specifically go with that vehicle and the capacities can be very different as well as the style for proper function as the frames can be very different. For your 5x10 utility trailer, I recommend the Powerbuilt Bottle Jack - 6-3/16" to 12-1/16" Lift - 4,000 lbs # ALL640405 which depending on your loaded trailer weight should be more than sufficient. If you need more than 12-1/16...

  • Can Blaylock EZ Jack System Be Used to Service Trailer Tires
In a sense you're overthinking it, yes. The Blaylock EZ Jack and Wheel Chock for Tandem-Axle Trailers # EZ-JACK can be used both to help level out your trailer on uneven ground but it's also great for temporarily raising a side of the trailer to change out a tire like what you mentioned doing. You just want to avoid leaving your trailer in that position for an extended period of time at full capacity. If you do need to leave your trailer jacked up like that for a while then you need to...

  • Can Stallion Stabilizer Jacks Be Used to Lift Trailer to Change Tire
Mounting four of the Stallion Stabilizer Jacks # 288-01892-2 on each corner of your enclosed trailer will do a great job of stabilizing the unit so it doesn't rock back and forth as you load/unload cargo or climb in and out of it, however these are not designed to actually lift a portion of the trailer. Because of this I cannot recommend using these to raise even a lighter trailer like yours for the purpose of changing a tire. A much better option for this is a simple bottle jack like...

  • Can Trailer Scissor Jack be Used to Change Spare
Hey Judd, so none of the scissor jacks we offer should be used as a jack to change a tire although I am sure people out there at some point have done so. They are just designed to stabilize the trailer and not support that much weight. Instead you would need a bottle jack like the part # ALL647501 instead for this application.

  • Tire Change Jack For An 11,000 lb Toy Hauler
There are a couple options that may interest you. One very popular option is the Blaylock EZ Jack # EZ-JACK. This is a wedge-style jack. Basically what you would do for a triple axle trailer is turn the curve up, opposite the wheel, and then drive the trailer up on to the jack which will allow you to change a tire. The main things I like about this option is that it is compact and lightweight, it also does not require any "elbow grease" like a manual crank jack. It also can be used as a...

  • Recommended Trailer Jack Versus Trailer Stabilizer Jack
The Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks - 24" Lift - 6,500 lbs - Qty 2 # UF48-979002 although they look like the scissor jacks that come with many vehicles for spare tire change are not intended for lifting according to the manufacturer. They are likely strong enough for that use as you stated on your application, but I can't recommend it based on the warranty of the product even though these are rated much higher than the weight you will be lifting. You can absolutely use these to stabilize...
