Fit of Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch 75586 on a 2010 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Does the receiver fit tight enough to prevent movement and banging?

Expert Reply:
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75586 would fit very snugly against your vehicle frame, as the mounting fasteners are installed and then torqued down to 42ft-lbs. You may find, however, that some accessories will fit snugly and others will fit more loosely in the hitch receiver. Small variances in paint and manufacturing tolerances can cause the same accessory to fit different hitches different ways.
If you do find you have some rattle, you can remedy this by installing an anti-rattle device like part # RM-061, which is installed around the shank of the 2 inch hitch accessory. If the accessory has a hollow shank, you could also use a combination anti-rattle and hitch lock like part # SR25219.
If you are towing a trailer, you will additionally need wiring, a ball mount, hitch pin or lock, and hitch ball. To wire your 2010 Toyota Highlander, you would use custom-fit T-One wiring harness # 118449.
The recommended ball mount for your vehicle would be part # 2923. This would put the hitch ball at the most common trailer height, but you could also measure to determine whether this would be compatible with your particular trailer. Measure from the ground to a point just below your vehicle bumper, and then measure from the ground to the flat bottom of the trailer coupler, with the trailer sitting level. The difference between these two measurements would be the rise or drop you need your ball mount to have. I am including a link to the rest of the ball mounts we offer for 2 inch hitches.
You could secure the ball mount using the # SR25219 anti-rattle hitch lock. For a 2 inch diameter hitch ball, you would use part # 19247, or part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball.
I am including some additional information on the trailer hitch installation and general towing, as well as some videos and instructions for the other items I have suggested.
