Recommended Trailer Brake Controller and Wiring for 2005 Pontiac Vibe

Question:

I have a 05 Pontiac Vibe I need to wire it up to tow a pop up camper that has electric brakes so I will need a brake controller. Just not sure what I need.... The standard harness plus the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat? or just the universal kit. And could you recoment a controler? dont want to break the bank if possible. Thanks

To install a trailer brake controller on your 2005 Pontiac Vibe, you will just need a few things.

If you do not already have a 4-way connector installed, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118458. This will allow you to quickly install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle. No cutting, splicing or tapping into wires is required. I have attached an installation video on your vehicle for you to check out.

After the 4-way connector is installed, you will then use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This will include everything you need to install both the brake controller and a 7-way connector. The installation details have been attached on this kit as well.

Lastly, for a trailer brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160. This is a nicely priced proportional brake controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Pontiac Vibe. It features a digital display with continuous diagnostics to alert you of any potential issues.
