Video Transcript for Review of Bulldog Trailer Jack - Side Frame Mount Jack - BD180304

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Bulldog Topwind Square Jack with the drop leg, has a 7,200 pound lift capacity. Now, this is a nice heavy-duty square jack, it's smaller than your typical large capacity jacks, and it's perfect for tight fitting applications. It is a nice, durable, heavy-gauge construction, so it'll let you direct weld mount to your trailer without any burn through, gives you superior side-load capacity compared with any round jacks, and the outer and inner tubes will overlap for additional strength even when the jack is fully extended. The square design will provide additional support for any side loading, and the tubing width on this is three inches. This does give you long bearing and gear life with an oil-impregnated bushing.

Has a nice weather resistant coating on the outer tube and a zinc inner tube. Right at the very top there's a screw nut, it's a screw nut stop that'll prevent damage to the screw and the nut when the Jack is fully extended. So basically, when you open this up and just start cranking it, you can see just like that, it'll get you a total travel of about 10 inches. As you can see it is a topwind handle, has a nice smooth ergonomic design for easy cranking, does include the bushing we mentioned in the top cap, and if you noticed, the knob on this is a nice eagle claw grip knob, let you hold onto it nice. The handle radius from here to here is about 12 inches.

And then for storage, you can just flip it back down. Now, the drop leg, I wanna zoom in on the drop leg right down here at the bottom, this will increase overall extension for maximum adjustability. Basically, this large pin here, when you pull it, it'll give you an extension of 10 1/8 inches. Basically, what you can do, right over here if you take the pin out, once you take the pin to release it, and then you just pull the larger pin out just like that. You'll be able to see that this will extend, has different settings you can set the set.

Total extra extension's about 10 1/8 inches. So once you find it in the position you need, put the pin back through the hole, swing the other pin around, line it up to the hole over here, and then clip it closed, and you're all ready to go. It is a heavy-duty foot plate, has reinforcement ribs for increased strength and zero water retention. The measurement on the foot plate is about 8 1/2 inches this way by eight inches this way. Now, we did mentioned, it is a direct-weld designed, so you can directly weld it to your trailer without having it burn through.

The bracket height, right now, when it's fully retracted, the position it's in is 18 3/16 inches, fully extended is 38 5/16 inches, so that's giving you a total lift of 20 1/8 inches, and what that is is the combined lift of the travel we mentioned of 10 inches and the drop leg travel of 10 1/8 inches. The lift capacity again is 7,200 pounds, the static capacity is 10,000 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this Bulldog Topwind Square Jack with the drop leg..

I didn't measure the old one bulldog product but was more large the leg when retracted, the new one is little short so just was positioning on the best way and fully disengage and welded and tested and just work fine. Thank you.

Have made multiple orders, fast turnaround. Free shipping. Will continue to make purchases.

Jacks are strong and it is exactly what I need for my equipment

by:

by:

we use these on all our 14K trailers that come with smaller jacks. the large drop foot makes them super stable, and work well on the sandy soil in our area.

by:

I wanted something that would be strong and hold up over time. This Jack is used to support my stainless steel 6 hole dog trailer with my side X side loaded on the back. So it’s not light. I tend to do things by overkill but with this bulldog Jack it perfect for the job! Did some fabrication on making the mounting plates and fitting it in just right. A little taping it off and painting to match the trailer. I would highly recommend using this Jack and using Etrailer for all your needs!

Good product. Good easy to use website

by:

It seems odd that it came with no instructions and there are no installation instructions on either the etrailer site or on the BullDog (Cequent) site. I have not had it welded on yet, but figured it will be less risky to weld it with it disassembled so that is what I have done.

I got the top wind unit this time because my last one was a Fulton with a side wind and the bevel gear broke and is no longer available, necessitating its replacement. I figure a top wind has one less thing to go wrong.

by:

Fast and correct

by:

Best trailer jack i ever bought for our trailer smooth operating easy to weld in place.

by:

Great product... It the Bulldog quality we always expect... Awesome..

by:

Awesome jack, perfect for my trailer

by:

Only thing I would change on this jack would be to shorten the the handle a bit.

by:

All the products I have bought through etrailer have been awesome but above that their service is what sells me! Thanks for the great service and products!

by:

Works great unloaded. With any load it bogs down. A side wind might work better, as the longer radius of the top wind seemingly requires more effort.

by:

Jack works great. Fast shipping.

by:

Strong jack, heavy. Real easy to weld

by:

I still haven't received the product yet so it would be a 1 star review.

by:

It works as expected

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Light Malfunctions - Running Lights Not Working
If the turn signals are working properly, but the running lights aren't it could be a short, blown fuse or a ground problem. I would first test the trailer connector on the truck. After that I would check for blown fuses. Next I would check to see if the ground wire on the trailer is grounded to an appropriate metal surface and not aluminum. You may need to run a jumper wire to a better grounding metal surface. Boat trailers are often equipped with fold away tongues, this may also be...

If you have the Bulldog sidewind trailer jack # BD180455, then you can replace the sidewind assembly with part # BD800144. It will include the handle, gear and bushing kit. For the Bulldog square top wind jack # BD180354 or # BD180304, the replacement topwind handle is # BD500344. It will include the crank, bolt and nut. • Can a 10K Bulldog Drop Leg Trailer Jack be Trimmed to be Shorter
The issue is that there is a screw inside the jack that turns in either direct to raise or lower the jack. It threads through a fixed nut. At the very top of the screw the threads are all mashed up so that the leg can't just fall out. Basically there isn't a way to take the legs out without having to cut open the jack and then it is pretty much useless because it will have lost its capacity. Could you go with a 7,200 pound jack? Drop leg jack # BD180354 is rated for 7,200 pounds at will...

  • How is the Bulldog Jack part # BD180304 Lubricated
Actually the Bulldog Jack part # BD180304 does not have a zerk fitting but I can tell you how Bulldog recommend you lube this jack. Bulldog recommends you apply a lightweight oil to the screw stem like in the picture I attached.
