Excellent kit most of all it came with hardware that made it easy to install all equipment was included and itā€™s a strong system. As a professional and budget person this was hands down a perfect choice.

It was easy to install. The video helped tremendously. My only complaint would be the packaging. The hitch arrived undamaged. However, it was not secured in the box it was shipped in and there were several holes where the hitch had poked through.

Excellent customer service & support! Bought for my 2013 Honda Fit and plan to trailer my Yamaha Tenere motorcycle around North America! Very happy with hitch.

Installation not as easy as claimed! The instructions stated to create a hole with 2 buttons on each end to mount the driver side attach point on the bumper bracket. The hole size described is not adequate at all. There is no way such a small hole could allow the large pan head of the carriage bolt to be inserted. I'm very mechanically able, and found the only way to insert the bolt was to create a much larger hole, nearly half the size of the bolt head. I investigated the hole farther front on the frame rail, but is too small as well, and the hole from the frame rail to the rear bumper bracket, which is nearly impossible to see, feels like it's also not fully circular and likely too small also. I was puzzled by the inside plates, as there seems to be no way of keeping them from rotating as the bolts are tightened. I've put hitches on 2 other cars and the plates were positioned to not rotate - though given the large size of the inside of the bracket where they go, I'm not sure I could have thought of a better alternate design. All in all, this install took nearly 3 hours, with the car on a lift, and again I'm very able to work on vehicles and have a wide array of tools to use. I wasn't going to just hammer the bolt into the tiny slot and deform the metal or bolt. I'm curious how others attached it so quickly. The negatives for my review are only for the installation process or instructions. The build quality of the hitch is good and sturdy, the hardware appears of good quality, and I'm happy with the design.

Depending on the frame of the 2010 Honda Fit you may need to make the holes bigger to the hardware. I recommend taking a look at our video install on a 2012 Honda Fit especially at time stamp 0.37 and time stamp 1.48.

Fast shipping, sturdy product, and all the necessary parts arrived. Really loved the service and installation videos. They made it easy to install. A friend and I installed the hitch in about 30 minutes.

Ive attached a bunch of additional photos. Basically, theres a section back in the bumper that has plenty of space to fish the bolt and flange through without cutting a large hole in the frame. All you have to cut is a circular hole big enough for the bolt itself not the head.

Thanks for all the extra photos!

The trailer hitch receiver itself is fine, but the advertising on the website stated that it would fit a Honda Fit. Unfortunately, this is not true. My mechanic had to modify and bend the trailer hitch receiver to get it to fit on my Honda Fit.

If you are having troubles with the holes not lining up, it could be that the hitch has been flexed during shipment. This is common amongst hitches, since the mounting brackets are made from a mild steel that allows the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. If the entire hitch was made of rigid steel, there would be a greater chance of the hitch being damaged and experiencing stress cracks. Such cracks could cause the hitch to malfunction. This flexing often times will cause the holes not to align. Because of this we do have a help article I have the link attached below that will walk you through the process of straightening the hitch.

etrailer always does a great job! The order process is great, received a confirmation of the order, then Carol C followed up after the item had been delivered, she even included a link to and install video. The hitch we ordered came with some great parts, bolts with wings so you could easily sneak the bolts into a tight place. Another feature that looks like a spring / wire that wraps around the bolt, which makes it easy to install as there is no access from above, what a great idea!!!

It's unobtrusive and it holds my bike rack securely, even with a 55-lb e-bike.

It continued to work great up to the time I traded in my car for new wheels a little over a month ago. Once my budget recovers from the purchase, Ill be looking for a new hitch.

by:
2010 Honda Fit

Holy fast shipping! The hitch arrived to my door step super quick - way earlier than anticipated. Install was simple - a few basic tools - drill, files, dremel and a socket wrench and about 45 mins of my time.

by:

The part was delivered quickly and fit the car perfectly. We use it for the bike hauler.

by:
2012 Honda Fit

Hitch was delivered in a box that was much too large and the hitch put a hole in the side from moving around. Etrailer needs to do better.
The Curt hitch is well made everything lined up where it was supposed to, but the Handle Nuts are total garbage. The tack welds broke on both nuts before I even reached 40ft/lbs of torque. So beware before you buy

Solid product. I wasn't sure about a hitch on the Fit which is such a light car, but it works fine. I've towed a light trailer with motorcycles from 300 to 500 Lbs on the back and the hitch has worked perfectly and the car worked better than expected.

The installation video was also excellent. I'm willing to tear into any mechanical project anyway, but the videos identified all the hidden fasteners and made the project extra easy.

This is a high quality made in the US hitch. Ordered for and installed on my 2011 Honda Fit. I like the design vastly better than the design of the one that goes over/around the muffler. Installation was a straightforward albeit laborious process. Per the installation video, you need to lift the hitch into place, mark the drill hole, drop the hitch, drill the hole, and reinstall it. Not a big deal but it gets a little tiring manhandling the thing. Based on where the drill hole lined up on mine, it made sense to swap a couple of the square hole spacers vs what the instructions required. Not a big deal.

Installed, the hitch looks great and already had no problems hauling a couple mountain bikes on a 1up rack up to the mountains and back.

etrailer sure has made a fan out of me! The customer service has been fantastic - very friendly and helpful. The Curt receiver hitch I've installed on my Honda Fit is clearly top-notch hardware, and the instructional video made installation a snap. Many thanks!

We had an issue with the spacer on the passenger side - it would fully rotate up inside the frame rail when we put the nut on the bolt and we could not tighten it at first. We drilled a small hole next to the bottom spacer and stuck a old drill bit into the hole to prevent the other spacer from rotating (it bent the bit, so don't do this with one you value). This let us torque it to the proper tightness. Did not have this problem with the other bolts.

On the driver side of our Fit (a 2010 Sport), the frame rail is open off to the side and behind where you drill, so you can fish the wire, spacer, and bolt into place with just the 17/32" hole - I happened to catch this in a couple reviews so I checked. There is no need to make an oblong hole at least for this year/model. You just need to get the wire started into the hole from above, then you can pull it all into place. I could not find a 17/32" drill bit locally, so I used a 1/2" bit and reamed it out with a Dremel and a conical stone. The 1/2" hole will accomodate the bolt but not with the fish wire on it.

A couple extra of the fish wires would be nice - I mangled one trying to work around it to get the nut started. We screwed the fish wire about halfway up the bolt, then bent it sideways so we could start the nut with the wire still attached to keep the bolt from going back up into the frame rail. I don't think this was the right way to do this but it worked.

My son and I were about 90 minutes getting this on. We had a couple of false start because of getting the wrong spacer put in the driver side and it took a while to get it back out. Some additional clarity in the Curt instructions would be helpful - they tried too hard to get it all jammed onto one page. Additional diagrams to show the parts order and orientation would be helpful.

That said, the hitch is of good quality and seems well-mounted to the car. Better instructions would make it a 5-star experience. I might have been able to resolve some of these things by stopping in the middle of the install and doing some searches on my laptop, but a proper set of instructions that I can refer to while I'm still half under the car is the right thing for the manufacturer to do.

The etrailer buying experience was great, and their resources and reviews gave me confidence going into the install. If I ever need another hitch I'll be back here.

This is the third "Curt" product I have purchased from Etrailer. I purchased it for bike rack use. Just like my other "Curt" hitches it is extremely well made. I find that these quality hitches are dependable when towing my trailer or a vehicle behind my RV. I recommend highly!

by:
2010 Honda Fit

Very happy with my hitch! The install was way easier than I thought it would be, and I pull my trailer around with it all the time. No problems at all. It also looks way better than other hitches I have seen on the same car.

by:

Product arrived OK, but only because it is thick steel. It had broke through the cardboard shipping box in two places. But no damage done to hitch.

It went in pretty easy. The video was a great help. I didn't have a helper, so I used a hydraulic car jack as my third hand. A bit awkward, but it went OK.

Maybe 3 hours including gathering tools, jacking the car, and one trip to parts store for LocTite (Loctite is not called for in instructions, but seemed like a good idea.), and clean-up.

Overall- quite satisfied.

by:

The Curt receiver is a fine product, but it is, as most of us suspect, significantly harder to install than presented, especially since most of us do not have a car lift! Removing the trim to drill the left side was very difficult, as the trim buttons were very well installed! But I could then peel back the left trim piece so that I only had to remove one of the several trim things. I used a small car jack to keep the hitch raised to the vehicle while I lined things up. I say this because there's really no way for you to get a second hand to help you, unless you again have a car lift. Anyway, it took me about two hours to complete, but the hitch seems very strong, and is quite attractive.

When I started researching where and exactly what kind of trailer hitch I needed, etrailer stood out as the clear 1st choice. I was able to find and watch a video that showed exactly how to install. The video also informed me that I'd need to bore only 1 of the 4 holes on my Honda Fit, so I got my drill and bit ready in advance which was a time saver. The ordering process was easy and the model was very clear that it was the right hitch. The service department sent me emails letting me know the status of my order. It arrived promptly and had every part I needed including some specialized mounting tools that made the job doable and easy. There were no surprises when I attached my trailer. I'm very busy but wanted to take the time to say thanks for a great product and service and to let others know too. Also, etrailer with your support, you really made me look like I knew what I was doing when my wife seen the results! LOL!

THANK YOU ETRAILER!

The product works. MIght want to throw some paint on the exposed metal after you drill the hole. Had issue with the spot welds failing on the handle nuts while tightening, preventing proper installation. E-Trailer had Curt send me replacements, no hassle, and then followed up to make sure I recieved them.

The install video was very helpful. The hitch has worked with no issues and seems to be built well

by:
2011 Honda Fit

Easy to install on 2011 Fit, finished in about 1.5 hours. A 2nd hand helps but I was able to do it myself. Use car ramps if you've got em. Does require drilling one 17/32" hole into the driver side frame rail; a step drill bit made things easy. Install the hitch with the 3 bolts first so that the 4th hole can be marked and then remove the hitch again for drilling. Used some paint to cover the hole so it doesn't rust. Also the instructions recommend to cut notches on both sides of the hole to fit the plate. I found unnecessary as I was able to slide the plate in thru the side of the frame rail (YMMV).

This hitch also stays far away from moving parts like the exhaust so there are no annoying rattles. Very happy overall A+

by:
2010 Honda Fit

The hitch fit perfectly. I was able to do it all by myself without jacking up the car. It would have been a whole lot easier if I had the tools to Jack it up as well as an extra set of hands but it is very doable without. I just used a block I had lying around to hold the hitch up for me a few times. The video walks you through the process perfectly. Great service overall.
