Trailer Wiring Solution for 2018 Acura RDX To Use as Way to Power Ski Bag Warmer

Question:

2018 Acura RDX I would like to add a 12V plug to the rear of my RDX so I can hook up my ski bag warmer without having to run a wire from the from of my vehicle. I was thinking I could use the trailer wiring system and use the hot taillight when lights are on from the trailer wire to power the plug. The boot bag draws 7.5 amps. Would using the trailer taillight wire work?

The max amperage draw of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118569 that you referenced is 7.5 amps so if your ski bag warmer draws 7.5 amps you'd be pretty close to shorting it out.

Your best option would be to install this kit and then also install the # ETBC7L and use the power circuit of the adapter which would be rated for 40 amps and would easily work well. If the warmer normally powers from a cigarette lighter style of connector you could use the # HM47675 to easily make the connection as this plugs into the 7-way and provides that type of outlet.
