Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the tow harness, locate the fuse box under your vehicle's hood and insert the provided 20-amp fuse as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out of the way location in your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Love the product. I did have to buy a tap to make the thread for the car because it was oxidize. Just bought the M12 1.25 as the thread if the bolt and it worked. Unused a jack to assist me in picking up the draw type hitch.

The wiring harnesss was a breeze to install. Excellent product. Recommend

I was a bit intimidated
when I open this product up. I read the instructions and went for it.
The pre-wired trailer wiring plug was the only thing I had problems finding. The picture provided in the instructions didn't exactly match what I was seeing on my car.
Turns out it was just hidden, through the access hole look or feel forward towards the front of the car. (picture attached) The actual plugging is done by feel, one can't see it and plug it at the same time.
After that, all is good...

Thanks to Keiths comments, it was easy to find. I went back in with a flashlight and reached around and it. Again, thanks to Keith!!!

After a year, no issues with the wiring kit what-so-ever.Works perfectly.

by:

Straightforward instructions with easy installation. as for the hitch, I used the empty shipping box to hold the hitch in place, while I inserted the bolts by myself!

by:

Excellent product overall. Flat 4 wire to the connector needs to be at least 6” longer to facilitate installation when routing through the tire well grommet to the hitch. Everything had to be positioned too critically to get it to reach the hitch. It worked but not easily as it should.

by:
2017 Acura RDX

Right from picking up the box (great design) at the front door I knew this was going to be a well thought out product. The meticulous and well placed videos on install are first rate and made fitment a breeze.

by:
2013 Acura RDX

The product arrived by UPS very quickly. The packaging was damaged however the product inside had been packed well enough that it was not damaged. Two items were ordered; a Draw-Tite trailer hitch and a T-One wiring harness. The online video was very helpful in describing the installation process for the hitch. I was able to install the hitch by myself in less than a hour. The wiring harness was a little more difficult since Acura doesn't provide much space in which to work and the factory trailer wiring connector is on a very short line. It was also difficult to get the trailer lead routed under the deck panels and into the spare wheel well. But I succeeded. Overall I am very pleased with the results.

5/23/2014

After a year of use I am still pleased with the installation. The harness tucks safely under the rear storage cover in the RDX. No issues have occurred with use. This is a great product.

by:
2017 Acura RDX

Installed it myself, with the help of a jack, in under an hour!

by:

Everything worked as expected. Had to tap out the receiver nuts on the frame, but I expected that given that the vehicle has 75,000 miles.

by:
2014 Acura RDX

Got the product promptly and installed hitch and harness in 30 minutes! For the harness - Just pull the speaker panel behind the left rear seat (driver's side) and the harness was right there. Plug harness in, feed the plug under the spare tire liner, attached ground to taillight assembly (10mm bolt) and stick module to wheel well using two sided type. Done!

Again, a few paint chips but not a big deal. Quickly fixed with some fast drying paint. Installation was reasonably easy, but the space under the Acura RDX when working on the ground is not generous. Post-2012 Acura RDX need to have metal blocks (included) fitted between the chassis and hitch plates due the shaping of the chassis. Getting the holes aligned and bolts engaged while holding up the hitch was the trickiest part. Wiring per the video was simple but it would be helpful to have a video showing how the wiring can be permanently routed out to be mounted on the hitch (as is available for a Hyundai Tucson).

AWB, thank you for your review. If you would like to route the 4 way wiring underneath the vehicle then you will have to find a grommet hole in the cargo area of the vehicle. If you do not have a grommet hole large enough you will need to drill your own hole using a hole saw, please check the underside of the vehicle is clear of obstructions. Once you route the wire through the hole you want to make sure you use some type of grommet or sealant such as part # 0160297 to keep out moisture and fumes. I see you have the Draw-Tite hitch part # 75784. This hitch already has a mounting point for a bracket. You will need a 4-way bracket part # 18144 to attach to the existing bracket on your hitch.

by:

Installation was simple and exactly as per instructions. Feeding the hitch wire under the foam pad in the tire well was a bit challenging but doable.

I only use the hitch very occasionally but both products are working well with absolutely no problems.

2014 Acura RDX

This was my second purchase of a wiring kit for my RDX. The first was a Wxxxxx product that provided instructions NOT for my car. I found other product instructions on line for my car that made sense. Therefore I knew the W. product was wrong and I had to send it back. The T-One product plugged in exactly as instructed. Installation was actually easier that instructed. My only problem was that the right side lights of my trailer initially did not work. They did work with my other vehicle (2003 Buick Rendezvous). After checking the plug output, there was power at P(parking) , L & R signals. I attached a ground, the ran a jumper from P to P ... worked. Did same for L, then R. Each individually, and they all worked. So this told me that the power requirements were too much for all three at once. I cleaned up the ground connection at the non-functioning light (R) and confirmed it was good, plugged the connectors together, and it all worked as it should. Perfect! The reason it worked on the Buick is probably because the wiring is directly from the light wiring. The T-One isolates the trailer from the rest of the harness, thereby protecting the electrical systems. That sounds good to me.

by:
Acura RDX

I worked perfectly for our RDX, with very little trouble when I installed it. Length of wiring harness was great and all things hooked up just right. Worked the first time with all trailer lights working.

by:
2017 Acura RDX

Easy install took all of about 10 minutes to install the wire harness.

Thank you George One year has passed already? Wow! Everything is still working great. I have hauled my Harley up and down California with ease and the system functions perfectly. I was going to rent a hitch and a trailer from U-Haul the first time a year ago but when I saw the price of $179 one way, I decided on buying and installing your tow package for a total of around $140. Best deal I could have made. trailer was $12 per day so still came in under their one way deal. Everything since has been a bonus. Can beat it!!

by:

Can the wiring harness be fed to the outside under he car to the hitch? Currently it is in the spare tire comparment area & I would have to close the hatch on the wire to connect to the outside trailer. That could cause a wiring failure. The wiring currently works great as is.

by:
2017 Acura RDX

Perfect fit on my 2017 Acura RDX and the installation only took about 15 minutes. When you remove the rear access cover inside the car the connector you attach the new harness to was not immediately visible so I needed flashlight to locate it. The 4-pin connector that attaches to you trailer lighting is stored where the spare tire goes and has plenty of length to make it to you hitch. Great product!

by:
2013 Acura RDX

Purchased this product and the Curt Class III , 2” inch receiver hitch for a 2013 Acura RDX. Absolutely a perfect plug and play installation that took all of 10 minutes. The online video of this installation is better than the provided instructions. Extremely fast shipping! Received it in two days. Etrailer.com always seems to have exactly what I need and ships it very quickly. Pleasure doing business with them. Customer service is outstanding!

by:
2014 Acura RDX

Install was easier than expected. Inserting the trailer plug was easiest when following the factory cable from the spare tire area back to the wheel well and pushing the trailer plug into the spare tire area. No need to remove any of the foam sound deadening material.

by:
2017 Acura RDX

I received this wiring harness very quickly from etrailer and had it installed in 20 minutes. Very pleased with this as well as the hitch I received prior to getting the wiring harness. Good instructions.

by:
2015 Acura RDX

The kit showed up quickly, had all the right parts, was simple to install and works perfectly. What more could you ask for? The 2015 Acura RDX wiring pigtail is short and difficult to find and reach through the access cover so the panel around the access cover also had to be pulled away from the body along with removing the left side black foam spare tire surround piece. It all went back together easily and works great.

by:
2016 Acura RDX

This wiring harness is complete and plugs in to the Acura RDX wiring harness for trailer wiring perfectly. The instructions are clear and thorough and installation was quick and easy.

by:

This is the second I have ordered a trailer hitch for my car at etrailer. The hitch from drawtite fits the car very neatly and appears to be well made. Installation was simple with instructions provided. The hitch on our new car will allow me to use my utility trailer once again.

by:
Acura RDX

Easy to install, both the wiring and hitch kits included everything needed for installation on my Acura RDX.

by:
2015 Acura RDX

Ordered metal clip holder along with 4way flat wiring harness. Back order on metal clip until sometime in Nov. Wanted clip but did not want to wait for wiring harness and I did not want to pay shipping on metal clip so I cancelled order on clip.

by:

At first I could not find the blue harness connector behind the paneling so I read a few reviews that also had the same problem. I found it tucked away and quickly secured it and the rest of the wiring. I want to run it through the body under the frame so it doesn't stick out my trunk. Will try that later. Everything went as instruction noted. The only concern is the length of the wiring that attaches to the trailer. Good job!

  • Does Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit 2017 Acura RDX
Yes it does! The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13130 will absolutely fit your 2017 Acura RDX. In fact, the accompanying photos show this hitch on a '17 RDX. This is a simple, bolt-on installation that doesn't require any drilling or fascia/bumper cutting of any kind; all you have to do is lift the hitch into place and bolt it on. They both will actually install the exact same. They both use the same trailer wiring connector that's at the rear of your vehicle behind the interior trim panel. • How Is 4-Pole Connector Routed to Hitch Once Installed on 2013 Acura RDX
To use the trailer connector, you would simply pull the connector from the spare tire well and plug in your trailer. You then close the liftgate on the wire. The rubber weatherstripping on the rear door is plenty thick enough that closing the door on the wiring will not damage it in any way as long as you keep the wiring away from the latch, which WILL damage it. This seems like a very strange way of routing the cable, but keeping the connector stowed in the spare tire well when it is...
