The boxes the items were shipped in were completely torn open and the hitch has paint chipped on one corner, also the carrier tray is scratched on one end

Oh my goodness. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. In the meantime we recommend using a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum.

2003 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Installing on my 2003 Sprinter 2500 with step bumper was super easy. I put the hitch on blocks to get it close. Used the existing bumper bolt to hold it roughly in place on each side, the hole on the hitch for the existing bolt is large so its easy to get in. Then I slid the spacer plate from above and temporarily put in a bolt from the hitch side, again its easier to get the bolt through this way and line the holes up for the rest of the bolts. After that I was able to get the bolts on as instructed and flip the temporary bolts around. This part took about 15 minutes.

Unfortunately the hitch did not include the fishing wire for the frame bolts. My last curt hitch from etrailer did, I just have to find it. The other disappointing thing was the real crooked etrailer sticker on the hitch. I don't mind having an etrailer sticker on there but at least put it on relatively straight.

2006 Dodge Sprinter

Installed on a 2006 Sprinter with a 118" wheelbase. Unlike other reviews I had to remove the spare tire but worse was the exhaust hangar and the mount for the step bummer is in the way. I ended up using a metal bandsaw to cut a corner of hitch off and had to use a big prybar to bend the step bumper mount out of the way. Used a 2x4 and a car jack to position it into place and double stick tape to hold the spacer brackets in-place during install.

The hitch itself is very solid, just know what you are getting yourself into. Took me about 2.5 hours to install.

Product fit great no need to remove spare tire or step bumper had hitch installed in less than an hour. Very happy with end result.

  • Trailer Wiring for 2006 Dodge Sprinter for Taillight Functions of Trailer
If your 2006 Dodge Sprinter does not have trailer wiring currently (since you are buying a hitch I can predict that it does not) you'd need to go with a kit like the Curt # C59236 which hardwires to the vehicle's taillight wiring. This kit will allow you to control all of the taillight functions of your trailer.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2003 Freightliner Sprinter
I do have a trailer hitch receiver for your 2003 Freightliner Sprinter but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13388 is only confirmed to fit a Sprinter from 2007-2018. As you have a 2003 the correct hitch for you is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 14250. If you plan to be towing a trailer in the future then you will also need a wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball. For a wiring harness I recommend using theh 4 Pole Trailer Connector part # C59496 and for a ball mount the...

  • Need to Reposition Spare Tire when Installing Curt Class IV # 14250 on 140 Inch Wheelbase Sprinter
According to Curt Manufacturing, the # 14250 Class IV receiver can be installed on the 140 inch single (not dual) rear wheel model without the need to relocate the spare tire. It is only the 118 inch wheelbase models that would require the spare tire to be relocated. To see the installation instructions, click the provided link.

  • Compatibility of the Curt Class IV Hitch # 14250 on a 2006 Dodge Sprinter Van w/ OEM Step Bumper
The Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 14250, will fit your 2006 Dodge Sprinter w/ OEM step bumper after some minor modification to the installation hardware. The Curt hitch instructions state that for the factory step bumper models, the corner of the 1/4 inch spacer plates, that are included with the hitch, will have to be broken off to allow the reinstallation of the step bumper. There will be no modification to the actual bumper of the Dodge Sprinter.

  • 2003 Newmar Country Starr Trailer Hitch Recommendation
I have a solution for you but the Curt Hitch part # 14250 that you looked at has bees custom designed for the small Sprinter chassis. Instead you want to use the DrawTite Multi-Fit Motor Home Trailer Hitch part # 82201 this is designed to fit frame widths between 47" and 71" which will match up to your frame perfectly. There are no custom fit options available for your 2003 Newmar Kountry Starr available. This hitch will connect to the frame using the supplied hardware or by having it welded...

  • 2006 Dodge Sprinter Trailer Hitch and Spare Tire Compatibility
We have two hitch receiver options compatible with your 2006 Dodge Sprinter, however both options do require relocating the spare tire. The compatible hitch receivers are the Curt # 13250 you referenced and the Curt # 14250 which has a higher capacity rating. You may want to consider the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 which won't allow for trailer towing but will allow for flat towing or use of an accessory like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

  • Choosing Between Curt 14250 and Draw-Tite 75210 for 2003 Dodge Sprinter Van
Because we haven't installed either hitch at our facility, I don't have the specific dimensions you're needing, but I can provide a ballpark figure that could be helpful to you. When installed, the top of the receiver tube for either hitch will sit about 1 inch below the rear bumper of the vehicle, which means that the underside of the hitch will sit right about 4 inches below the underside of the bumper. The face of the receiver tube will protrude about 1-1/2 inches past the rear edge...

  • Trailer Hitch, Ball Mount, Balls, and Wiring for a 2006 Dodge Sprinter
To go with Curt trailer hitch # 14250 I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2216. It includes a ball mount, a 2 inch ball, a 2-5/16 inch ball (which is probably what you meant since there are no 2-5/8 inch balls), a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. You will also need to add a trailer wiring harness to your Sprinter if it does not already have one. You can use # C59236. I have included links to the installation instructions for the hitch and wiring for you.

  • Hitch and Wiring Fits for 2004 Dodge Sprinter
Both of our primary hitch suppliers, Curt and Draw-Tite, show no vehicle listing for a M-B branded Sprinter for model year 2004. Only a Dodge Sprinter is listed, both 2500-series and 3500-series. You can confirm the correct hitch based on the van's wheelbase and drivetrain. If you click on the "Select Vehicle Style" drop-down menu tool at the top of the linked page you can select your Sprinter's configuration; you will then see the hitches just for that setup. • Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit 2005 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with 118 Wheelbase
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 14250, is confirmed to fit the 2005 Dodge Sprinter with the 118 wheelbase and does require the spare tire to be relocated. From my research the Sprinter wasn't released in the US market under the Mercedes-Benz name until 2010 so I'm assuming you have one that was manufactured for markets outside of the US. If this is the case I can't say for sure how well the hitch will fit your van, or if the spare tire must be relocated. Although it's a pretty...

  • Hitch Receiver Needed to Install on Inside Frame of a 2003 Freightliner Sprinter
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14250 that you referenced does mount on the inside of the trailer frame, but it does require bolts to be run through from the outside of the frame (see attached picture). You will need to make sure that you have room on your frame as this is the best option for you. The only other options mount on the outside of the frame on your 2003 Freightliner Sprinter. I have linked the installation instructions for you to check out. If you let me know what you...

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # 14250 Stick Out from Rear Bumper on 2004 Dodge Sprinter
Although we have not install the Curt # 14250 Trailer Hitch on a 2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500 as of yet, I was able to go out to the warehouse and find that from the forward-most mounting hole (towards the front of your Sprinter) to the end of the hitch receiver opening is about 19-1/2 inches. If you compare this measurement with the mounting hole location on the underside of your Sprinter you can estimate about where the hitch will sit.

For your 2006 Dodge Sprinter with the 158 inch wheel base and dual rear wheels with the step bumper I recommend Curt trailer hitch # 14250. Since you have the 3500 series Sprinter, this hitch will allow you to maximize the amount of weight you can tow (consult owners manual for towing capacity of the Sprinter). However, it is always a possibility there will be interference because of slight differences amongst vehicles. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
