How Is 4-Pole Connector Routed to Hitch Once Installed on 2013 Acura RDX
Question:
Very clear instructions but all the wiring is mounted and contained in the spare tire well when not in use. How do I access the harness for use - how does the wiring reach the external hitch?

To use the trailer connector, you would simply pull the connector from the spare tire well and plug in your trailer. You then close the liftgate on the wire.
The rubber weatherstripping on the rear door is plenty thick enough that closing the door on the wiring will not damage it in any way as long as you keep the wiring away from the latch, which WILL damage it.
This seems like a very strange way of routing the cable, but keeping the connector stowed in the spare tire well when it is not being used protects the connector from corrosion and damage, which is precisely why Tow Ready designed it to work that way. We use the wiring harness installed on our van the same exact way, and in almost 4 years of fairly heavy use, the wiring has not been damaged and still works great.
