There isn't a specific place the side hooks have to go on the Thule Gateway trunk mount bike carrier # TH88JV. If they will stay in place lower or higher then it is acceptable to place them there. The side straps help prevent the rack from sliding left or right. There is some trimming required on the 2010 Infiniti G37 coupe to install Curt trailer hitch # C11493. There is an area approximately 1-3/4 inches by 2 inches that will need to be trimmed off the bumper fascia.
