Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Finally got the chance to install the wiring harness . As I had pulled the wheel well covers for under carriage restoration it made the installation easier . The Bumper will be ordered soon & there is plenty of slack for connection .
Great purchase . This was installed on a 1997 Sport Wrangler .

Purchased the 2 part trailer stainless steel bumper with trailer bracket . installed wiring and tried out . Everything works fine ..... would recommend

Had trouble putting on hitch the holes had to be enlarged but the hitch is well worth it. The wiring only took 10 minutes at the mechanic. Super good workmanship needs larger hardware sent with hitch thank for Super service

Easy to install and working great 1 year in. Would highly recommend.

1992 Jeep YJ

Amazingly easy kit to install. I spent about an hour installing because I was meticulous about the cable management, yet if you didn't care this could easily take less than 10 minutes. The only possible thing you could mess up on is left and right plugs but even then they're labeled on the wire. Definitely worth the money, and saved all the hassle of heat shrink and soldering cables. The main pro here in my eyes though is the fact that this kit uses connectors, which leaves the wires very well protected compared to others which have you splice.

Your instruction video for installing the wiring harness for my 1997 Jeep Wragler was thorough and easy to follow. Thank you.
I might add one comment that made it a bit easier: I found it helpful to use use a straightened clothes hangar with a string attached to an end of the light assembly to help it through awkward and tight places. I didn’t have access to a car lift and did everything while lying on the ground (see photo).

Product worked great

1995 Jeep Wrangler

After receiving my wiring harness in 3 days for my 1995 Jeep Wrangler, you simply unplug your existing harness, plug the Etrailer Harness in and your set, instant trailer light connection, works excellently ... very moderatley priced, easy installation, and has never failed me yet. This was a waaay easier option than cutting and slicing and trying to figure out which of my existing harness did what... molded plugs in the etrailer harness make it impossible me to mess it up.HIGHLY RECCOMEND this product

1997 Jeep Wrangler

I had dreaded installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, anticipating frustration and grief; however, to my amazement and delight, the installation was a snap, literally. I unsnapped the existing connections and snapped in the installation kit. The instructions were clear, and I spent more time trying to decide where to run the wires than I did making the connections. A great product!! I would highly recommend it.

No problems. Still completely satisfied.

Jeep Wrangler

Real nice plug and play for my Jeep Wrangler TJ. Wiring was perfect length from side to side of the Jeep and a perfect amount of tail room for the plug that goes to the trailer. Installation was incredibly easy, even without the video, and only took a matter of minutes.
Excellent, will recommend to all my Jeep friends and driving buddies who are trying to make their own, this is a much better option!

I have a 1995 jeep yj. The wiring harness with 4-pole flat connector is working great. The installation video by etrailer was accurate and very helpful. I did not need their customer service for this product but I have had great experience with etrailer.com in the past.

by:
1997 Jeep Wrangler

Fast and easy install. No problems at all when installing. I would suggest wearing safety glasses in my case my jeep still had mud and would fall into your face/eyes. But great product I would recommend it to anyone.

by:

Doesn't get any easier than this! Easy installation and factory-equivalent solution to trailer wiring for my Jeep.

I received my harness and have not installed it yet. It looks like it’s just what I wanted. Let you know how it works.

Your Jeep Trailer/Tail light worked like a champ. The last Jeep we reconfigured, had us struggling in making our own" home made" wiring harness work, it worked but it was allot of work. Your quick adapters no solder connections were super fast. And the YouTube show had us up to speed in seconds.. Thank you

I'd been putting off wiring my jeep for trailer lights for a couple years. I went online to make the job a little quicker and I ran across a video of someone installing this wiring kit on a jeep. It could not have been easier. You basically just plug and play. The video had a link for the kit, which took me to the etrailer site. I placed the order and etrailer had it to me in about 3 days. The job took me a couple hours only because I decided to remove the rear bumper and run the wiring through a harness just to prevent the wires from rubbing through at some point. Great product and made the job quick, easy and clean. The one thing that would make this kit better is, it should come with the black flex harness. No exterior wiring is going to hold up without it. Definitely a 5 star product.

Put on my jeep 97 SE TJ. Great paint, easy installation every thing required was in the kit. 10mins to put together. Super fast delivery.

by:
1997 Jeep Wrangler

Easiest install ever. My 1997 Jeep TJ had been previously modified for LED tail lights, but this kit just plugged in and works great. 30 minutes well spent.

by:
1993 Jeep YJ

Ordered this to wire into my 93 Jeep YJ to tow my utility trailer. Easy to install. Didn't need to remove rubber/plastic protection cover at bottom of Jeep; just pushed it aside and reached up to plug in the connectors. No need to cut into wiring.

Keep in mind if you have aftermarket bumper, fuel tank, skid plates, etc your install and wire run may be different than others. I have an aftermarket bumper and fuel tank but fishing the wire from one side of the Jeep to the other was pretty easy using mechanical fingers.

Etrailer did a great job of keeping me informed of the backorder of my products and when it shipped. I've dealt with them previously and have had excellent service.

by:
1995 Jeep YJ

High quality product with nice connectors, well made, and it fit very well to the existing wiring harness on my Jeep. The flat 4-prong did not fit into the mounting bracket, though. However, I don't see this as a deterrent. It took about 20 minutes to install, and except for a slightly short wiring loom going to the 4-prong flat connector, it is perfect!

by:
Jeep

The trailer wiring harness for my 1993 Jeep YJ fit perfectly!! The cost was very reasonable with fast shipping. The harness came with easy to follow instructions and I had it installed in a very short time. I highly recommend etrailer.

by:
1997 Jeep Wrangler

This is a MUST BUY wiring harness if your considering wiring your Jeep to tow a trailer. It
s completely plug and use. NO wiring splicing required! You do have to screw the ground wire to something metal -- I used the taillight mounting screw as a ground point.
Took less than 20 minutes to install.
Works great. Well worth the extra cost above wiring harness that require splicing.

by:
Jeep Wrangler

It works as easily as described. The hardest part was cleaning the mud off of the wires behind the brake lights on my '97 Wrangler. It took about 20 to 30 minutes to install and wrap the wire nicely around the trailer hitch assembly.

by:
1997 Jeep Wrangler

I purchased this 4 pin trailer wire harness for a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. This harness was plug and play, no surprises. All you need to do is locate your existing tail light plugs from underneath the rear corners of the Jeep, unplug, plug in the new harness, and run your wires. I put some sheathing on the wires and zip tied to the rear crossmember. I also purchased the 4 pin plug mount and would highly recommend it. Great product would buy again.

by:

I could have wired my trailer lights the old fashioned way by cutting, splicing, soldering and heat-shrinking the new wiring to the factory harness, but this pre-made loom made it much quicker. Sure saved a lot of time and cursing!

  • Can 1995 Jeep YJ Use Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit # RM-155 for Trailer Towing
For your 1995 Jeep YJ, the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118356 is what you will want to tow a trailer. This harness installs to the factory connections found beneath the rear of your vehicle on both the driver's and passenger's side. You will find the harness behind protective covers near the rear bumper. Then you can use the mounting bracket # 18144 to hold the harness in place. That is in no way official so it is important to verify with Jeep. In order to tow you will need the following parts: - Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75193 - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118356 - Mounting Bracket 4-Pole...

I would not say that one is better than another since this application does not require any sort of special converter. We hear about less issues with the Tekonsha harnesses, in this case # 118356, so if it were me that is the one I would go with. It will provide the basic light functions for a trailer. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ
For a hitch for your 1993 Jeep Wrangler I would recommend the etrailer hitch # e98859 as it has great towing capacities and an easy install. With that said Adam there just isn't going to be a way to use a carrier for the motorcycle as your Jeep can't handle that amount of weight. The best solution would be to tow a small trailer with the hitch I mentioned. If you need trailer wiring too you'd want the Tekonsha part # 118356 which installs easily.

After doing a little bit of research I was able to determine the maximum tongue weight of your 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ is 300lbs and your maximum towing capacity is 2000lbs. So given the parameters that you're describing, you should be able to tow a small boat in your TJ. In case you don't already have a hitch you may want to look at the Curt Class III Receiver # 13430 , which is sized to fit your Jeep. First you need to start with a 4-way connector if you do not have one already on your 1997 Jeep Wrangler. For that you would want the part # 118356. Then to convert this to a 7-way to match your trailer you need the part # 37185. The purple wire of this kit needs to be connected to your reverse light circuit and you will be set. You would want to use a quick splice like part # SWC501746-1 to tap into the reverse light circuit.
