Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Easy install. I had no issues adding to a 2012 Toyota Highlander. Did it by myself in a couple hours tops, but a helper for 5 minutes could have made it smoother.

by:
2011 Toyota Highlander

Pro: Product fit nicely and was easy to install

Con: Shipping box was not damaged but the paint on the hitch was chipped off in several places. Customer service offered to reimburse me $10 for some Rust-Oleum that I could purchase and spray paint it myself. Ummm, no thank you. They then asked if they could send a replacement and then I would send the other damaged one back. I needed to get this on my car as I was picking up a trailer this weekend. I asked if they would agree to reduce the price and give me a refund, which they did.
The 3 stars are for paint chips. I would have given it 5 if not for that. Customer service was GREAT (already received my refund in 2 days), and the product as a whole is nice. I will spray paint it this weekend.

2008 Toyota Highlander

I ordered the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2008 Toyota Highlander for the purpose of attaching a Thule bike rack. I wanted something that was reasonably priced, easy to install, sturdy enough to haul 4 bikes, and looked nice on my vehicle. I'm giving 5 stars because this product definitely hit all of these. Before installing I watched the installation video which was well done and very helpful. I was able to install the hitch receiver in about 45 minutes. I'll give the disclaimer that I installed this all by myself with the aid of a low profile dolly. Otherwise it's definitely a two person job because of the weight factor.

First of all sorry for the late reply. It was my pleasure to write a review a year ago as the Trailer Hitch checked a lot of boxes for me. It was reasonably priced, easy to install, and designed with quality. I havent had any problems, and it has definitely made hauling bicycles for my family a lot easier!

by:

Very easy to install with 2 people. I didn’t discard the plastic mud shields on the vehicle as instructed, but cut them fit with the receiver.

by:

It is my pleasure to RECOMMEND etrailer.com Fast delivery easy installation instructions and fit perfect. I did it by my self!

Love the fast shipping, easy to install by myself with a car jack on one side and lift up the other end... Solid product, would buy it again...

by:

Great fit installation was a breeze it took me a bit longer to install because instead of eliminating the plastic covers as suggested by even the manufacturer I modified the drivers side and didn`t have to remove the passenger side at all.

by:
2013 Toyota Highlander

While installation was simple and straightforward, I am pretty disappointed with the fit relative to the spare (17") on my '13 Highlander. The spare is difficult to raise back up and secure with this hitch. Even with one person raising it and another guiding it, it can't go all the way back up to rest against the frame cushions for it. I had installed a OEM Toyota hitch on my '10 Highlander, which installation was the same, but the fit around the body and spare was much better. Overall I would say if you are a fanatic about fit and the little things, spend the extra money for the Toyota. If you are OK with the fact it works but may not be exact, go for it.

After a year I am happy with the product. Same issue from when I installed it exists, the one time I had to use the spare, it is a bit of a puzzle to get it back just right. I am also surprised after the winter to see a few spots of paint chipping off and rust peeking through.

2011 Toyota Highlander

Sorry no picture, however, the Trailer Hitch went in just as you explained. I wish all after market and add-on products were so good and easy to install.
Perhaps you will set the bar for others to attempt to reach, good heavy duty hitch I'm sure it will be great.

What you are doing is good business my friend, keep it up. Both hitch and wiring are great, use them six to 10 times per year without issues. What I need to find is something to cover or into the hitch opening the square opening is nice and clean however, a nice cover would be cool.Know where I can get one?Anyway, great products, great service and thanks again for checking back.

Glad to hear the hitch is holding up well. We've got a whole bunch of hitch covers and plugs that will fit your 2 inch hitch. Check out the link!

Was excited to get my hitch so quickly and I was able to install it in no time flat! Really appreciated the instructional video - it was a great help in making my decision. It was a great value for the money. I saved another $180 buy buying it from you and installing it myself.
I can't wait to load up my bike and hit the trails.

I get a lot of use out of the hitch. Not only do I use it for my bike rack, but I also bought a hitch basket for hauling extra stuff while on vacation. The extra space in the car that I gain alone makes the hitch a great investment!

by:
2012 Toyota Highlander

I have purchased hitches in the past and they have not weathered well. They were powered coated and peeled, exhibiting poor adhesion to the base metal. However your e-Trailer hitch seem to be superior. Time will only tell. I found the hitch is attractive looking and installed easily. Thank you for inquiry.

by:
2012 Toyota Highlander

This thing is nicely designed but it is also designed apparently for cars with a spare tire that hangs off the back. For my 2012 Toyota Highlander this thing sticks out very far. It looks quite ridiculous. It appears the manufacturer does not offer a remedy for this. I am going to have to work with the guys at the shop to cut Weld and fabricate a shorter version of this crazy thing.

These hitches are not meant to be cut down and re-welded. They are designed to be bolted in place without modifications. We do offer another hitch that does not stick out from the rear of your Highlander as much and that is part 75726. This hitch profile has the center of the hitch pin hole that is flush with the outside of your Highlander, as can be seen in the installation video that I have included.

by:

We have had our trailer hitch for a year now so we could use it for our bike rack. So glad I saved money getting it here. Not a single issue and was easy for my mechanic to install (charged me like 20 bucks).

by:

The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the trailer hitch moves around in my 2 inch tow hitch and it makes noise. I feel like the trailer hitch could come off eventhoug it never has.. I think there needs to be a spacer of some kind to keep the hitch more snuff

by:

Everything works as described. No problems at all. We love our hitch receiver and wiring harness and have used them about weekly for the last year.

2013 Toyota Highlander

The trailer hitch came delivered to my house by the carrier without a box around it which I assume is why it has many areas of damaged paint and the contact points to the vehicle frame were bent. It was literally shipped by itself with nothing protecting it. I did not have time to tell etrailer about it and get a replacement because my family and I are moving soon. I used a hand sledge to beat the hitch wings back into place.

After trying several times to match up the two hitch wings with their respective frame bolt holes (which took several evolutions of removing and beating and back again) I got it to fit snugly. The end result is a sturdy trailer hitch that came with easy directions and fast shipping but now has many dents in it due to my adjustments and of course the chipped paint from shipping without a box.

I have ordered from etrailer in the past and had great results. Maybe QC isn't so great as it used to be. I will still order from etrailer in the future because I believe this to be a singular occasion and is unlike them. I really love that they have installation videos for every single model- it makes it so simple for us normal people.

Wonderful, amazing service. This is the BEST online service that I have ever experienced. This hitch was easy as pie to put on. It was shipped and arrived to me in just a few days. Great e-mail communication from etrailer. My wife and I put this on our 2011 highlander in just a few hours. I am 100% satisfied with both the hitch and the etrailer service.

by:

Excellent experience. Website is accurate and easy to navigate. Every step of the process was timely and occurred as planned. Ordered and delivered in 5 days. Installation videos are very helpful and take the mystery out of the task. Overall etrailer.com saved me a couple of hundred dollars over some the local quotes I received for the hitch. Will not hesitate to use this site for my next purchase.

by:

I received my shipment a few days ago, the box was pretty damaged but after opening my package. It revealed nothing missing, all the screws were cleverly packed in the receiver slot so I was relived, after inspecting the hitch its seam to be in pretty good shape, I would recommend using another shipper/using foam wrapping around the corners of the hitches when packed. I have no complaints other than the shipping my package was in excellent condition and I can't wait to install it next weekend, and put it in use.

I couldn't be happier with the installation of my hitch and brake controller for my 2011 Toyota Highlander. I had the pre wired harness, but that doesn't mean much. If you are trying to decide what you need to buy to install a hitch and brake controller on your car, here are the product #'s I ordered:

I used all of the parts, and installation was very clean!

2011 Toyota Highlander

Great service from etrailer, product shipped in a flash. It arrived in great condition ready to install. Installation rating of 4/10 was right on the money, very easy overall. If you have a 2011 Highlander, this is a great solution for you. My 14-year old son and I installed in 45 minutes with ease. Some trimming of the plastic underbody covers on both sides, but my son did a great job on those with his pocket knife. It's that easy!

Let's see, the dealer wants $1,200 and we did it for much less. Pretty simple decision.

Quick shipping and outstanding information on installation. I couldn't be happier with. My purchase!

Hi Patrick, love the hitch, I ordered another for my wife a few months ago as well. Love your company and youll be the first stop when I need anything.

by:

The hitch fit perfectly. I am no mechanic, but installation was simple. Thank you for the video tutorials that go along with the product. It's nice to watch a video of an actual match to the vehicle you are working on. Great product and quick shipping. A+ business.

2008 Toyota Highlander

I ordered the tow hitch and a 4-bike carrier indicated above for my '08 Highlander and have been very satisified with both purchases. I ordered at 2:45pm on Friday and received the products on Tuesday morning of that next week. Just 3 business days and the shipping was FREE! Just like indicated on the Etrailer website, the tow hitch was indeed specifically machined for my vehicle...in fact it took my wife and I just 20 mins to hold the hitch and tighten the 6 bolts to the chasis. It took me longer to figure out how to get the leverage to remove the bolts holding my factory tow hooks! Great product, fast-free delivery and easy installation....way-to-go Etrailer!

  • What are the Torque Ratings for a Hitch Installed on a 2008 Toyota Highlander
Though it will depend on the hitch you have installed, all of the M10 bolts for the Draw-Tite # 75726 and 75586 should be torqued to 42 lb-ft. The Curt # 13534, which also uses M10 bolts, should be torqued to 48 lb-ft. If you installed an EcoHitch, like # 306-X7137, the M10 bolts should be torqued to 60 lb-ft. This should be checked every now and then to make sure everything is secure. I generally recommend doing so at the beginning and end of the towing season.

  • Fit of Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch 75586 on a 2010 Toyota Highlander
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75586 would fit very snugly against your vehicle frame, as the mounting fasteners are installed and then torqued down to 42ft-lbs. You may find, however, that some accessories will fit snugly and others will fit more loosely in the hitch receiver. Small variances in paint and manufacturing tolerances can cause the same accessory to fit different hitches different ways. If you do find you have some rattle, you can remedy this by installing an anti-rattle device...

It will not fit your vehicle if your vehicle has a 19 inch spare tire or larger. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Hidden Hitch.
