Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs
part number: RP30051

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Square-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Square-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails
    • Cut installation time in half by using a vehicle-specific bracket kit instead of the universal kit

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
part number: RP56001-53

Heavy-duty, custom brackets dramatically reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Outboard design ensures simple access to mounting points. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails and hardware included.

Features:

  • Installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails
  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese and Valley 5th-wheel hitches
  • Sturdy, black powder coated steel resists corrosion

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.

I’ve alway used hitches from Reese and enjoyed their performance. This is my first 5th hitch. It broke on the third pull. The rod holding the jaws fractured opening one side of the jaws. Thank God the trailer stayed attached and we made it home. Reese saw it was a warranty issue and replaced the hitch. Currently we are still using it and all appears to be working fine

I have a 2019 3500hd single wheel. This is 3rd truck that I have had my valley slider hitch installed in and the first time installing the rails myself. Directions were easy to follow and the etrailer videos helped out as well. Rails are definitely a bit taller than other rails but not much of a concern to me. Glad I decided on this setup. Hardware was accessible and made torquing a bit easier.

Zero concerns. Still just as happy.

by: Robert03/12/2024

I installed on a Chevy 3500HD, its been fine. I've also used with two hitches, a Reese 16k and Curt q20, no problems with either. Frame rails installed fairly easily although I did loose a bolt using one of the pull thru wires. Go slow and take your time and it will work fine.

by: Leroy Nordland06/22/2014

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

Nice ride with this hitch . I was kind of on the fence about the pivoting but I’m good with .

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Great product as usual from Reese. Fast shipping from e trailer. Installed in 2016 3500hd LTZ to pull a 44' XLR toyhauler. Only thing I'd change would be mounting hole location in brackets to frame rails. The B&W hitch I took out used factory installed threaded holes to mount their brackets. Thanks again to REESE & ETRAILER.

by: Matthew06/26/2023

Love the hitch. Hooks up easily and solid. Gives plenty of clearance. Only downside is it’s very noisy and you really feel the trailer. But for the price and weight it’s still 5 stars. Going to go up to a highway payload truck and will be getting the B&W companion for that. Not a reflection of the performance of this hitch though

by: Ken E.01/22/2017

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

by: Danny 06/30/2023

I've used this hitch in an 08 f250 and a 15 ram 2500. All I had to do was purchase a set of frame brackets. The fact this hitch can be easily moved among tricks is great. Easy hitching and unhitching. Easy to use. Easily adjust heights. And the slide option being available is great.

2012 GMC Sierra

I like these rails! Installation was easy because you can access all of the bolts from the wheel wells. (except the two middle bolts). The rails are a little taller and longer than other rails but the ease of installation is worth it. Great installation videos help me decide on what rails to purchase. Customer service confirmed fitment, great service.

by: Gregory01/08/2020

Instructions are very good, all parts came with the hitch and were well protected.
This is the first time I've ever put one of these hitches together so I read the instruction thorough.
There was some lubrication that was required.
It took me 1 1/2 hours.
The only thing I can add is when installing the upper handle for the release pin, it had burrs on the inside of the handle and made it difficult to slide onto the tube.
Make sure you check for burrs and deburr before installing. I would still give them 5 stars.

2018 Chevy 2500 hd went with outside bolt up brackets went great about a hour and a half all done but torquing down didn’t have to get under truck but for center bolts on rails much easier than inside bolt up had that one on previous truck well worth the ext few bucks would highly recommend thanks etrailer

I received the Reese 5th wheel 16,000 lb slider hitch from etrailer in June 2019; installed it in July 2019. Took around five hours to install the base rail kit and Reese hitch start to finish. So far so good, this heavy duty slider hitch works flawlessly with my F250/fifth wheel combo. It arrived in multiple boxes, had excellent instructions and an operating manual. For myself and other do-it-yourselfers, etrailer provides excellent support and installation videos to help with the install.

by: John W09/24/2019

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

by: Tom S Garden city mi05/05/2019

Being a first time 5th wheel owner and After researching for the right 5th wheel hitch for my 2011 ext cab chevy Z71 4wd. and the best prices i went with the reese 16 K slider hitch. A must for a 6 1/2 ft bed.
And etrailer had the best price and were very helpful answering all my questions
The hitch arrived in 3 days,
One of the 2 boxes was a little torn up but nothing was damaged,
The instructions were great, and it had more than enough hardware needed for different apps.
I had 2. choices for the mounting brackets,I went with the custom fit not the universal the custom brackets are strong and fit perfect.
I watched a couple install videos online, there were not many on my truck people said you have to cut out your exhaust and your heat shield and drop the gas tank.I did not have to drop my gas tank i just slightly bent down the heat shield to reach above it then pushed it back up.
I used the Allen button head bolt for the left front and had my wife spin the bolt with a long extension and ratchet while I held the nut and washers with a magnet and my finger tips,it was kind of a (pima) and took a little time but way better than dropping my tank.
I did call Reese with a couple questions and suggested to use stronger shipping boxes.
The only thing I had to adjust was the support for the parking brake cable.
I did the hole job on the ground in my yard
This also was a good time I replaced my rear brakes, checked my spare tire psi,and llubed my cable for the spare lift.
Every one was verry nice and helpful from etrailer and Reese.
I wish I was better with computers and could of made a video

Ordered the Reese 16K square tube slider on Wednesday and received it on Friday even using the free shipping. That is a remarkable delivery on any product especially a very heavy 5th wheel hitch. Assembly requires only a few basic tools. Took my time and within a couple of hours had it installed and ready to use. Bed rails were already installed.

5th wheel hitch rail kit was just as advertised. Installation was easy with the aid of the video on the etrailer Web site.

2015 GMC 2500 HD

I bought this Reese Quick Install bed rail kit for my 2015 GMC 2500HD Denali. Etrailer had great prices and shipped the kit quickly. Installation was straight forward and fairly easy. This kit puts all of the bolts in easily accessible locations which is a blessing compared to other kits that put bolts between the gas tank and bed. Also, I did not have to cut my heat shield to reach the bolts. Install took me less the 1 1/2 hours. I would suggest you follow the etrialer install video instead of the confusing instructions supplied with the kit. I would HIGHLY recommend this kit to anyone looking to install bed rails themselves.

Do you have to remove the rear wheel liners?

Jon H.

10/30/2015

In response to you question Bob, you do not have to remove the stock wheel well liners. If you have the after market liners that cover the frame, you will have to remove them or make holes in them to access the bolts. The bolts that you fish through the frame and the bolts that go through the bed are easily accessible with the factory liners. Also, I did not remove the rear wheels and had no problems. Post any other questions you might have. Jon H

I give etrailer 1 star I would like to give them no stars (less than poor) for this transaction. I received this hitch Thursday 2/10/2022 the box was in a very tattered condition. I opened the box on the next day Friday 2/11/2022 it appeared that the box did not contain all of the pieces for the hitch, looking at the box it showed that there should have been 2 boxes, I received box 1 of 2. I called and spoke with someone at etrailer they informed me that UPS had damaged the second box in shipping, and that they had returned box 2 of 2 to etrailer. I was never informed by UPS or etrailer of what had taken place. I never received any notification that the first box had been delivered. The only correspondence that I have received was an email from Carol C informing me that she was notified that my order had been delivered, she also sent me this link for me to write a review. I have been told by the person that I had spoken to that my missing parts to my hitch would be shipped. It is now 2/14 I still have not received any notification of my parts being shipped, or when I will receive them.

Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel Hitch?

  • Can the Pull-Rite Slide Hitch Be Used With Long Bed Ram
  • Yes, if your current hitch is mounted using the OEM puck system and you are moving into the same vehicle but longer bed, the OEM puck system will be the same and therefore mount without change. While a slide hitch is not needed for a long bed, for slow turns when a slide hitches' movement comes into play, it will not cause any issues outside the ever present need to be concerned with turning radius. When you are ready to change 5th wheel hitch, I strongly suggest that you consider

These brackets are intended to be able to work with your # RP30035 rails. The # RP56001 brackets are designed to be installed on the outboard side of the frame rails and would require a longer set of base rails, so they will not work with the rails you have. Any time you are installing the base rails in a new vehicle the hardware should all be replaced.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible With Revolution Pin Box and 2015 Silverado 2500
  • For your 2015 Silverado 2500HD, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56001-53 which are 48 inches long, fit industry standard hitches, and are easier to install because of the length. If you prefer the traditional 43 inch rails, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50066-58. Both of these have custom brackets so no drilling into the frame

  • What is the Difference Between the Reese Base Rails Part # RP56001-53 and Part # RP50066-58
  • The Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails part # RP56001-53 is an outboard kit and the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails part # RP50066-58 is an inboard base rail kit. The difference between the two brackets is the position in which the bolts attach. Part # RP56001-53 has a set of longer base rails that allow the bolts to be located outside the frame rail whereas part # RP50066-58 has a shorter set of base rails that require the mounting bolts to be positioned inside the frame rail.

  • B and W Patriot Fifth Wheel Hitch and Reese Rail kit for 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500
  • The B and W Patriot hitch you mentioned part # BWRVK3200 is a great USA made hitch that is designed to fit industry standard fifth wheel rails. Any of the rail kits you mentioned will fit this hitch. The Reese kit part # RP56001-53 does fit and would be a great choice. It's an outboard rail kit which means it will install a bit easier than the other ones so it's a great choice. I attached an install video for the rail kit for you to check out as well.

  • The bracket kits for your 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed are # RP56001-53 or # RP50066-58. Both are custom fit industry standard rail kits but the # RP56001-53 is an outboard kit so it installs easier and faster. If your Reese hitch is like the B&W Companion # BWRVK3370 instead you'll need the underbed kit # RP30868.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Rail Kit Recommendation for 2014 GMC Sierra Short Bed Trailer W Max Turn Tech Cap
  • The Max Turn Technology caps that are on the newer Keystone fifth wheels are pretty neat. They basically allow you to make a tight turn with a short bed truck without requiring a slider hitch. As long as you only plan on towing that trailer you could get away with just a stationary hitch. First let's start with a rail kit though. For that you would want a custom install kit like the part # RP56001-53. This will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling.

  • Comparing Reese 5th Wheel Installation Kits for 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 8-Foot Bed
  • The two Reese custom-fit 5th Wheel base rail installation kits you referenced, parts # RP56001-53 and # RP50066-58, both fit your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 8-Foot Bed without Factory Rail Kit. The difference between them is that kit # RP56001-53 is an outboard kit with longer rails and brackets that install on the outsides of the frame rails, which means a slightly easier/shorter install and a slightly higher price. Installation videos for both kits are linked for you. For a wiring

  • Will Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails # RP56001-53 Work With Reese 5th Wheel Slider # RP30075
  • The two parts you referenced, Reese Quick-Install Custom 5th Wheel Base Rails # RP56001-53 and Reese Sliding Hitch # RP30075, are indeed compatible with one another. The Quick-Install brackets are a correct fit for your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with 6-1/2-foot bed. Sliding hitches are one solution for 5th wheel towing with short-bed trucks like yours to enable low-speed turns. Another option is a replacement pin box, one of the Sidewinder types. Sidewinders replace the standard

  • Will Reese 5th Wheel Install Kit Frame Brackets from 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 Fit a 2016 Silverado
  • The 2015 Chevy Silverado and 2016 Chevy Silverado use the same frame brackets so you can use them on your new truck. But you are not supposed to reuse the hardware because it is meant to be torqued down once. When the hardware is torqued down the bolts stretch so they won't fit the same a second time. For the brackets the hardware is # RP56001F if you have install kit # RP56001-53. And for the rail hardware use # RP58504. I am having the rail hardware added to our site and it can take

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kits for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500
  • I will be happy to make some recommendations for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500. If the truck is a short bed then I recommend custom underbed mount kit # DM8551010 with the 21,000 pound rated auto-sliding HiJacker, # DM8550037. The underbed mount means that the bed will be clear when the hitch is removed for a clean look and a bed free of obstructions. The hitches slide automatically so you won't have to get out of the truck. And they travel 14 inches, the most of any slider we have,

  • Does the Reese Universal 5th Wheel Installation Kit Fit a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 Long Bed Dually
  • The Reese universal 5th wheel installation kit, brackets and hardware only, # RP30439, does fit the 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 long bed. But, if you have the longer Reese rails like the ones in kit # RP56001-53 (the rails are # RP30153) then you cannot reuse them with the universal brackets. When installing the universal kit the distance from the rear edge of the bed forward to the back edge of the rear rail will be 29-3/4 inches. This will put the hitch centerline directly above the

  • Will Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # RP56001-53 Work with Curt Q24 Hitch # C16245
  • The Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # RP56001-53 is a custom-fit kit for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 that requires no drilling into the truck's frame (only the truck bed) since it uses existing holes for its outboard brackets. Outboard brackets make installation easier by giving you better access for your tools; the brackets themselves and the frame mounting points are essentially the same either way so there is no loss of strength. These industry-standard rails are fully compatible
