Clearance When Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Rack is Folded Up On 2008 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I would like to know if there is enough clearance to fold up the Sport Rider 4 bike rack #HR1400 on a 2008, Toyota, Highlander non hybrid and drive around town without it scratching the back of the vehicle.

The clearance at the rear of your vehicle will depend on the distance needed from your trailer hitch to clear the rear bumper of your 2008 Highlander. The Curt trailer hitch # 13534 requires approximately 3 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to clear the rear bumper.
The Draw-Tite trailer hitches # 75726, # 75586 have their hitch pin holes approximately even with the rear bumper, and the front of the receiver sits approximately 2-1/2 inches away from the rear of the bumper.
When the rack is folded, there is approximately 6 inches of clearance from the front of the hitch receiver to the closest part of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z. With the trailer hitches for the 2008 Toyota Highlander sitting so close to the end of the bumper, I don't see that there would be an issue with the rack folded up.
