Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2010 Toyota Yaris

I couldn't beat the price on this trailer hitch. Ordering the part on the website was easy. Shipping was within the expected time of arrival. The hitch arrived well packaged at my front door. The hitch itself looks and feels quality made. Installation took me by myself about 2 hours to complete. I do advise that removing the rear bumper makes installation of the hitch A LOT easier.
Overall, 5 stars all around.

by:

Mostly easy to install on a hatchback Yaris. The upper bolts are in a tight area so you'll need a short ratchet or one with a higher tooth count since you will only have 10-20 degrees of movement on your ratchet. Everything else is fine. Good positioning and low visibility.

by:

Used this for a year with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Good value, installation was about as easy as you can expect (expect that you’ll need to get down there and do some fiddling; having an extra hand will help, as with any install). etrailer is the best place to buy hitch stuff because of reviews and model-specific info!

by:
2007 Toyota Yaris

This works great. The install is pretty straight forward, though 30 minutes may be fairly optimistic. I tried to do it without pulling the bumper cover off. It took forever to get the bolts out, then I could only get 2 back in with the hitch receiver in place.. I pulled the bumper cover and bumper (which took less time than to get the bolts out) and it was done in 3 minutes. I would recommend pulling the cover off, and you'll spend more time pulling the cover off than anything else, and you'll be done in 30 minutes.

So far it works great!

I checked into Jim's order and his cargo carrier featured in his photo is the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145. He also provided a review of his cargo carrier that I have linked for you as well.

Very hard to install. Barely any room to get to the upper bolts. Haven’t been able to finish installing due to lack of room to get the Upper bolts in place. Otherwise looks solidly built and of good quality.

Honda Element

Trailer Hitch for the Yaris. Once again the hitch folks have done an exemplary job in designing a product that is functional and tucks nicely up into the car. The only element visible and exposed is the diminutive hitch receiver. Installation was very straight forward and relatively easy. I took me about an hour to install the hitch because the space in the back of the Yaris is quite cramped (as one can imagine for a sub-compact car). My only recommendation to the trailer hitch folks would be to off-set the bracket from the transverse bar another degree of so to accommodate a little more rotation when using a box wrench to tighten the top bolt on the bracket. The area was too constricted to use my socket wrench and the space had barely enough room for a single swing of the box wrench. This was a bit frustrating as it sometimes required replacing the wrench in the last position to make that last fraction of a turn to assure that bolt had rotated far enough to the wrench would engage for the next turn. Small hands would be a big advantage for this installation.
The E-Trailer folks were great too. The product arrived before the scheduled delivery date. I would highly recommend both this hitch product and the service of E-Trailer.

2011 Toyota Yaris

I've had this hitch on my 2011 Yaris for a year now. It's held a hitch basket holding a 6 person tent, 60lb deep cycle battery, bag of tools, and an air mattress for about 8,000 miles across 24 states. It is damn strong and very reliable. Worth every penny! It was a pain to install but that's because I didn't have the right wrench for the tight space to reach the bolts.

by:

easy installation and now i can tow my raptor. a little bit heavy for my yaris so I just drive slower.

by:
2011 Toyota Yaris

Nice product. Installation was reasonably easy but space is tight when you install the top bolts. The nice part is that the only thing visible is the receiver in the middle, no big bar hanging down. I bought this to use with a hitch type bicycle carrier so I don't know how difficult wiring would be.

by:

The hitch fits perfect; easy to install; with the right tools it takes about 30 minutes to install it. Now I can use my new bike rack.

by:
Toyota Yaris

Was a little more difficult to put in than I expected from the instructions but that was just because the Yaris is a small car and you have to work in tight spaces. The two lower bolts go in very easily but the two upper bolts are where the tight space restriction comes in.

by:
2010 Toyota Yaris

It fit perfectly to my 2010 Toyota Yaris and we installed it in only 30 minutes. The video etrailer.com posted was really helpful!

by:

Dealing with eTrailer.com was a wonderful experience. The hitch I ordered was delivered as promised in a matter of days. I was able to track it via UPS as eTrailer.com had set up the link to do so. It arrived in perfect condition. ETrailer.Com excels when it comes to customer service. This is a "World Class" Company to deal with.

by:

The build of this receiver is excellent. Installing it can be tough as the top bolts are hard to access once in place. A ratcheting wrench will likely be a better tool than a socket wrench for the install.

Hitch is great. If you have 10 years of buffalo rust underneath, I’d recommend paying someone to install it from the get go instead of shearing bolts and then paying extra like me

2010 Toyota Yaris

Received hitch today - was a little concerned that it it was moving kind of freely in the box, and one end had punctured a hole in the end of the box. Upon opening everything seems straight and square, looks nice and sturdy. Waiting for a warm weekend to see about the install.

Toyota Yaris

When shopping elsewhere, I got some ambiguity about which receiver was the right one to buy, but etrailer knew exactly which was the right one to buy. Thank you!

It works great, but it was a challenge to mount. The video online shows installing it on a Yaris sedan, but apparently the Yaris hatchback has less space. I could not get one of the bolts on because it is too tight to reach, but my son was able to get it.

The whole experience was great. The online shopping experience, the price, the quick delivery and the quality. I installed the thing quickly and easily without a hitch ! (Get it...without a hitch...I crack myself up !) It was cheaper for me to install a trailer hitch and rent a trailer to haul my goods 800 miles as compared to my using my truck. (Car: 35 mpg Truck: 9 mpg)

I ordered this hitch receiver and it came sooner than expected. While my husband and I probably could have installed it ourselves, since there are how-to videos here, we opted to let a professional install it; they got it on and ready in about 20 minutes. We got exactly what we ordered, which was perfect for my Toyota Yaris.

This hitch was awesome. Sadly, my car got totaled about a month ago. : However, one of the first things I did when I got my new car Prius C was get another hitch just like it Draw-Tite from you guys and I even installed the new one myself with your excellent video. Hopefully, I wont need another one for a long time though!

by:

So far this is a good product. Though the design makes the installation of the upper bolts difficult. The design makes the space to access the upper bolts into a tube. I had to use some long handled needle nose pliers to get the bolt started. It was tricky. And it takes a while to turn those bolts in. With patience and perseverance it can be done. But it's not easy. Thank goodness the bolt holes lined up. It they didn't match perfectly I'd still be under there.

How time flies. I couldnt be happier. The hitch is still operating great. And one thing Ive noticed for this hitch as opposed to the one on my last car is that this one doesnt have the problem with the inside surfaces of the receiver swelling from rust. My last hitch I bought from a local company who installed it. I cant remember the name of the manufacturer. I had to often clean out the ID of the receiver with a reciprocating saw to allow the receiver bar to slide in without locking up in the receiver. So far I dont have that problem. A nice change. Im assuming the new hitch is of a better metal more resistant to rusting.

by:

Quality made product. Would've gotten 5 stars but you need small hand to install the 2 upper bolts. Had to use my inner macgyver skills and make a tool to hold the bolt and washer in place so I could reach the bolts with my fingers( that barely reached) to hand tighten them. I recommend using a 13mm ratcheting wrench to finish off tightening the upper bolts. If you have patience remove the bumper.

  • Toyota Yaris 2012 Hatchback Hitch Recommendation
The Draw Tite Hitch part # 24911 is confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Yaris Hatchback. For trailer wiring you would want the Tow Ready wiring harness part # 119178KIT. For a ball mount you would want the part # 3593, for a 1-7/8 inch ball # 19256. Be sure not to exceed the tow ratings of your vehicle found in the owners manual.

I reviewed some images of the 2007 Toyota Yaris S Sedan with Aero package. It looks like that package adds several inches to the factory fascia all around the car. Because of this, you will most likely need to trim the area on the added fascia where the hitch receiver will be for any of the available hitches including # 24819.
