Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Trailer Jack - Side Frame Mount Jack - e34FR

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff 00:00:02 at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this etrailer Square Sidewind Two-Speed Jack with the spring return drop leg and a 10,000 pound lift capacity. Now, this is a nice heavy duty two-speed utility jack, this will let you raise or lower your trailer, has a high gear over here that will provide ultimate speed and over here, if you put the handle over here and crank it, it's a low gear so it gives you full lifting power. Now, the screw travel, in other words, if you crank this all the way out, the total screw travel is 12 and a half inches. The drop leg, which you can see I have fully extended, has a nice spring return, which increases overall extension for maximum adjustability. Basically, this plunger pin right here at the front, if you pull it out, it's spring-loaded and then you twist it to the side, it'll hold it in the open position and then you can adjust the drop leg or whatever height you want, once you get it in the right position, just twist that and it'll lock it into position. The adjustment hole spacing on this drop leg, you can see the large holes here, from center to center, it's about four inches, so you'll have increments of four inches to change whatever height you need for your application.

Total lift on this is 25 and a half inches. And what that is is the screw travel we mentioned, inaudible 00:01:14 as much as you can crank it is 12 and a half inches. The drop leg travel is 13 inches, so that gives you your total lift of 25 and a half inches. And you can see when you take your handle, just slide it in and then you can go ahead and crank it.And if you crank it clockwise, just like that, that'll lower it, if you go counterclockwise, that'll raise the jack up. And again, clockwise will lower it.

Now, they do use a nice durable one and a quarter inch diameter jack screw on the inside, it allows for nice heavy lifting. They do use twin thrust bearings that make extending and retracting the jack very easy, and you can actually maintain those bearings very easily by using these grease zerk fittings that are here on the outside, if you just put your grease gun onto that, pump the grease in there, that will lubricate the bearings on the inside. This does have a nice black powder coat finish on the inner and the outer tubes. The sidewind handle here has the nice curved edges, so there's no sharp ends. You can see when you're not cranking, just release it so it stores. The footplate on this is a very large foot plate, it's a nine inch by nine inch size foot plate that'll minimize sinking in any soft ground and the jack is a weld-on installation.A few measurements on this.

The height from the bottom of the foot to the top of the jack when it's fully retracted, it's not extended out at all, is going to be 28 and a half inches, if he add the total lift, in other words, total drop leg and screw it all the way open, the total extended height is going to be 54 inches. That's basically the 28 and a half retracted, with the lift of 25 and a half total, gives you 54 inch extended.Lift capacity on this is 10,000 pounds, support capacity is 12,000 pounds. The outer tube width is going to be four inches, inner tube width is three and a quarter inches. Again, over here would be your low gear, over here will be your high gear. Here's your plunger pin in the front that you can pull it to activate your drop leg in whatever position you need and then twist it back into the lock position.

But that should do it for the review on the etrailer Square Sidewind Two-Speed Jack with the spring return drop leg and a 10,000 pound lift capacity.

Had issues with one jack purchased. Worked with Roger on a broken shaft. Sent great pictures and was told that I did not need to ship actual jack back(it was back East and my customer was hot because it had broken and felt that having to ship a broken jack was too much at that time)I sent my customer a new jack and made them happy and continued to work with Cruz on replacement. I was told it was out of stock and when back in stock that they would replace it.Six months later and three new representatives I was told that they now needed the old jack before anything was done.(my customer disposed of it 4 months ago) I think Cruz must be gone, now Amy is representative giving me the run around. I would warn anyone against purchasing anything from them. No customer service was given, just song and dance and warranty blah blah.

Wish I would have upgraded sooner, is the first thing that comes to mind. The original equipment jack should be against the law of building trailers. I've never owned a trailer from a company that installs a jack long enough to reach the ground and lift the trailer off the ball, without having to use a block of some sort. This solves that issue! The drop leg alone gets you within an inch or two of where you'll start winding the jack to lift it off the ball. The side handle location is better in my opinion, and this has a grease fitting for maintenance. When installing, I had to turn the round hole into a square hole using my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, maybe took 20 minutes to lay out the cut lines, make the cuts, and finish up with a file to smooth the edges. You will have to re-locate the 2 rear holes of the jack when mounting as they don't line up with the original ones. This is no big deal though, and even though the metal I was drilling through was pretty thick, if you'll put a few drops of oil in the spot you're drilling and then re-apply once or twice while drilling, this part will go quickly and easily and you won't burn your drill bit up. Don't forget the original equipment bolts are threaded, so you'll need some bolts, washers and nuts once you drill the 2 rear holes, unless you have the tools to thread them. I hope those few humble suggestions help anyone considering buying this. I couldn't be happier, and I"ll be buying another for my smaller trailer, even though this is rated for way more than it can haul. Worth every penny, don't hesitate to buy.

I do repair work and put this jack on a farm trailer. the owner loves it. Doesn't sway or twist under load.

by:

The jacks seems to be holding up, i use them as downriggers for my service truck crane. Only gave 3 stars because one of the feet on the jacks came bent and etrailer offered to send me a new jack at over $[XX] shipping or some casy back. So i took the $[XX] cash back for my 300$ jack.

by:

Very good mechanism and easy to lift trailer loaded! Keep it greased that’s all.

by:

If you want quality products with great service at fair prices, then Etrailer is the place you are looking for. This is not my first purchase from them and it has been great every time.

by:

Great jack fit a worked as advertised. Service and shipping was fast

by:

Was having issues with the trailer lifting the backend of my truck when I loaded tractors. When I would drive the tractor on the back of the trailer would go down from the weight on the rear which caused the front of the trailer to lift the backend of my truck. So, I bought a couple of the Square, Pipe Mount, Swivel Jacks with Footplates and a Drop Leg. They are Topwind, 7K, Jacks. I had them welded on. This should stop the issue I'm having. I know the 7K was a little over kill but the price was great.

by:

These jacks work great on our cable reel trailers we make here at Utiliquip. They weld on easily and can usually be repaired when someone drives away with the jack down or catches the handle on something and bends it. We use them as stabilizer jacks on our 14000lb GVWR trailer and they work gret!

by:

It has been fantastic so far. I installed it as a replacement for the jack on the front of my 10k equipment trailer after the handle on the original jack broke off. I wish I had ripped the old jack off the day I bought the trailer and put this on in its place. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to use, especially when the trailer is loaded.

No one can match your customer service.you have won me over . But you may want to get with your shipper about damage. The pictures are of the replacement damage box. But this time the part was not damaged.I will order from you in the future.
