Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Durable Acrylic Enamel Finish

Maxion Wheels Vesper Acrylic Enamel Finish

This wheel has a durable acrylic enamel finish on the front. The finish is applied after the wheel goes through an environmentally safe zinc phosphate pre-treatment and is coated with an e-coat primer layer. Compared to powder coat finishes, this finish resists getting chipped from flying road debris or scraped from hitting a curb for a longer period of time. These acrylic enamel wheels performed for more than 1,000 hours in salt spray tests.

Beveled Stud Holes

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, this deep, rugged tread channels water away so that the tire makes better contact with the road. This greatly improves traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. Because of this, the tire is specifically designed for off-roading on uneven terrain such as mud, sand, and grass, although it performs well on highways and other paved roads as well.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Off Road Tire with Wheel - TA75RR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Taskmaster ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire in a load range D, mounted on this 15 inch Vesper silver modular wheel with the 5 on 4 and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheels assembly's ideal for trailers, off-roading on mud or other uneven terrain. And it can also be used on highways and other paved roads. I did wanna highlight the tread here, which we talk about. Has a nice deep rugged tread.

This'll channel mud and water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. The other nice thing is the tread depth on this measures about 1830 seconds of an inch, which is a pretty deep tread depth. Also what's nice is if you look on the shoulder you can see it has this raised rubber design that goes all along the shoulder to protect it from any damage. And the reason they do that is the shoulder area of your tire is where the most heat will build up and could cause the most problems. And what they've done here besides giving it a nice look to the sidewall, they've built it up with some rubber to also protect that area.

Now this is a radial ply tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester ply for a nice long life. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. And this is an ST tire which stands for Special Trailer Tire. Has the sturdy side walls so they can handle heavy loads and it is created specifically for trailers.

It's not intended for use on any other vehicles. The steel wheel, we zoom in on that. It's a nice sturdy steel wheel has the modular design to it. When we say modular design, that's the one that has these round holes all the way around the wheel. It does use a silver acrylic enamel finish to resist chipping and other damage better than your powder coat finishes.

And the finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pretreatment and then it covers a new coat primer layer. And see the back of the wheel is also protected. This gives you extra corrosion resistance, has a soft spread rating of more than a thousand hours. This assembly does come with a two year platinum plus warranty, which will include emergency tire change service and other benefits. This assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation standards and does exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. Now if you notice, this wheel does not come with the center cap. We do sell those separately if you want one. You do wanna make sure when you buy center cap that you get one that has a diameter of 3.19 inches, and that's the diameter of this pilot hole here. Your cap, when you put your center cap on, it'll go through the back of the wheel and stick out this way. Now the center caps oftentimes we do list them on the wheel as a related product. Few specs on this, the dimension of just the wheel, 15 inch diameter. The width on just the wheel, six inches wide. We mentioned the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4 and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five. You just pick any hole, let's say this one. And then when you measure, you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes. You just pick one. But when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure too. So when you measure it should measure about four and a half inches. And that means this has a bolt pattern of 5 on 4 and a half inches. The wheel lug size it uses is a half inch by 20 and the weight capacity of just the wheel is 2,835 pounds. Now the tire size on this is stamped on it. You can see ST for Special Trailer, 235/75R15. The R means it is a radial tire. Section width is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the very bottom to the very top when it's inflated, is 28.9. This is a load range D tire. That means it's an eight ply rated tire. Does have a maximum load of 2,910 pounds at 65 PSI. And one of the last things I do wanna mention, all the new trailer tires are coming through with speed ratings. And a speed rating is always stamped on the side wall using a letter designation. And where that's at is right after the tire size we went over. You'll see two numbers for the load index and then a letter N. That letter N is a speed rating and it means it has an 87 mile per hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on this Taskmaster ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire in a load range D on the 15 inch Vesper silver modular wheel with the 5 on 4 and a half inch bolt pattern..
