  • Prevents electrical feedback and the damage it can cause to your vehicle's electrical components
  • Diodes powder coated aluminum case is corrosion resistant and provides protection from the elements
  • Brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if used with supplemental braking system
  • Flexo-Coil cord is resitant to water, oil, chemicals, and has silicone-injected plugs to prevent corrosion
  • Center pin on 6-Way plug wired to 12V power, there are two industry standards
  • Includes:
    • 4 Hy-Power diodes
    • 4-Wire harness
      • 27" Long
    • Wire connectors
    • Cable ties
    • 1 Ring terminal

Note: For applications that have separate lighting, this kit will cause your brake lights to function as both brake and turn signal lights. A wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes (RM-792) will be needed if you want to retain separate turn and brake signals.

Separate vs. Combined Lighting Systems

Some automobiles operate on a 3-wire system, wherein the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. (Typically, these vehicles have amber turn signals.) This is referred to as a "separate lighting system". When you hook up for flat towing using this kit, your towed car's lighting system will operate in a combined fashion regardless of whether it typically has combined or separate lighting. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried on a single wire. As a result, your car's brake lights will do the flashing for the turn signals. Your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.

Do You Need a Brake Light Relay?

Because this kit wires your vehicle as a combined system, a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

Very complete kit. My only problem mounting it in a 2014 Chevy Spark is the limited space for the diodes. After much trial and fitting I found a suitable location. See photo.

System has worked great on several trips in the last year. Including a 5,407 mile trip out west.

Finished wiring and first effort to plug in red flex coil to the Jeep and the outside protection cover broke apart; very disappointing. Trying to contact Etrailer for replacement.

by:
2011 Jeep Wrangler

We added this kit and tow cable to keep our Jeep battery charged while towing, so the supplemental brake could stay powered. It has worked well for us for several long trips from GA to NH and MI. The Jeep side of the tow cable ended up with a crack in the metal plug, but we were able to get a replacement plug and rewire it pretty easily. We are going to complete the wiring for the tail lights before our next trip.

by:

My Roadmaster Sterling tow bar has a channel for the wiring kit to run through. the coiled wire is not easy to work with on this bar if you want it to run through the channel. 10 months into using it the 6 wire end disintegrated and had to be replaced. luckily we were camped right beside a Camping World.

I have to say : E trailer always delivers !
This is exactly what ya need if you are adding a second vehicle or swapping your old system to a new rig. I could have gotten by without the plug but for the price decided I should get a spare.
Delivery was prompt and product was exactly as described.

by:

Installed as per video...I had a local car/truck accessory shop install mind as way too many facial screws for me to content with. $400 to have it done right.
(A little worried that if I get too close to a vehicle or wall that some damage my occur as cable connector and braking wiring sticks out 3-4 inches from front of car.) My older system was cleaner design across the front of the car.

by:
2011 Jeep Wrangler

The video instructions made this harness very easy to install (other than routing the wire to the back of the Jeep). Everything functions as it should. I'm very happy I went with this harness versus magnetic lighting.

Just wanted everyone to know, that after one year of owning and using the Roadmaster towing baseplate, and the wiring harness for my 2022 Ford Maverick, I have accumulated over 10,000 miles of trouble free towing behind my Motorhome. The folks at etrailer did a great job making sure I had the right parts and at a good price. Delivery of the parts was exactly the day it was promised. I highly recommend them when need these kind of parts. I really appreciated the great and friendly service!! Safe travels

GMC Sierra

The wiring kit does what it is supposed to do. I would like to see all of the terminal connections to be the marine grade heat shrink type with the solder inside. The type that join the wires with a heat-gun. I installed this in a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. I chose to mount the connector by drilling an hole through the plastic front license plate. This will be covered with a flip-up license plate frame. All-in-all, I would purchase this set again.

A bit of a learning curve for first time dyi on this type of thing. Key is to make sure you figure out what type of brake light systems you have. There are 2 types and 2 different wiring diagrams. Read directions thoroughly. Works well. 2009 dodge 2500 install

Works good. Reasonably easy to install. The diodes are large and you have to get them 'just so' behind the tail lamp assemblies to get the lights to seat properly.

Shawnee provided excellent service on the phone order, delivery was prompt and the installation videos were excellent!

The roadmaster connection kit for our brake system on our toad has worked perfectly.

by:

Project went as expected. I did purchase additional split loom from Harbor Freight to protect the wires from the front to the rear of my truck. It easily ran inside the frame rails!

I have had no problems with wiring kit. it works well on my Ranger'

Works as advertised. Installation takes some time but instructions were very good. No complaints.

The tow package has been working very well and makes hauling my F150 a breeze.

by:

Very good quality components but not for the average do-it-yourselfer. Instructions are very generic, my motorhome has the Vansco VMM , so you better be 100% correct with your wiring or it could become very expensive. I paid a rv dealer to do the install. Works great.

Ford Ranger

I really appreciate your quality of products, & knowledgeable people to get correct answers to questions. We recently traded our Jeep for a 2020 Ford Ranger. I wanted to get a clean looking wiring hookup to tow behind our motorhome. You guys were the first place I thought of! Really appreciate your vast stock of products, & knowledge to back it up! We live full time in our coach, & Etrailer has a great supply of items that could me in handy for our life style! Thank you!

by:
Roadmaster

Unfortunately first set was defective from Roadmaster. Etrailer sent another set and return label which installed correctly, eTrailer was great to work with.

by:

If you have a tow vehicle definitely need to invest in this kit. It makes connection so much faster and easier using your vehicles existing light to perform like trailer lights.

Could not be easier to install..instructions right on..work great

  • Tow Bar Lighting Solution for 2015 GMC Sierra 1500
The best flat tow lighting kit we have for your 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is the Roadmaster diode kit part # RM-15267. We don't have custom fit lighting kits for all of the vehicles we have at this time and your Sierra is one that we don't have. We haven't had anyone come back and tell us that the diodes had been problematic in winter climates though. Typically if there's issues with any style its the ones that are custom fit for what that's worth.

  • Can Flat Towed Vehicle with Separate Turn Signals be Wired as Combined
Tow bar lighting solutions like the Roadmaster kit part # RM-15267 that wire the vehicle as a combined setup can be installed on vehicles that have separate setups. The kit would install on the stoplights that also have the running light function since regardless of combined or separate those two circuits at least are always on the same bulbs. So you can install the Roadmaster kit on your setup and the stoplights, turn signals, and running lights will all still function.

It is always preferable to attach the ground directly to the chassis frame, and where you can safely ground the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 depends on if the owner's manual of your 2018 Toyota Corolla iM specifies a location that you need to attach the ground wire. What we have found when there is an issue with running lights but not other lights when installing the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 is that the problem is almost always due to an issue with the diodes. So if the wires are not properly routed with the diodes, or there is an issue where a wire was somehow crimped or damaged then the running lights would not work.
