Kia Soul

This Curt hitch for our new Kia Soul was EXACTLY as described. it looked great, was easy to install and fit perfectly. The wiring kit made it TOO easy to connect to the car. Just be sure to flip the electronic box over and let the green and red wires be at the bottom, otherwise the harness will be too short to connect to the passenger side tail light connector. The fit and finish as well as the completed hitch look like a factory installed unit. The shipping was extra-fast (Thanks etrailer!). It arrived in time for me to install over the weekend! All-in-all, a good value for the money and great service. What are you waiting for? Order today and get "hitched" up and ready to tow!

Kia Soul

Quality item, decent price. A little more difficulty mounting it myself but NOT because of the trailer hitch....because I had to remove some rear wheel covers, mud flaps, etc., from my Kia Soul. Haven't used it yet but with the additional adapter for my bike rack it is extremely easy to put on and take off. It came with the cotter pin and peg but I bought an extra one for another $5. Overall VERY pleased with delivery time and hitch.

2011 Kia Soul

arrived quickly and in excellent condition, installation was exactly like the helpful video along with instructions. Great product highly recommend

Perfect fit for my 2011 Kia Soul. I use it mostly to position my trailer in my driveway and every once in a while to haul a travel basket.

So far so good it is very easy to maneuver my boat in my driveway in a cul-de-sac with my KIA Soul.

by:

I'm not easy to please, but order arrived within the week, was packaged real good so no damages, and very good quality! Paint was thick and welds were great work! Installation was no problems. Only pain in whole process, and I knew about it prior to ordering, was running power wire from back of car to battery correctly (so it wouldnt rub on anything and stay secured). If they could include somebody in packaging that would do the install,,,it would be PERFECT

Still great, paint still looks new

by:

Design matches up great with existing holes and mounting to frame. Your [online video] made installation easy. Just make sure to check the weld nut threading if you keep your car outside. It took me a while to clean/prep them on the exposed(driver) side.
Would recommend to anyone.

Still works & looks great. Have taken it on many day trips and even 4 trips that were 8+ hours on the highway. Very sturdy and rust free. A light lubrication on the ratcheting frame hooks and its as good as it was the first day.

2012 Kia Soul

I got the hitch for a move from RI to FL. I towed a medium sized rental trailer. No problems. Since then I have only used it with a bike rack.

It was not simple to install but that was because of the car. The bolt holes on one side that were supposed to be there, ready to accept the hitch were not. I had my mechanic install it.

2013 Kia Soul

I recently purchased the Curt Class I trailer hitch and I absolutely love it! It was easy to install exactly per the instructions. I had to jack up the rear of my 2013 Kia Soul, but that was so I had more room to work. I recommend jacking up the vehicle but please be safe and use jack stands, block the front tires and make sure the emergency brake is set. The wiring harness was a bit more of a challenge, but very much worth the effort. I found the only difficult part was routing the 12 volt power lead from the battery to the rear of the vehicle. If you are routing the wire along existing wiring, be prepared to pull trim parts off the interior and make a hole in the rubber grommet from the engine compartment to the interior. Overall great product and it fits existing tail light connectors exactly.

by:

Excellent trailer hitch. I use it to hold a cargo carrier, which holds a rather heavy Honda lawn mower. I'm guessing the carrier and mower together probably weigh around 160 to 170 pounds or more. The hitch handles the weight with no problem.

by:

Tight fit on the installation. Just finished a cross country trip with 4 heavy bicycles on a rack and had no issues

still working good

2013 Kia Soul

The hitch installation went perfectly on our 2013 Kia Soul. The online video helped a lot. Dont try to skip removing the rear wheels and fender liners. We tried it without doing it and had problems because the bolts holes have paint in the threads. Removing those saved a lot of time.

I really liked the product however upon installing it, we discovered that when the flanges were welded on the ends, it cause the ends to curve in. When we tried to install it, it came up 1/8 of an inch short. We were able to bend them out a bit. Once the hitch was straightened, installation was no problem. We were able to attach the bike rack after that. I'm super excited to finally have a hitch on my little Kia Soul

by:

Product as described and seems to be well built. Video was very helpful and only took me 40 minutes. Only complaint is that the receiver hitch is a little loose and needs a small shim. Also, partly due to me being a newb with trailer hitches, I needed a 1" 7/8 ball and I ordered a 2" so I wasted $10 bucks.

by:

Speed of Delivery: EXCELLENT! Surprisingly fast.

Ease of Install: As expected. The entire install of hitch and wiring took about an hour. The hitch definitely required a little extra "persuasion" to line up quite right, but hey, life is more fun when you get to hit things with a Great Big Hammer.

by:
2011 Kia Soul

Well built, installed easily on 2011 Kia Soul. Used a ratchet for the bolts, and a screwdriver to remove inner wheel well liners. The only part of the hitch that can be seen after install is the receiver tube and loops for safety chain.

by:

Due to the prompt customer service responses and ease of being able to email and not have to wait on hold. And great condition of the parts arriving I will certainly buy from you guys when I get my next car that I need a hitch for. Thank you

2012 Kia Soul

Very well constructed item, and easy to install. The videos and tutorial for installation were a lot of help. It took me about 3 hrs but I did not remove the tires nor have an impact driver (yet I could have not been able to use it without removing tires anyway) I also only used a crescent wrench and a ratchet wrench. Also a one person only. I think the hardest part was to remove the original bolts after being there for 8 years.

If I had all the right tools it should have taken somewhere around the 40min they suggest. I gave 4 stars because I am yet test on a good run since I just got this installed a day ago. Yet do not have any concerns, it looks very well constructed.

Highly recommend this website, helpful, resourceful, fast.

by:

Well, I suppose I could complain because it didn't magically float out of the box and install itself while making me coffee at the same time. I bought this to hold a hitch mount bike rack, a job it does swimmingly. This WILL require two people to install, unless you have two extra limbs.

by:
2013 Kia Soul

This is very nicely done, heavy metal construction. I just had to tap it into place and I was done. The video for my car was exactly right to a T. I am very impressed with the fast service and the quality and the fit. I would recommend this product to anyone. I have worked as a mechanic for years and know quality when I see and use it. Thank You for being there. ( etrailer.com )

by:

Product was easy to install and fit great. It looks good and functions well, too. Thanks for the installation videos. I took off the wheels to make the removal of the fender liners a bit easier.

I will let the author of the review know you had a question for them. I would definitely check your owner manual regarding whether or not you should tow with your Soul. One of the gals here in the office has a 2012 Kia Soul so I grabbed her manual. On page 5-54, the manual states that Kia does not recommend using the Soul for towing. This is probably for a combination of the following reasons, or others. 1) The frame is not built to support the weight of the vehicle and a the load of a trailer, 2) the suspension is not built to support the vertical loads added by a trailer, 3) the transmission is not built to pull the additional load, 4) the motor does not produce enough power to safely and efficiently pull the additional load.

by:

Just wanted to leave a review to mention a couple of things for this install:

1. The flanges were bent inward on the hitch mounting areas. Get a big hammer to bend them outward to slip over the unibody mounting points. Have your buddy stand on the middle of the hitch and another person needs to wack the flanges outward.

2. Obtain a M10 x 1.25mm tap to clean the threads out on the driver side of the unibody. They will be full of gunk/rust/dirt.

by:

Excellent product, fit perfectly, came with all the parts, nicely packaged and delivered within days of placing the order. Customer service follow-up with e-mails excellent. Installation directions were well written, easy to understand, and an important piece of the installation process. Gloss black powdercoat paint on the hitch and receiver was flawless. Product is well worth the price.

by:

This is a great product! It installed just like the directions said it would, including the wiring. It was also very affordable. I am now towing a small trailer behind my car and can go camping anywhere without the gas guzzler. Thanks!

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Class I Trailer Hitch on 2013 Kia Soul
There is a bike rack that will work for you, though as you noted, the Curt # C11110 hitch that fits your 2013 Kia Soul is a Class I rack so the Yakima RidgeBack 4 # Y02458 will not work, even with just two bikes on it because it is rated for Class II hitches and up. Instead, I recommend checking out the Kuat Beta # B202-114. This rack is extremely convenient to handle, weighing just 12.6 lbs and comes with a hand knob that you only need to twist to get the anti-rattle feature. The Beta...

  • Compatible Trailer Hitch Lock for a Class I CURT Trailer Hitch and Surco Cargo Carrier
The CURT Trailer Hitch, # 11110, is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. It uses a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin hole. All of the locks you have mentioned # 2866DAT, and # 7682 will all fit it. They will also fit the Surcp Cargo Carrier that you referenced. Since the Surco is no longer available, you might consider the Reese Carrier # 63155. Out of the 3 locks, I would go with # 5200. These are among our best selling locks. Once in a while a trailer hitch that fits one year, make and model of vehicle will also happen to fit another year, make and model but usually this occurs only with vehicles that are related, such as a GMC Sierra pickup and its cousin a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. In order to determine if this Curt 20x48 Cargo Carrier, part # C18145, will work on your Kia Soul with the Curt Hitch, part # 11110, you will have to take one measurement. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin on the # 11110 to the furthest point out on your bumper. If this measurement is less than 6 inches you should be able to use the # C18145 as it measures 6 inches from the center of its hitch pin to the basket of the cargo carrier.
