Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Fit perfectly on a 2001 mercury grand marquis Worked great had to drill two holes. Wasn't bad at all I've used it quite a bit since then with no trouble

Works great 2001 mercury grand marquis towed a trailer from ca to NC did surprising well its full size hitch

Pretty happy, perfect fit for my 2010 Crown Vic and the best price I could find. Also received it lightning fast. Installed it myself, had to drill only two 1/2" holes in the rear of the frame (it uses two already present frame holes in front). Did not have to do anything with the tail pipes or their mounts (I have two pipes, it is PI model). The hitch does not touch the bumper cover in any way. Also the wire tool to insert the bolts into the frame was included.

by:
2001 Ford Crown Victoria

Installation was as easy as i could imagine. This hitch is very heavy duty. The car most likely wont tow the amount of weight needed to break this hitch. The only thing that i dislike is that it is so high that the bumper rests on it. Not a huge problem but just something that i noticed. . Overall i am very happy with the hitch, Great quality and easy installation. Etrailer shipped fast and before i knew it my hitch was at my door.

2006 Ford Crown Victoria

I installed this by myself in about 40 minutes. I only had to drill 2 Holes in my frame to match The Holes in the hitch. It fit perfect. The lead wire for the bolt made it really easy. NO fighting to get The bolts and washers in place. I would do this again.

Trailer hitch was delivered damaged. Mounting brackets were severely bent. Customer service recommended bending them back myself!?!?!? How about NOT shipping damaged items to people?

I understand how frustrating it must be to receive a product that needs a little tweaking. We do sometimes reship highly flexed items but I fear that the next hitch may arrive slightly flexed as well. They are made to flex in case of an accident. Here is a help article explaining more tips on how to fix this:

Purchased for a 2010 Crown Vic. no issues with installation.
Excellent purchasing experience through etrailer. Plenty of information online and any questions can be answered by their knowledgeable staff.
Will definitely recommend to others.
Thanks

by:

the product is grate sturdy construction but its not just bolt on you have to drill the holes in the frame so if your not an expert mechanic like myself you will have to pay someone to mount it for you. but it is the same one thy mount on trucks so very sturdy unit the wire harness plugs right in no problem but you will have to cut off the head and replace it or drill a bigger hole
the hitch head you will have to use upside down because thy send you the step down instead of the step up

2010 Mercury Grand Marquis

This worked out so well for my 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis. It took about 1.5 to 2 hours to install myself. It would have gone quicker with another set of hands. I put the car on four jack stands all the way around. (If you are going to wire in a light kit, this is a great time to run a hot wire from the battery.)

I used my floor jack to take the weight of the hitch so I could mark the rear holes. The front holes were already there and the "fish wire" was really nifty. I used brand new drill bits (1/8", 3/16" and finally 1/2") some WD-40 and a cordless 18v drill.

MAKE SURE TO WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!!!!

I was on my back, drilling straight up. I had my glasses on and got a ton of shavings in my hair and all over my face and neck, not fun. I imagine it would be worse without glasses.

That said, the hitch works great. I got it for a bike rack and to tow a utility trailer. A class III hitch is a bit of overkill for that application; however, I would rather have a little too much than a little to little.

The online videos were a great help. Just take your time, drink plenty of water and have a few Lemonheads.

by:
Ford Crown Victoria

The hitch fit up great. I do wish they had added a second fishing spring though, as the 1st 2 bolts went in pretty easy, but then I couldn't get the spring off the second two very easily. Also was not thrilled with the shipping box. It was ripped completely in half and taped back together also the anchor pcs inside were ripped away also. Resulting in many paint scratches and dents in the steel. I was impressed with the great fit up though. Did not have to move any pipe hangers either, my Crown Victoria is a P71 Police Interceptor.

Shopped around and found the best deal and instruction videos on etrailer! I ordered it Feb 13th (Tuesday), received and email confirmation saying your had has been received and will be delivered on Feb 16th (Monday). Next morning Wednesday morning I receive a tracking number and says it will be delivered Feb 15th! And it was! Quick service!! Very happy with the hitch, thank you etrailer

by:

You promised it would arrive on Friday or Saturday but it came on Thursday which was even better. Instructions for installation were clear and we installed it in 30 minutes today (Friday) Thank you Susan for the great service. All the parts were there. Now the hitch is on and we can go trailering.

2010 Ford Crown Victoria

Installation was a breeze, and only took about 45-60 minutes. Seamless fit, and the receiver is very sturdy. The order processing and shipping was extremely fast, and the customer service was great!

by:
2008 Ford Crown Victoria

Installation was great, once I had two holes drilled it was much easier than expected. The whole apparatus is custom fitted yet very forgiving for a first timer. And customer service is great as well. I received a link to a detailed tracking history, which is a nice touch. Highly recommend if you're looking to tow with your 2008 Crown Victoria as well.

by:

Just what I expected, excellent quality and excellent service

by:

Iv'e ordered multiple times from etrailer, and as before fast service. I don't even shop for prices anymore. Plus the videos are very helpful.
Thanks etrailer.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Towing a Motorcycle Trailer with a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis
We have several hitches available for your 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. I would recommend a Class 3 hitch for towing your motorcycle trailer and because the 2 inch receiver opening will provide many more options for accessories in the future. The Draw-Tite Class 3 Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch, item # 41116, would be a good selection and will require a spacer Kit, ordered on the product page, for installation. The Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch, item # 13707, is also a good choice and comes with...

  • Does Draw Tite Trailer Hitch 41116 Fit 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis
The Draw Tite hitch part # 41116 is a confirmed fit for your 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. For a ball mount you'd need the part # 36063, for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball part # 19257, for 2 inch ball part # 19258, then for trailer wiring # C59236.

We do sell replacement hardware for the trailer hitches we offer. For that you would need part # RHK. On the product page you would need to enter the part number of the hitch you have and select the manufacturer of the hitch that you have. Most likely you have the Curt # 13707 or the Draw Tite # 41116 which are the two Class III hitches we offer for your 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis.

  • Recommended Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver That is Most Hidden on a 2004 Mercury Marquis
We carry two Class III trailer hitch receivers that will fit your 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. A Curt, # 13707, and a Draw-Tite, # 41116. Both of them are basically the same style and the only thing you'll see under the car's bumper is the receiver opening and safety chain loops. Between the two I recommend the Curt because it has a little higher weight capacity than the Draw-Tite. But for appearance purposes they'll basically be the same.

  • Recommended Wheelchair Carrier and Trailer Hitch for a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis
Hey Erman, for a wheelchair carrier I recommend checking out the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier # FHG77ZR. This wheelchair carrier will simply slide into any 2" trailer hitch, has a 48" long loading ramp, and has a nice 500 lb capacity. If you don't already, you're going to need to add a hitch with the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41116 which is custom fit to your vehicle.
