Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Bought this wiring harness for our 2006 Pontiac Vibe, and it was an absolute breeze to install going by the very detailed instructions that came with the harness. I highly recommend this vendor for both the fast shipping and for a very excellent product.
I have bought 2 tow bars from etrailer.com, one for my 2006 Ford Focus from like 5 years ago, and another for my 2004 Pontiac Vibe this past fall. Both arrived on time and were super simple to install. I had trouble installing my Pontiac Vibe tow bar, but that was because the mounting holes on my car were a bit rusted over. I called customer support who walked me through cleaning those out, and I got it installed right away then. Their wiring harnesses are also super easy to install and the directions are clear and concise. I highly recommend etrailer.com for any towing bar and wire harness needs. I now can tow my sailboat wherever I want to go!
Gwen really helped me by sending me video with great audio explain in detail how to install the wire harness. at first got frustrated with the paper instructions, after speaking to Gwen, the video she sent and listening to the audio of the color of the bulbs and wire to connect to, it was a snap. I had my mechanic install it shortly after I received it. He said it was pretty easy to install. It’s been a year now and the wiring harness is still working fine. I’ve made a couple trips back-and-forth from Florida to West Virginia. Pulling a trailer with no issues.
Quality product, good price, excellent service. On Wednesday, I ordered the full kit: hitch, drawbar, ball, and wiring kit. It all arrived in a single box on Monday with all the pieces properly wrapped and protected. Installation took about an hour, and was straight forward and clean, just like the videos. The wiring kit was just as easy : identify the correct plugs at the tail lights and make the connections. First mission for the new hitch will be to take the patio furniture to my daughter's house.
Amateur tips: I have homemade ramps that give me an extra 4 inches to get under the car. Perfect height. Use a floor jack and 2x6 board to lift the hitch assembly into place without straining. As others have advised, I checked the threads on the car before starting and used anti-seize in case I ever need to remove the hitch. Last item: check the wrench size on the bolts before you start. Instructions said 19mm, but mine were actually 18mm. Found this when the socket "popped" during the torquing process.
Wiring was fantastic. Plug and play. Took about 5 minutes to install it!
I haven't installed it yet it looks good I checked the plugs it's going to work perfect.
It's not easy to put a hitch on a random 16-year-old car. Luckily my car was in good enough shape, and the frame was not too rusty from the NE USA salty winter roads. I expected to install it myself, but I had it done professionally for $130. I hooked up the wiring harness easily enough thru the large access panels in the Vibe.
Wire harness was super easy to install. Only took about 5 mins. I hooked it up to my teardrop camper and all works well.

Its been a year. Still using the wire harness with no issues. I would definitely recommend this product
We used this and a class II hitch from eTrailer to allow our Pontiac Vibe to pull a little garden trailer. The wiring kit works as advertised.
Don't particularly like having to take in and out the 4pin connector through the hatch, but it works. The wiring and connectors are of good quality and ought to hold up.
All products I have received from etrailer, hitches and wiring harnesses have served my needs well. I greatly appreciated that the 118458 harness did not require running wire to the battery!! Having instruction videos makes your services outstanding.
Installation was idiot proof and the product works as advertised
Super easy to install. Even left it better than OEM by adding protective mesh wrap on all wires. Installations were clear but if you are a visual learner, e-trailer got you covered with multiple of installtion videos for different models. I greatly recommend this product!

Wire to left taillight too short - it would only reach if stretched straight across the hatch opening.

Im still happy with them. I now use the setup, with added brakes and an adapter to tow my race car.
This is an OK product that works like it is suppose to but could be a lot better in design. Poor instructions. The instructions do,nt tell you but they intend for you to simply run the flat trailer harness out through where the back hatch closes on it. I refused to do that so I cut it and ran it out a rubber access hole just below the left tail light and spliced,soldered,insulated back together. Much cleaner, professional look underneath.
Ordered this wiring kit for my Pontiac Vibe. Shipping was quick, arrived in 4 days. I watched the eTrailer YouTube installation video and literally was able to install the wiring kit in approximately 15 minutes. The wiring kit is high guality and well worth the price. I highly recommend this product.
This after market 4-pole trailer light adapter worked as advertised on my 2005 Pontiac Vibe. The installation was simple and clean.
Great product once I figured out what connectors they were talking about. On the drivers side there is a couple of connectors taped together with electrical tape, thought it could be these.
If they would say to remove connectors on the back of the tail l ight assembly it would have been clearer.
But it worked great once we got past that part.
The hitch attached very easily - no problem at all. The harness was easy to install as well. The hitch looks good on the car - not any more noticeable than necessary. I wanted to get a small economical car but I wanted to be able to carry plywood & sheetrock also - the trailer is the answer. I wasn't sure whether the drawbar rise or drop would be correct when I ordered but the rise was just right.
Easy to install and works great! It didn't come with double-sided tape, but I don't think that's necessary. If you need to tow a trailer, this is the light kit I'd get.
Installed easily on my Pontiac Vibe (Class I towing). I have used it successfully 4 times already for towing...

Everything is holding up as advertised and as I expected. Without this kit getting supplies and equipment for house projects would be a real headache. This hitch kit makes that process clean and simple. I would recommend this to anybody.
